    Just goes to show that simply because you purchase a top tier trigger, doesn't mean it will work without some light tuning! THUMBS UP/LIKED VID :D

    Thanks man! This really worked. I was careful when using the dremel and measured how much i started with. I removed about a millimeter of material.
    My trigger was having hammer follow when I released the trigger very slowly. So if someone is having double fire and cant seem to replicate it during a function check, try releasing your trigger very very slow.

    Did an AR 9 build and was getting double fires occasionally. Kept thinking the problem was with my bolt, buffer weight or buffer spring. I was using a PSA lower combined with their lower parts kit. Filed down the disconnector about 5or6 file strokes and problem solved. You saved me a lot of ammo and a possible trip to the gunsmith.
    Thanks again!

      @@Ammonymity1776 what was the deal with your safety? I have a p80 lower as well, but with a lpk from brownell's, DPMS I think. Anyway, my safety will switch to safe when the hammer is uncocked. I was having an issue with the trigger firing instead of resetting, which i fixed with this video, but the safety thing is still happening. It just goes into safe mode when I'm sure it shouldn't. It won't fire in safe mode, thankfully, but I'm having trouble finding a fix for the issue.

      By atf ruling a binary trigger that functions this way is illegal because if you hold the trigger in a sweat spot between both catches and allows the hammer to follow the bolt without being captured.

      @@michaeljacques7336 You might want to recheck your information. Binary triggers are not illegal and if it is a binary trigger it's supposed to function that way. Now if you're manipulating the trigger to do what is called a bump fire with your fingers that is not illegal either as you have a legal trigger assembly. It is the way you personally manipulate the trigger to make a bonfire and that the ATF cannot regulate. Also realize the ATF does not make laws only the United States Congress has that authority.

    • @michaeljacques7336
      @michaeljacques7336 2 роки тому +3

      @@gregoryromeu431 I’ll make my first statement more clear. Binary triggers are legal, the way a legal binary trigger functions is that the trigger is pulled, the hammer drops, the gun fires, the action cycles, the hammer locks back again, the trigger is released the hammer drops again and the the rifle fires and we are back at step one. Binary triggers that are sold by manufacturers do not function the way that the modification in this video does. With the modification in this video, it would seem that the trigger is functioning the same way, but when an AR trigger is modified in this way there is a sweet spot, where if the trigger is held in the middle of the pull range, the hammer does not catch the sear, nor is it caught by the trigger catch. This means that as the gun cycles the hammer just swings back and forth following the bolt. This is a major problem for two reasons, one: when the hammer follows the bolt either the hammer won’t have enough energy to set the primer of or the gun will slams fire. This makes the gun function as an open bolt machine gun, you are not cycling the trigger, you hold the trigger in one spot and fire multiple rounds, that’s a violation of the Hughes amendment. Two: It’s also extremely dangerous because you are firing full auto without and auto sear, which means that there is nothing to control the guns timing. If the bolt hangs up an all you will get an out of battery firing and the gun will explode in your face! If you don’t believe me there are more that a few videos on UA-cam of AR sears breaking, where the gun unexpectedly fires a few full auto bursts and then blows up. I say all of this as a trained gun smith and a guy who has made trigger groups from a block of steel with nothing but a set of files. Choose your own adventure!

    1) binary triggers are not illegal. 2) that Dremel should not be anywhere near your trigger. 3) if you have a problem get a new disconnector or check that your spring is installed correctly. Do not dremel or file triggers
    4) If you want a lighter trigger get a nice two-stage component trigger like the larue mbt2s or Schmidt tool

    Realize too that parts here are often surface hardened. Once you kiss them with that grinding stone, you remove the hard facing and then the parts will wear quickly due to the softer steel being exposed.

  • @TooManyChoices1

    Binary triggers are legal. Pull and release are two separate functions. Don’t remove material from the bearing surfaces of your FCG. “Polishing” a trigger should not remove material or you’re using the wrong attachment on the tool.

    Great video on fixing a binary, but Binaries are 100% Legal according to ATF, NFA Rules only apply when manufacturing or selling a Binary trigger because you need to prove its not a fully auto. No hate but this is common misconception with the law because of the it is written. There are two (Binary) motions to fire the round not a single continuous press of the trigger to send multiple rounds down range, therefor its not a class 3 and no NFA rules apply. However State and Local laws still apply just like for the bump fire stock. Happy shooting and I advise everyone to check their State Laws before shooting binary, and just don't just at the range because everyone is an "expert".

    You should pin a correction to this video for strong misinformation. It is NOT illegal to purchase, own and or function a binary trigger. It is not classified as a fire arm or machine gun so it is not illegal to manufacture as well. Only parts manufactured for purchase of the intent of creating a machine gun will be classified as a machine gun. Binary triggers still require one action for one shot. Auto Sears however ARE machine guns and require the tax stamp and all that good stuff.

