Him and the other small faces are not truly recognised for the talent they were Steve Marriott is one the greatest British R&B Soul singers we have ever had. A white man with a black man's soul voice.
An Absolute Force of Nature: Marriott Had EVERYTHING Great Voice, Great Guitarist (And He Was) , Great Presence, and Last but not Least GREAT TIMING, He just had IT whatever IT was, a Massive Loss his Death was, They Just Don’t Make Them Like This Anymore. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👍🏻🙏❤️🌞👑
This is my favourite song of all time, I am having it played at my funeral. Steve Marriott was an amazing talent, the energy and genius of the man was never really recognised and to lose him in a fire was unforgivable! God Bless Steve!
He set his own bed on fire - fell asleep drugged, drunk and with a cigarette - he only has himself to blame. And I have read biographies about him- he wasn't a very nice person - he was awful to Ronnie Lane who had MS - accused him of being drunk! Recollections vary regarding Marriot.
Steve Marriott was a damn great musician and singer I think he was definitely one of the greatest man it was in his soul ,he never missed a beat ,30 days in the hole, honky tonk woman, Alabama, all or nothing, man there's so many I can't list them all he was awesome.
I was lucky to see him in Rehoboth DE. We can came back down for second day soundcheck and Marriott bought me a beer and played pinball with me. We had good weed and got invited onto the bus after that show. Spent some time with Goldie talking about the Vietnam war. How lucky to have caught time with Marriott just before his passing.
Tin Soldier with PP on backing vocals is amazing - you'll find a nice video of this on UA-cam - I always thought her voice should have been louder though
I met him several times in the 60`s when his band The Frantics played in our local dance hall,a truly lovely bloke no side just another young man having the time of his life.Wish he was still with us.
His voice never failed him. He had an exceptional gift with his vocal abilities that have never been adequately acknowledged. His musical genius is a sad aspect of the blues and rock that has been overlooked or tragically never placed amongst the greats of Rock and Roll, not to mention the Blues.
So wish this Mega person was still with us as he would make today's so called music look like the pure noise that it is! Am so very happy that I grew up with this unssuepassable music!!
Saw him with Packet of Three in a small venue, brilliant gig didn't realise what a great guitarist he was and superb vocals. Had a quick chat with him after, lovely down to earth guy.
Oh my God...how sad. 😢 Mr Marriott, live on, if only for the generations that never saw, and maybe never will, know what you did to change attitudes of small minds to make the world a more tolerant and accepting place for new generations. Maybe you didn't even know. I can't talk for anyone else, but people like you made a huge difference to the difficult childhood my sister and I had. We became brave enough to leave our home in secret one night, hitch-hike across australia as far away as we could get and take our chances on the streets. I know that sounds dramatic to people reading this. But it wasn't then. We did do it a bit tough. Anyway, many years ago now and much water under the bridge since then. Thank you. RIP ❤
Blimey.......that made me shiver.........agree with all the comments.....I never knew any of his later stuff was recorded I saw him and the other players in this band at the Irish Centre in Digbeth Birmingham and he was wearing a bib and brace trousers then .....he died a few weeks later what a loss to Rock RIP Stevie you will never be forgotten......and thanks for this amazing video
Steve is our superstar reserved for those that heard a natural born talent, any guitar he picked sounded unique, his singing and writing all things that excelled at. He is a National treasure. He was always working and collaborating on something . He played the Harp too!
I was thinking of something appropriate to write when I scrolled to your words. Perfect. I can only add - if only he knew how much he was loved, adored and appreciated.
I used to see him at the Torrington in North Finchley regularly. Wonderful show Fridays and Sundays. Now a coffee shop. The Moss Hall Tavern and the Standard in Walthamstow went for a Burton too.
I know. Just another reason I HATE tobacco, and especially cigarettes. I think his abilities on the guitar were still blossoming. What might he have obtained? Tobacco robbed us of Steve. (By the way, I used to smoke, but I quit over 40 years ago.)
Absolutely terrific, thanks for sharing. I was Steve Marriott and his Packet of three band (I think he announced that they were The Official Receivers from then on) at a pub in Finchley back in about 1984 or 85. They were amazing. I remember getting the last tube back to Tooting Broadway right across London with a bursting bladder and staggering bent double into a shop doorway to relieve myself once we'd got back to Tooting. He's sadly missed, both a great voice and a great guitarist
You old buggers always going on about how much better the music was back then. Of course, you're right. I wonder if I'll be the same at your age? (I'm 66) 😉✌️👍
When I watch the live performance of this song in 1966 it seems so ahead of its time. So much power and soul, it’s definitely not a pop song but it still reached the no.1 slot effortlessly.
I said it 50 years ago and I will say it today.
Steve was the best vocalist rock ever had. Period
agreed…100%
A voice like no other.

