Steve-o been saying that for a while now. At one point he let himself go too i figured it was due to shortage of movie funding but looks like he cleaned up well!
Mechanical engineer here .. when you get a damaged wheel broken control arm whatever you should also check the wishbones and all other suspension components for damage.. I'm sure you do.. however if they're made of aluminium they need removing and non-destructive testing carried out, as they may have hairline cracks which you can't see, you can buy some penetrat fluid and use that method... but to be honest some proper ultrasonic testing or other nondestructive testing should be carried out by an professional. You don't want to be doing 150mph down the road and get a suspension failure.. any failure is going to happen under hi stresses.. so when you're cornering heavily or even worse cornering heavily at hi speed. This also goes for any other aluminium component which is structural ... You can't just heat it up and hammer it flat.. NDT is required.. the components structural integrity needs be confirmed.
Don't forget the camera makes it look better than it is. Aluminium rails on a supercar, high speed, high power. Down force, lateral loading etc, you need to ensure rails are factory spec laser aligned and not compromised. Eyecrometer will not suffice. We have flags applied to our write offs and imports so that repairs are carried out in accordance to manufacturers specs. Only then can the flag be removed, and not in every instance, notes are logged against the vin.

If he got the car for around 20 to 30 and then spend another 40 he is still below market average for a Lamborghini especially if you consider a a Lamborghini form 2004 cost 90 k to 115k depending on condition and mileage

This is the expensive part and only works if you have someone like vtuned willing to do work on the cheap because that is custom fabrication on an aluminum frame, the major reason it was totaled out. How is a regular person going to find a shop to do that and keep your rebuild under budget?

Vtuned has the proper skills Sam was looking for, in framework and fabrication, which is why he sent his Focus RS down to him first, to correct the boggy work he had paid for from some other shop, which is the reason why he left the Focus out in the field for so long. It's good for Sam's projects as well as Vtuned will show aspects of the process Sam couldn't show before.

Being AWD remember that if you replace one tire, you should replace all 4. The diffs don't like driving with miss matched tires. A couple of mm's of wear could cause issues.

If you're gonna fix the tear at 8:26 you wanna drill a *small* hole at the end of it, to stop the tear from growing (even after repair). Tears in plastic tend to keep growing if the don't end in an artificial spot (drillhole). Source: I used to do car body paint for Audi, not very good, but I know the theory.
Sam does his research and has a good idea of what he might get into before he buys which is the smart way to do it. Yes he's had a couple bad ones but he's learned a lot and luck has been on his side too !!

A new headlight for my VW Phaeton is $1,500 last time I looked. Might be higher now. I miss the old days when you just bought the headlamp for like $10. The "anti-dazzle" glass in the side mirrors is $1,500 for each mirror. Made me almost eat my shorts.
You can source those kind of things used from exotic car dismantlers/recyclers. Fraction of the prize. For example, I believe ONE brake rotor for a Murciélago is ~$4000. You can get both fronts slightly used for $1200-1500. There are ways to save thousands even on these cars, while still keeping the quality there. This is also the reason why cars such as these are still worth a lot as parts cars. EVERYTHING is expensive, if you can salvage a good engine, good wheels, headlights, and one good body panel, it yields quite a bit of money.
I owned a Gallardo. Exotic mileage much different than sports car or luxury car mileage. Once an exotic’s mileage is over 5000 miles, that is high mileage and resale really starts to dive. A high end Porsche that high mileage mark is 20,000 miles. I love your build! Too bad you can not get rid of the salvage title when the frame was not damaged!

Little correction there: Aluminium alloys in general are not brittle, they usually have more elongation than steel alloys while mostly having less yield strength. Glad I could help, Captain flies away.
