Of course. I just started a new job at a machine shop. I've been there 2 months, I work in the same department as a woman who's been there for 9 years. She makes much more than I do at the present time. In the next year, I'll reach topout pay for my position and we'll make a comparable amount. But they didn't start me out at a higher wage because I'm male. Not even close. She made 6 thousand+ in January and I didn't come close to that. I'm not seeing the sexism.

Elizabeth Joy ik a couple months ago my history teacher was talking about the wage gap between genders and it hurt me. It was even in our textbooks. It’s pretty dumb actually like if woman get less money that’s means the employer would hire all women instead of men because he’d have to pay less for the workers. Buts that’s not what happens. Absolute BS that people believe in it and that they can teach it too
They want to compare wages of men and women, bring up the *DEATH GAP* in the workplace! Let's play their game, their way. Even better if we play it outraged. It shuts down their whole angle.
@Tucson Jim I agree but they're gonna say something like "but society" when nobody will condemn them for joining the military. But a man can't be a hairdresser without having to be gay
@Tucson Jim i was thinking of movies when I said the beard was cool. Class nowadays is determined by birth in alot if cases. The most common way people get rich is inheritance. This turns it into a race issue due to the black family trees rarely having a chance to get filthy rich. Also I don't know what a 529 is because I'm not an adult
"Women just have more of a heart to take care of their family" Gee, I guess I get up at 4:00 and work for 10 hours almost everyday because I don't want to take care of my family.
There are different ways the two genders take care of their family, should the man only work? Absolutely not, they should work absolutely and provide for his family, but he needs to be a role model and a leader as well. Some men do take advantage of the fact that they work to get away from their families absolutely, but I just hate the steroytype that because a man leaves the home and works, he doesn’t care about his family as much as his wife
@@0ptixs I could see why that stereotype hurts men, that's where the wife needs to have understanding about why her husband is working so much. This indolent tactic is everywhere in politics be it the gun debate, abortion, here in the "gender wage gap" and it's ridiculous. My favorite was in a debate about guns with a leftist coworker that always resorted to name calling, and when I gave her proof that not only do defensive uses of firearms save more lives than are taken, more people are killed with literally every other weapon including hands and feet than rifles (cause supposedly they don't want to take all your guns just the scary ones) and when I provided the source; CDC, she said we couldn't trust the government to provide accurate data. But we can trust them not to subjugate us after we've given up our only source of defense against such acts? The beauty of postmodernism, and why these feelings based people love it. Postmodern philosophy is framed around the rejection that objective reality exists, and therefore reason and logic aren't metrics of truth, but feelings are. Facts simply become evidence to support "your truth" and not "my truth" (how many times have you heard them use those terms eh?).

When I worked at McDonald’s, Dairy Queen, papa johns, everyone got paid equally. Except for the managers got paid more, which were usually females. I don’t understand what the wage gap means. I’ve never experienced it in 16 of my previous jobs. NOT ONCE If the job is equal to male and female, the wage is exactly the same. If the female wants to move up and work as a manager, she’ll get paid more. Just as a male would get paid more if he was a manager. Male and female managers got paid exactly the same. What is this gap that everyone is questioning??
The “wage gap” is, quite simply, the real dollar amount that men earn divided by the number of earners compared to the real dollar amount women earn divided by the number of earners. When looked at in raw dollars, with no other factors, men earn more than women on average. What they don’t mention is that men are more willing, again on average, to work longer hours (overtime pay), in dangerous locations like oil rigs and the like (hazard pay), and do filthy/boring jobs (plumber, welder, etc.) Another thing the people spouting-off about the wage gap fail to mention...when controlling for experience-level and job (which is to say: equally qualified candidates in the same position) women actually make slightly MORE than their male counterparts.

It would be more intetesting if you asked these women what their major is. Then find out if the know the pay for that job. Then ask why they didn't choose a major with higher pay in which men are studying.
It's not even about that men would have necessarily higher education (which is turning around for womans advantage), but more about the fact that men are more probable to choose jobs that are very dangerous or requires you to move around much and not let you have as much free time at home. These are just because of womans preferences to stay home and not wanting to get "dirty".
I'm in a STEM major right now, and the ratio of women to men in my classes shocked me. Most classes it ranges from 5% to 10% women. However, it's all about personal choices. I chose a field (computer engineering) that is growing the fastest as of right now. The demand is always going to be there, and the work in the field is at a high level. Most women choose an easier path but I've always been very ambitious. I love that there is never a line in the restroom in the engineering buildings.

