@@LaosHouseI'm starting at an Amazon delivery station in about two weeks and I'm trying to figure out what to do with the extra time I’ll have. I was thinking about trying DoorDash, but after watching this video, I'm having second thoughts. How long does it usually take to get approved for Amazon Flex?
10:11 80% FLEX packages are inaccurately labeled (envelop, Box, M, L etc). Best option is to use a SHARPIE and write down all the Stop No. Have 1-20 in the front. Takes around 10-15mins but can save you at every stop
Good advice! Our station puts yellow route labels on the packages, but we still have the issue of the app stating the package type is something it isn't
@41933 I end up having to change my route 75% of the time, but because the software does not show the route until one has scanned all the boxes, you never know what the final route is. BUT if you always use the Amazon provided route, then that will match with the yellow sorting labels on each box. The station affixes these to each package when they get them and divvy them up for drivers into routes. So the lowest number in the group of boxes you have is the first stop, etc. Makes it easy to put the correct boxes in the car in an order that makes sense. Only issue is when one has to change the route due to Amazon not understanding mountains, or ignoring the deadline that many packages have for delivery. Often the last package in the route will have a due time of an hour from the start of the route, so one has to change the route to get the package there in time or one is punished by the app for a late delivery.
If you wait until the shifts surge it is worth it. I grab the shifts that are $30/hr or more. Also, certain shift times have a higher likelihood of you being sent home. When there are no routes, you are sent home with full pay. If you are able to figure out which shifts those are. It’s free money everyday. I’ve been doing this for 5 years now.
I used to do Flex but I'm an Amazon employee, can't do both at once. If you can snipe them, Whole Foods blocks are where it's at. Average $40 base pay for 2 hours and then plus tips, usually like $60-$80 for 2 hours.
Me ordering a USB and Amazon sending it in a medium-sized box. Delivery driver sees: Envelope. Package is not envelope. Delivery driver is now later than they'd like to be to the next stop. I feel for you man. Keep up the amazing work! :)
You need to get one of those wireless phone chargers that’s also a phone holder! It’ll help you from the annoying unplug/plug in each time you’re getting out lol best investment in my parts van.
I use Peak Design's for my car and it works great - saves a lot of time having to plug/unplug and since I have the smallest iPhone, my battery doesn't last long anyway - so any time it's mounted in the car, it's charging!
I would rather work for UPS at peak season. I have worked for 2 seasons with them . $23hr daily ot pay and mileage reimbursement. Every year pay goes up . This year I think I'll be a UPS helper ..... But what ever works for you do it
As a PT warehouse myself, go at a steady but safe pace. Makes no sense to kill yourself when you get paid by the hour. If they gonna keep you after they will take almost anyone with a pulse if they need workers, otherwise reapply later (late Spring, all Summer bc ppl go on vacation and u will make Seniority before Peak).
I really love your amazon videos. Another great video! You make this job seem so easy. I do the exact same job as you do been doing it for 4 years now. Watching your videos makes me enjoy my job more and not to hate it so much cause i am not the only one dealing with other people's crap lol
done flex a few times. the way they handle flex packages is not efficient, always mislabeled as being something else and always mixed to the point you have to dig through everything to sort it right. this was close to 9 years ago, looks like theyre still doing that. lol during covid the routes were going anywhere from $110 - $150 a block
Having a EV helps alot on savings. However my tesla squeaking like crazy due to all the driving and hopping in and out the door. Many folks in my area are now doing deliveries so block prices go way down. I dont take anything over 3 1/2 hrs for less than $80. The main reason is they can send you far away or pound you with packages. You NEVER KNOW! Ive recently started doing more whole foods deliveries. The tips make up for the low base pay and not far away. Plus easier to get in and out the stations.
Used to deliver food during college. After insurance, gas, increased wear on your vehicle, increased maintenance costs. Plus, a few intangibles like dealing with traffic. It was not worth it. Good for quick beer money though. I don’t think I would ever do it again. I see you leave your car running while on delivery which I suppose is better on your starter. But depending on the area you live in, this might not be a smart decision. Have seen many people’s cars get jacked (break window, and drive off!). Massive headache to deal with aftermath.
Before COVID I did Amazon Flex to make money working my way through university. Chill af job, listen to your music while you drive around dropping packages off, and I was able to pick up shifts around my study schedule. On the weekends I was usually able to pick up 2 shifts a day, the blocks never took as long as they estimated either so it almost always worked out to about $20/hour just to drive around.
I got banned from Amazon flex for not making it to my shift on time due to a bad accident on the highway. Happened 2x to me over the course of three months. I lived 35 mins from the closest Amazon terminal and was almost all highway miles so a lot of times. I’d hit bad traffic.
@@coffee8814hows it his fault there was accidents that made him be late? Lol one time i was stuck in freeway for one hour getting off the highway on the next stop due to a semi rollover