      Here in Florida, they are on the bump stock ban list, but the way the law is written is in a gray area. Almost anything could get you in trouble with the law depending on their interpretation. Below is what it says about the bump stock ban in Florida and what all is covered on said ban.
      Effective October 1, 2018
      790.222 entitled Bump-fire stocks prohibited. Reads -A person may not import into this state or transfer, distribute, sell, keep for sale, offer for sale, possess, or give to another person a bump fire stock. A person who violates this section commits a felony of the third degree.
      The new law goes on to define the term “bump fire stock” to mean a conversion kit, a tool, an accessory, or a device used to alter the rate of fire of a firearm to mimic automatic weapon fire or which is used to increase the rate of fire to a faster rate than is possible for a person to fire such semiautomatic firearm unassisted by a kit, a tool, an accessory, or a device.
      Reading the definition should cause concern. It is so vague that it could include almost any modification to your firearm.  There are many items sold that can accelerate the rate of fire of a semi-automatic firearm, including both handguns and rifles without making them automatic weapons:
      It can be argued that lightening the pressure necessary to pull the trigger increases the rate of fire to a faster rate than possible unassisted by a kit, tool, accessory or device. Until a court rules on this, understand that you may become the test case if you modify your firearm to fire more easily by decreasing the pressure necessary.
      Other accessories include, but are certainly not limited to:
      Traditional Bump stocks
      Crank fire devices
      Binary triggers
      and many more commercially available conversion kits or devices

    Something and everyone should also know if you do have problems such as this or any other kind of a problem that's causing your firearms not operate properly report it directly to the person or the manufacturer that you bought it from so that they have a record of it and can seek a solution. Also check to find out if there might be a recall on that particular problem or that particular part or firearm. Many times recalls are issued where you can send your firearm in to get it fixed for free or they will replace it for free.

    Thank you I am having this issue with a brand new 9mm rifle. I did swap out the springs for the JP3.5 springs which I have on three other ars and have not had this issue. Could those springs have anything to do with this issue.

    Its not the cap, Its the degree of the step on the sear and the hammer! You need about a 20 degree step, That's what makes the trigger break and makes it feel lighter on pull! Polishing will always makes it feel better on the pull though! And you dont ever wanna use a dremel to do trigger work unless you are a pro! You sand paper and or a very light file! And Binary triggers are 100% legal! As long as its a trigger pull for 1 shot! Or as the say a motion of the trigger on pull and release!

    Uh, many states do in fact allow binary triggers, plus those that have an NFA rifle with the three shot burst or full auto are also legal. You don't need an NFA registered rifle if you're using a binary trigger in many states just check your state laws to make sure that you're legal within your state.

    Can you just purchase a new disk connector. and if so will the problem come back? And this eventually we're now naturally from where? And is this dangerous?

    1:36, "extractor is NOT a disconnector". You say. is is a few times while showing your Dremel grinders. What's wrong here?

    Hello. Thank you for this video. My trigger just started the occasional fire on the release 2 weeks ago. I forgot and went to the Range to try some new reloads.. My trigger is about 1 1/2 years old. I did some basic polishing when I found out about polishing A while back.
    So far your video is still a good basic explanation in my search today. I will try this fix.
    Thank you again.

    O and instead of going thru all of this you can but a nice stainless Anderson firing group for 19 bucks and they are silky smooth

    Would be better if you used proper terms for the parts. Its a disconnector vice an extractor. geez. Glad you corrected that later in.

    My DPMS started double firing exactly like this after about 200 rounds. I have to release the trigger in a very quick exaggerated fashion to get a proper trigger reset and avoid double firing. Good info, I’ll try it out

    first try. still got the hammer fall on release. Second try and I got no reset. guess I took off too much. it was just micrometers too. bummer.

    • @vbstangin
      @vbstangin  4 роки тому

      How many AK's have you built? The biggest prob with the low end milspec triggers are that they are just that....low end. Also if youre building an 80% then youve got to understand that the trigger/hammer pin holes will not be exactly the same on every lower built, due to tolerance stacking between the hammer/trigger holes as well as tolerances with the FCG.

    Is it ok to use a Daytona tactical hammer on a psa trigger?

  • @edsanderson1311
    @edsanderson1311 6 років тому

    The military check after cleaning and re assembly should let you know if your AR is going to go full auto or double tap before you go to the range, I just cannot believe what I have seen on this video and so many have done something similar. The systems check is easy, empty gun, charge or cock the hammer, pull trigger on empty chamber, hold trigger down, charge again, let off on the trigger, it should reset, at this point it should work unless you have removed metal from the surface hardened parts of the hammer and trigger.

      Ed Sanderson this procedure isnt 100% ... You obviously havent built many guns. Or fully understand how they operate or malfunction.