In both cases one gender has a slighty higher chance for the job. But sadly in the well paid jobs men have a better chance (of course there are exceptions). Its a problem about sexism in the society. Not the official rules. To counter the sexism and get more women into positions where gender obiously doesnt matter (e.g. politics, physics science) alot of countries introduced a rule that slightly favours women. Once we feel that there is no sexism is gone in the society there will be no need to counter it with these rules. (actually the same logic applies to racism in job applications). @@naturabenne - Most college campuses are NOT "public property", even if they are state-run schools. Despite what many people think. While they usually do not prevent the public from entry or presence, they DO have the right to limit filming, recording, solicitation, and such. Most provide specific areas for such things, and require those who want to do them to register with the campus administration. That said, I find it saddening that many campuses use their policies to discriminate politically. They need to update their policies to be as "inclusive" as they claim to be. And *that* said, PragerU should have gone through channels to get permission. And record the calls and such and show which administrations refuse their requests and which ones allow them to come and engage the students with challenging questions on their views.
@Cerus98 - Check your legal knowledge. Just because an organization receives state or federal money does NOT mean they are a "public space". It means they cannot discriminate for admissions or employment. It means they cannot remove students or employees for expressing their opinions (unless doing so is to protect them or others, of if the expression of said opinions constitutes a criminal act). It does NOT make them "public property". Intel and AMD both receive state and federal money. They are NOT "public works", nor are their campuses "public property". Even the local water treatment facilities, which are WHOLLY run by local and state taxpayer money, are not considered "public property", even though they are wholly operated by the local government. If you are trespassing on the facility, they are well within their rights to ask you to leave, or to have you arrested for trespassing. "Public Property" has a VERY specific legal definition. And there are still laws as well as ordinances and rules that can apply. If I go to a Public Library, and create a disturbance, I can still be asked to leave, and if I refuse, they are well within their rights to have the police remove me or arrest me. The fact that it is a PUBLIC facility, on Public Land, does not change this. Disorderly Conduct, Creating a Disturbance, Trespassing....the list goes on. Just because it is "public space" does NOT mean that rules, ordinances, and laws suddenly get suspended. Go to a State Park. Start knocking over garbage cans and lighting the trash on fire. Heck, just start shouting stuff at other park patrons and wildlife. The Park staff will ask you to leave. If you don't, you will be arrested. Just because it is a "public space" doesn't mean there aren't rules you have to follow. It's important to know your rights. It's equally important to know WHERE THEY END. Too many people think that their "rights" go a LOT further than they actually do. And this gets them in trouble. (Σ)
Nope. We had so many initiatives to empower girls when I was in school, such as Take Your Daughter to Work day and bringing in women in cool jobs to talk to us. Including women in the STEM fields. That all helped prompt me to study biology in college, but it wasn’t the defining factor. That was my dad, who always supports me 100%. Women are different from men. We make different choices. It’s also illegal to pay women less than men has been since 1963. See the aptly named Equal Pay Act. Anyone with half a brain knows how easy it is to bias statistics to a party POV and that’s exactly what the whole “women make less than men” bs is.