Hats off to you, man. Brings back memories. Amazon should have you in training videos. 👍🏾 I did Flex and DSP. Flex is tough on your car but the flexibility is cool. DSP is brutal, especially in apartments. I lost over 20 pounds in the first few months. Battery saving tip: Keep your phone connected to a portable battery that’s in a side pants/shorts pocket (so you don’t have to keep taking it out and putting it back in), at least for the first half of the shift.

Used to work for a DSP. The Flex app NUKES your battery. I either needed 2 phones, or have a 25w battery with me. If I remember correctly as this was nearly a year ago now, it was draining around 30%/h with just the app alone. I have never seen an app tank so much battery. Side note: If it says you're outside the delivery area, go into airplane mode.

I like doing flex cause it’s good exercise but I live an hour away from the warehouse and it’s hard to get the surges. I can’t do it for $18 an hour. Also, it’s hard on your brakes and transmission from the constant stop and go.
I wouldnt be surprised if Amazon tries to slowly move exclusively to flex drivers. They have no overhead no van wear and tear, not on the hook for any accidents etc. I just wish flex paid better. We have overhead to worry about

I signed up for the program, and receiving many offers now. But I am afraid parcels may be heavy for me! Did you had to lift any heavy packages ? For me, even 5 kg can be heavy, if there are multiple packages. Thank you
Once u pick up your packages and swipe to finish it takes u to your list of deliveries. At the top right of the list there is a scan symbol, u can press that nd manually scan each package and it will show u which number it is in the route. I do that and write the number on the package.

I signed up for the program, and receiving many offers now. But I am afraid parcels may be heavy for me! Did you had to lift any heavy packages ? For me, even 5 kg can be heavy, if there are multiple packages. Thank you
Probably gotta be able to lift regular amount of weight honestly. So I’d say max 70 pounds at most but not as often since most are lighter things.
Once u pick up your packages and swipe to finish it takes u to your list of deliveries. At the top right of the list there is a scan symbol, u can press that nd manually scan each package and it will show u which number it is in the route. I do that and write the number on the package.
do you have a list of recommended accesroies for these side hustles? like for example the dashcam you use
I work at an Amazon fullfillment center and I love my job
Great info Chris and as a fellow driver these tips are very helpful when thinking about doing Flex routes for extra cashThanks for all you do and keep up the great work brotha!
Chris couple questions, what kind of car insurance ?? What about deductions income taxes, ssi etc??
I should deliver in my k24 civic 😂
I'd personally prefer to drive for amazon from my own car instead of driving for a dsp for a lot of reasons
i used to work for flex using my electric scooter
What gloves do you wear? Always looked for good gloves for amazon that don't just get destroyed in a week. Fellow step driver btw lol.
My boys an Amazon lifer 😂
If you plan to do flex learn the algorithm and don't take base, it's only profitable if you get decent surges $30+ is my ideal number.
What’s up brother Chris?
Do a livestream ! Plz Chris !
Can't censor out adresses/names/packages while lifestreaming so he'll never do that. That would be his last day at amazon 🤷♂
