The best version of this song I have ever heard. Doane Perry, became the most masterful Tull drummer ever. He was SO smooth and gifted. Barlow has always been my favorite, but Perry was probably the best. Thank you Tull, for the many decades of Prog and just plain bad ass music.

When I was young, I didn't pay much attention to Tull, since I thought he was just a rocker.
I recently discovered videos of his concerts.
WOW. This guy is a master flutest.

I listened to Jethro Tull for hours as teenager. Have heard all the old songs in their original versions, and I have to say that these updated versions are even better! I really like the use of the accordion and wooden flutes(recorders). I played accordion as a kid, I still have it, and this makes me want to play along. These versions capture their Celtic roots too.

I rather think he's putting on the voice here for 'comic' effect á la Jamieson in this: ua-cam.com/video/r-ZiTNS9s8c/v-deo.html. It wouldn't matter if he'd done it that way on the original but people like their hits unmessed-with.

Ian's work is so much more interesting musically than any other rock band, IMHO. It's more out of the classical and romantic Traditions than the rock tradition. There is just so much going on...so many colors, such clever melodies, counterpoints, chord structures.....beautiful music....

    Feliz y sonriente
Andé una milla para tomar tu agua
    Sabes que yo amaría amarte
Y encima tuyo no hay ningún otro
    Saldremos a caminar
Mientras otros gritan sobre guerras desastre
    Oh, no cederemos
Vamonos a vivir en el pasado
    Antes yo me unía
Cada niño y niña era mi amigo
Ahora hay revolución, pero no saben
    Que están combatiendo
    Saldremos a caminar
Mientras otros gritan sobre desatres de guerra
    Oh, no cederemos
Vamonos a vivir en el pasado
    Cerremos nuestros ojos
Afuera sus vidas van mucho mas rápido
    Oh, no cederemos
    Seguiremos viviendo en el pasado
    Oh, no cederemos
Vamos a vivir en el pasado
    Oh no, no cederemos
Vamosnos a vivir en el pasado

Tom lepone: the group you are enjoying is named after an 18th century botanist who's name is....wait for it....Jethro Tull. Their booking agent picked it out of a book. The nasally flute-boy is none other than the multi-talented Ian Anderson. This song is my favourite. Most enjoyable.

  • @ganthony1

With all due respect, his creativity, some sort of dare I say "God Given" perfect rhythm and still growing virtuousity with "heavy metal" instruments is why I love Ian Anderson. But my singing hero is long gone. I don't know IF I will go see TAB/TABII in good 'ol Akron Ohio....so close but so far from where Jethro Tull should be....that is residing in the AMERICAN R&R HOF. What a joke they aren't there....politics. OUTSTANDING flute work!

Cronopul's right.... but many of us just think...AS GREAT as his lyrics are...they mean and meant a lot to many of us...he is best served playing instrumentals...or (He'd never do it...) his vocal leads to someone else. One, you'd have to PAY them... and two, you'd have to PAY them....lol....the ultra tight Scotsman. It's all good. Great flute work!
