Awesome walkthrough, I haven't looked yet but wanted to ask, do you have a similar video for the L36 3800? I've got a couple lifters bleeding down real quick, and I need to get down in the valley anyhow cause the LIM gaskets are dripping coolant down the block.
Great video. Since you bought a new gasket set why didn't replace the head gasket when you were down there? What are the names and models of your new head gasket set and the RTV sealant? My Malibu 2001 V6 has the same gm 3100 engine. There are oil leaks at the valleys. I am thinking about replacing the gaskets and new RTV sealant. What are suggestions, tips or recommendations to make it easier. I am not sure how much difference from my malibu 2001 v6 and your car. Thank you
Not for the faint of heart, but doable for the seasoned do it yourselfer. Was thinking the noise didn't quite sound like lifter tick, but who knows it might go away or maybe it's piston slap not sure. 🤔
just ordered 12 new lifters from rockauto for my series 2 making this same noise, now I'm wondering if I should try and cancel the order before its too late. probably should have torn into the engine nad verified the bad lifter first, then just replaced the 1 if necessary
@@SalemDoyleweird, I thought the loose rocker you found was a sure sign of collapsed lifters. mine is a 3.8 with 205k so idk, but I'm hoping it's just the lifter
are the lifters a common issue that need to be replaced on the 3800s?@@SalemDoyle I've been running it with seafoam in the oil today and that seamed to make it a lot quieter. Now going to change it out and use some thicker oil. I used 5w30 last time cuz I forgot it specs 10w30, gonna try a mix of 10w30 and 10w40 this time, maybe that will helpif it's just low pressure
Good camera work and presentation. I've done this many times, this would be a good guide for anyone making the attempt. Fel pro all the way.
Thank you
Those stuck hoses...I added the set of hose grip pliers years ago to free stuck rubber hoses.
Amazing vlog. The fuel rails underneath the intake surprised me on this engine; I never thought they were there.
This was an awesome video, buddy. Love your channel.
Thank you
Great video, I will be doing mine this weekend!!!
Great video

I have them for the non supercharged 3800s doing an l32 video later this month

Great videos keep them up 👍🏼

Do you have to remove all this for lifters? Mine has 50k miles on it and loud
i can’t figure out how to put the tensioner and bracket back on what do i do
Do you have a list of sockets used i think it was 15 13 10 a tiny wrench
Hello friend, where can i purchase a complete set of lifters like the ones you got online? Can i use regular 3.8 lifters? Thanks.
You can get them from any auto parts store. I got mine from rockauto.com
How many miles were on the car when this happened, I have a car with similar noise.

did you end up finding out what was still causing a noise? did the lifters fix anything?
The noise seems to be piston slap. Common in high mileage 3100s

@dummkompf piston slap is not common on 3800s

@@dummkompf lifters are an issue sometimes. Flushes can help too
