I was the Road manager for a band called HOOKFOOT thru the late sixties and early seventies. We did a British Tour supporting HUMBLE PIE in 1973. One of the best times that I had! It was around the time of the ‘Power Cuts’ which made it very interesting. One of the Venues we did was South Parade Pier, in Southsea, and we had a Bomb scare! Caused by some ‘Brain Dead’ calling it in because he couldn’t get tickets due to a sellout! Those were the days.

I was in the high school choir and we were giving a concert in the auditorium next to the Roanoke VA Civic Center in 1972. During the day of our concert between rehearsals, I went next door to the civic center to see who was playing that night. It was a concert being set up for Humble Pie and King Crimson. I helped the stage crew unload their trucks most of the day and they gave me a free backstage pass. After our high school concert, I went to the backstage of the civic center instead of getting on our school bus. I got to meet Steve Marriott and all of the members of both bands. They were warming up, eating and "smoking" and I was right there with them. The lead singer of King Crimson told me he had a child six months ago and hadn't seen it yet due to being on tour. When the band left the area to go on stage, I went with them ans stood behind their amps for the entire concert. It was a great experience and I felt like part of Rock-N-Roll history. When I got back to school I was in deep trouble but I told my music teacher that I would do it again if I had the chance. I think he agreed but never said so. I just wish I had a camera with me. Humble Pie was a great band!

I don't know why, but I love Stevie's singing whereas Plant just gives me earache.
Plant has admitted to modelling his vocal style after Marriott's. He was a big fan from the Small Faces days.
I never cared for Robert Plant.

Plant, had a great bluesy vibe, but didn't have soulfulness Steve had. Nothing wrong with that. Different singers.

Brilliant...loved it the day I heard in 1973 and still do in 2020
No matter how many times I hear Steve singing Black Coffee, it still takes my breath away! RIP great one.
saw Humble Pie at least once a year in the 70s. such an amazing band. Steves voice was so amazing
With brown sugar having the same euphemism as black coffee doesn't beat around the bush, it gets right to the bush!!!
I watch this and come back to it every few months and share it with my friends... and no-one complains. Makes me feel 18 again, as I was then. Just love it
Thank you..... Steve ! Glad you enjoy it.
Effing great it's only music and by Christ I will enjoy it by the way I am a young 72 and still kicking.
