What are Diamond Art Club's Special Diamonds? Fairy Dust, Iridescent, Electro, ABs, and more!

Hello friends!
Welcome to a closer look at the various types of special diamonds that Diamond Art Club currently has to offer. All of those shown today might be found in a variety of colors, as well as either round or square shapes. Ultimately, it's up to DAC's rendering team to choose and hand-chart these special drills for us in artwork that they feel suits it. We'll take a look at each of the special drill types in a tray, as well as examples of how they look on a completed canvas.
Specifically, we'll cover:
- What is a fairy dust diamond? What are electro diamonds? What are iridescent diamonds? How do glow in the dark diamonds look? And hopefully answer all of your questions about these various special drills!
Please note: this video is current as of Feb. 2023. However, DAC is regularly adding new features to their kits, so it's possible that additional types of diamonds may be added to their lineup after this video has been filmed.

I wish they’d offer this explanation on their website/app so we didn’t have to hunt one down. It’d also be nice if they told you which color in the kit was one of these types to make sure you actually got the correct ones. If I hadn’t found this video, I’d have no way to check that I actually got any of the special drills they claim to send with the kits

DAC is always surprising us and they listen to what we like and don't especially the symbols with arrows and other ones

Do you recommend a sealer on these different types of diamonds? If so, which brand?
If it's a high quality kit you won't need to seal them but mod podge works great if you choose to seal them
I use glue dots. Is that OK to use on the new diamonds?
I would think so! I haven’t used glue dots in quite awhile but if I’m remembering right, you probably don’t want to use “fresh” glue dots on special drills because it might be so sticky it doesn’t let go of the drill on the canvas, or pull off the special coating.
I just ordered 5 new paintings including Cats. I haven't ordered any for a long time and was surprised at how many new drills they have. I think between all my new kits, I have an assortment of all the new drills. I can't wait to get started. Thanks for your video.

I love the specialty diamonds but I’m most impressed how your trays look with all of the diamonds neatly in their rows. I haven’t figured out the witchcraft required to get more than a few turned up when I shake the tray. It’s amateur hour over here.

Unfortunately, we don't have the option of purchasing DAC's drills outside of the kits, though I've heard of people buying extras of kits before just to swipe the drills for other projects 😅

Are the special drills indicated in the painting description? I see ABs noted but not the others.
Yes! The others are usually noted in the description and stats. So, for example, in the description for “Mercury” it says under colors, “56 + 2 ABs PLUS 2 Fairy Dust Diamonds.” I hope that helps!

ok I need to ask, I have watched a lot of your vids for quite awhile but never say anything so basically Im a lurker, however this has me curious. I just started doing "a moment on memory lane" and it states just AB, but not the number. so I pulled out the number 1 and at first I thought ok an AB, but as I am laying down the beads they don't look like normal AB's. So wondering if DAC decided to throw in my kit the fairy dust beads instead? It doesn't state at all anything about special or extra beads, so does DAC do this sometimes?
Oh, good question! Not to my knowledge, especially with that being an older kit - it’s possible that there was a mixup with the factory, though. You could always take a pic of them and send it to their Customer Service email, and confirm whether it’s correct? Some ABs have a more subtle coating than others, too.
Oh I'm not complaining at all. I'm thinking maybe someone was having a very good day and they were happy go lucky. Lol these drills look spectacular.

Lol it’s really sad half of these drills have been out for a long time. However dac fans don’t even know about it till dac goes hey guess what we have drills you haven’t seen before. Then all dac fans jump on the bandwagon and think they are super special for using a drill on a painting that costs way more then it should
Hi there! I love that we’ve had special enhancement drills available from other shops for awhile, and I also love that DAC has started precharting them in their kits too! Honestly, even though these drill types have been around for awhile, I don’t enjoy the time and effort of figuring out where to swap them into my kits 😅 So hey, if a company with a pretty wide audience wants to make more diamond painters aware of these different kinds of diamonds and make them readily available to us in their kits, why complain? Frankly, we all benefit!
Even if what you say is true, what can be done? Inflation has pushed up the cost of everything.😔
I dont think personally its that we don't know what a crystal drill is or glitter drill or metallic drill is, I think people don't know what a faery dust drill, electro drill and iridescent drill is. I belive its due to the names they have chosen people doesn't know what they mean. I had no idea what they were but that's cause they had different names than what I was used to.