Also, I love that the wage gap is real until they're persuaded that maybe women choose lower paying jobs, then the wage gap isn't real but it's the men's fault for conditioning women to choose lower paying jobs.
The girl in this said that most people try to pick jobs that pay a lot. But that’s not necessarily true. I’m a teacher, and I’ve always wanted to be a teacher even though I knew it wouldn’t pay well. But it was because I wanted to help teach the younger generations. Yeah, it would be great if it paid more, but I’m happy with the job and not the salary. So riddle me this. There are about 40 other teachers, and only 3 of them are men. Whereas in administration, the principal, vice principal, and superintendent are all men. Clearly the wage gap is based off of faulty statistics. All the did was average out the salary of women and compared it to men, without taking into account that many more men are in well paying STEM careers or administrative positions in businesses, where as most women have less paying jobs like teachers.
When I was a public school teacher I earned the same amount as every man with my years of experience and work load. Today, this seems to be the norm for every professional or hourly‐wage job. Why the complaints?
They complain becuase someone made stupid calculation of how people earn. They took all women and all man and they added salaries and dived that number with count of people. So basically they got how much avrage man earns and how much average women earns. They concluded that women make 77c for each dollar man make "for the same job" and that is ridiculous conslusion.
Heres an unpopular opinion. Maybe men just make better leaders. Its almost as if men and women are different, and thus have different strengths and weaknesses. Generally speaking of course, obviously any talented individual can achieve anything, regardless of sex.
Why would men be better leaders? And why would leaders get paid more in the first place? If your answer to the last question is "leaders are better at the job they do" youre also saying men are better than women - in general. Do you think that is true?
mr82769 it’s sort of like a natural instinct. In the past, men have always stepped up to the plate whenever it came to leading people. They lead the family and work for the family, they filled all political seats and were kings and shit. It’s possible being a leader is something that comes natural to lots of men. Ofc there are other factors, such as education and background but men have proven themselves to make some of the best leaders. That obviously doesn’t mean a women can’t be a good leader either. What I’m trying to say is that it’s possible that men could be better suited for leading positions. Also no one said men are better than women (although it’s quite possible that the average male triumphs over the average women in more ways than one. That’s a possibility but that isn’t the current topic. ), what is trying to be said is that maybe men are better suited for leading positions, kind of how women are better suited for care-taking positions (nurse, housewife, teacher, etc) and also cooking positions. Ya get that man?
mr82769 although I don’t exactly agree with the first part (I more just don’t see the reasoning behind it) the last part is definitely true. He wasn’t claiming men were better than women, he was claiming men are better than women and certain things and vise versa. This is just the way our brains and bodies are created. For example, men are naturally built to be stronger, are more assertive, and have better decision making skills. That doesn’t mean a 60 year old fat man could beat a 20 year old professionals kick boxer. It means men naturally gain more muscle easier and faster and therefore are more suited for jobs like heavy construction, military services, police and firemen. While men have a few valuable advantages, women have advantages as well women have more and better connections between neurons, this gives them many neurological advantages like better perception, reflexes, verbal fluency, memory, focus, and better at recognizing emotions. This makes women better suited for jobs like therapists, teachers, caretakers, and medical staff. The wage gap exists because jobs that require manual labor are usually more dangerous and therefore need to have better pay in order for people to be willing to do them. Although both genders can also do these jobs but it will take more effort to achieve it. As for women being leaders I see no reason that men would be more suitable as leaders than women.
Woman 1:09 : Nah I don't think anyone would pick a job that pays less. Me: *It's not always about money!* Some people are happy doing something they're passionate about.
I love their responses. It’s like “look I’m in college and know big words and think capitalism is bad, I saw the media say it was real, I’ve never been in a relationship or done anything physically or mentally demanding besides essays about women’s issues but society forces us to stay home with children.”
Yep, it is for male nurses. Also, women in healthcare positions who are willing to work long hours, and travel and who are above the age of 40-45 make more $$.
Male nurses probably should get paid more per hour as well. All the male nurses I know are automatically delegated to do all of the heavy lifting, usually unassisted, whenever they're on duty. It isn't easy to roll a 300 pound half-sedated patient, and it causes some serious injuries at times. But in the end that's just the role given to men because they are men, and everyone is paid the same per hour.
Women and men above the ages of 40-45 have work experience and better negotiating skills. Of course, they'll attempt to negotiate a higher salary than say, a new graduate. Anything you can offer the Co. - experience, longer hours, weekends, traveling, special training, etc.- are negotiating points. This is true in any field.
@Suffer No Fools, certainly there must be more to the story than "We don't like white men. Get out". You'd be telling about your lawsuit, if this were the whole story.

There are different ways the two genders take care of their family, should the man only work? Some men do take advantage of the fact that they work to get away from their families absolutely, but I just hate the steroytype that because a man leaves the home and works, he doesn’t care about his family as much as his wife

What they don’t mention is that men are more willing, again on average, to work longer hours (overtime pay), in dangerous locations like oil rigs and the like (hazard pay), and do filthy/boring jobs (plumber, welder, etc.)
Another thing the people spouting-off about the wage gap fail to mention...when controlling for experience-level and job (which is to say: equally qualified candidates in the same position) women actually make slightly MORE than their male counterparts.

And there are more black players than white
@@J5HUA that's my point, there are perfectly good reasons for the pay gap.

The FEW women that work in my industry, steel producing, make EXACTLY the same as the men on a per hour basis. However, on an annual basis the men make much more because they are willing to work the overtime. Most of the women leave at 8 hours. It's 100% their choice. The opportunity is exactly the same for everyone and none of them cry about not making the same amount as the men at the end of the year.
I am involved with the maintenance and repair side of steel producing where more money is to be made per hour and per year and there are zero women involved currently in a crew of nearly 100. Women making choices! Balancing the needs of their family with their need to work.
I "worked" as a stay at home dad for 6 months. Easiest "job" I ever had. Got up, made coffee, made breakfast for my kid, made her school lunch, drove her to school. Did some laundry, while watching TV. Did some shopping. Picked up the house. Prepped for dinner. Picked up kid from school. Not hard. I felt like I was on a 6 month vacation.

I'm going into nursing because I love the medical field but med school does NOT sound appealing to me. This is COMPLETELY my personal decision.

Generally speaking of course, obviously any talented individual can achieve anything, regardless of sex.
Wow, this is just like the sub r/unpopularopinions, no actual unpopular opinion
The truth is always unpopular.

Yep, it is for male nurses. Also, women in healthcare positions who are willing to work long hours, and travel and who are above the age of 40-45 make more $$.
and male models get paid way less but they deserve to lol
