Welcome to the Letterman UA-cam Channel, home to all your favorite clips from Late Night and Late Show - as well as conversations with the writers, producers and performers who helped make it all happen. These highlights have been artisanly-produced, carefully-curated, and chosen completely at random by an old computer that used to pick numbers for the New York Lotto back in the 90’s. - Розваги
One of Dave’s all-time segments. People were talking about it. News stations aired it at the end of their shows.
Absolutely.
And that, boys and girls, is what they call “Comedy Gold.” God Bless Dave!
One of my all time favorite bits of David's. This was also my introduction to David Letterman back in the 80's. 😄
David was the only man who ever made Velcro interesting.
What a legend.
um eric andre did too
Saw this broadcast with some friends in 83 or 84. Reaction: uproarious laughter.
Me too. I'll never foret this, and also his diving suit covered in Alka-Seltzer tablets!
Of all the stunts in the hundreds of the episodes , this is the one that I remember so vividly. Classic.
I remember watching this as a kid and my Dad laughing his ass off
You're supposed to be in bed at that time youngster :)
One of my fave Dave bits! So silly and hilarious!! I still miss Dave being part of my nightly routine.
me too! I was a fan of him, even during his morning show.
I remember with crystal clarity watching this stunt as a kid and having the biggest laugh of my life when he hit the wall! I didn't know I was capable of laughing like that, until that point. This is such a special clip. Thank you!
All time late night GOAT.
Absolute classic. I taped this on VHS in the 1980's and I still have it.
i was at this taping in 1984 lol
Thank you UA-cam for spinning the algorithm in the direction of this Letterman episode that I never knew existed. This is great. I love Letterman. He was the best late night host ever.
Late night television will never be this good again! I miss you, Dave. Cheers.
it's about time they uploaded everything. letterman is history
I've always remembered that THUNK sound as Dave impacted on that backboard. lol.
Laughed myself into tears.
I'll never forget that moment where he tramped into the wall and stuck there. That was my intro to Letteramn bitd. I was flipping theought the channels and jusr happened in That moment and it made me laugj and laugh and laugh 😂 lifelong fan frim then and there.
Dave's the only one that could make such a ridiculous, seemingly boring sketch endlessly entertaining.
my grandma thought that was the funniest thing she ever saw. to the day she died. almost exactly 20 years later.
Hilarious, thanks. I remember when it first aired. How time flies.
I've been waiting for this clip!
_Sure wish it was 1984 still, these days we live in now are so much more complictaed._
I watched this!!! Letterman was cool and amazing to my college set. I stayed up too late many nights as a result, but it was so worth it.
Oh my god. I remember this night. This will never not be funny
I'm convinced that during the bigger version of this stunt Dave did with the suspension wires and super tall Velcro wall, he hit the wall so hard that he nearly broke his nose but I've never heard Dave or anyone else ever talk about it.
classic dave and paul-perhaps daves most famous skit
This is gold. I wasn't even born yet when this aired, but one has to understand the zeitgeist. I miss those days even though I wasn't around.
My dad taped a rerun of this episode during a writer's strike a few years later. I wore the tape out as a kid. If I remember correctly, he called a pay phone on the street to a recruit a random guest the same night. This was truly the apex of creative and borderline surreal comedy. Thanks Dave!
Dave: the tony stark of velcro.
There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.
THE. BEST!
I always remember that episode from way back then. God I miss Dave.
So great!
Thank you so much.
His finest hour.
Perfect comedic timing.
Best episode EVER!!!!!
Just say it was your favorite episode, or preface your comment with, "in my opinion".
Otherwise, stating an opinion as fact like you did, is incredibly dumb.
Performance Art.
Wow. I saw this back in the day!
love dave
I remember staying up late to watch Dave when I was a kid. My mom had got me a little black and white television that I would sneak under my covers at night to watch Dave and Johnny. I remember watching this show. I never knew what it looked like in color till now.
@@pashadyne lol, yes it does.
😂😂😂This was really awesome ‼️
Thanks, Dave! =)
The classic!
If we had Instagram back then, this would have become the velcro challenge.
Funny! Thanks
😂 😂 😂 Good Ol’ Fashion Fun!
classic : -)
The term Velcro is a combination of Velvet and Crochet
Some say he's still up on that velcro wall.

Yay.
I wish I had like 250 upvotes to give to this.
Didn't Letterman do this for like 20 years?
What became of the Velcro basketball?
The weird thing is when he’s upside down, he sounds exactly like he does now.
Anyone who understands the intricate logistics of photography will immediately surmise that Mr. Letterman is being photographed from an obtuse angle which creates the fake illusion that the floor is actually a wall, if you can believe it or not. So, I chose to add this hazard to our homeowners policy.
Is this suit and basketball in the Sports Gall of Fame or the Smithsonian?
The Gov't got velcro from the Roswell UFO incident...
All those union guys helping Dave down. There's even a dude to remove his baseball cap in the safest way possible. "Assistant Hat Holder" Unions are so "padded", is easy to figure out why movies and streaming services cost so much.
I'm David Letterman and welcome to jack@ss 5:46
Dave was a big fan of Jackass. I remember him mentioning it on the show after he had seen it for the first time. The only show I heard him praise more was Beavis and Butthead.