@@felipelotas5609 Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I will stand by mine
Terry Reid was just as talented - actually more so.
It’s just a crime that Steve wasn’t a mega superstar worldwide. One of the best singers ever to come out of this country❤️❤️
This country? He's British
請問
Stevie is a legend
Rubbish!
He is not even close
RIP and long live Steve Marriott (January 30, 1947 - April 20, 1991), aged 44
You will always be remembered as a legend.
This version of the song is superb and the late Steve's voice at this point in his life was outstanding.
My brother once said "Steve Marriott should've been a superstar."
Damn right. Probably the greatest vocalist of his era.
WHO SAYS HE WASANT KEPT THE FLAME
@@mullcol Sorry?
He is, listening and watching such as this says so. Sad loss.
Its not like the Small Faces were obscure, they had number one hits in the UK and a run of big hits throughout the mid to late 60s
@@robertexley5193 Yes, I know, but I'm talking of the stratospheric stardom of Zeppelin etc.
Raw emotion, Steve Marriot....his voice reaches your heart
Best front man ever to come out of the 60's, amazing voice, always pitch perfect..
Totally on a different level,,,,,,,,,,,,,he was a class act.

Got that right. We miss you Steve.

the glorious 60's and 70's will NEVER be beaten for every genre of music.those of us who lived it knew it was a special era. Steve Marriot legend.
We were very, very lucky to be around then.
Yes, if you were there at that time you were at rocks epoch .
"Never be beaten"...how do you know this?
RIP Stevie - You were the best and your music will live on forever...
True...
What a great version of All or nothing .......
I wish Steve Marriot would still be amongst us ...
No words can say what a legend Steve was a blues singer and guitar star .
Him and the other small faces are not truly recognised for the talent they were
Steve Marriott is one the greatest British R&B Soul singers we have ever had. A white man with a black man's soul voice.
....and he's in the rock and roll hall of fame!
Very well said. I fully agree!!!!
You clearly don’t remember Humble Pie, one of the worlds biggest bands back in the 70s?
I am talking in the general public not amongst his peers. They have never been recognised in the way their talent truly deserved.
Absolutely!! Besides, I love Kenney Jones' drumming.
Pure brilliance. No one these days comes close. RIP Stevie
May be Paul Weller can?
Weller?.. Do me a favour
..what about 'Stormsy' ...lol ...just joking ...of course Britain is finished !!!!!!!! . . . . . .
He's a hard act to follow
Steve Marriott- King of the Mods. Legend.
Steve was way more talented than given credit for. The ultimate vocalist and a great guitar player.
Yes absolutely true

We love you Steve Marriott , wherever you may meet a sunbeam on your way throughout this universe . Love from Germany.
This man put his all into every song he played......
Steve Marriot had one of the most powerful voices in all of Rock & Roll! Him not being a household name is a crime. His story is tragic!
I just loved Steve married he was the best.
He is a household name if you hang out in the right households!
One of the greatest rock voices along with Paul Rodgers,Plant and Mercury big loss and one of the best songs of the 60s.
Steve Marriott sang with such intense feeling. Killer guitar player as well. He was the man.
The most soulful voice of the Brit 60s ! RIP Steve !
So very fucking influential on so many who followed. R.I.P. Steven Peter Marriott; absolutely one of a kind, once in a lifetime!

The song itself is so powerful, but when you add that fantastic band with Steve;s powerful voice, it grows even bigger... what a sound... what a song.
So true and well said , peace
Packet of three. Live! I have the cd recording. It is all great.
Best Rock Voice bar none! And had the privilege of working for him in the mid 80’s. Lovely man with that voice or nothing!
He is a legend when it comes to singing.Such a sad ending he had R.I.P
I always fill uplifted when I hear this great man singing.r.i.p Steve.
He was here in Cali, flew home and died that night in a fire. It was heartbreaking for those of us that grew up with, and loved his voice.
Steve Mariott and his Small Faces that was no less than absolutely wonderful. Rock at its very best. Only few highlights followed (Queen). .
Saw Steve and Humble Pie in the late 70s...so thankful...he was a genius...consummate musician and artist...
I would describe him more as a PERFORMER because he went to Italia Conti and learnt to PERFORM. Knew all the tricks.
Utterly spine-tingling. The energy in that voice.
As a Beatlesfan i have to admit that Tin Soldier is the best song of all time!
