  • February 1st & 2nd would see a epic bumper of USATC S160's running on the Churnet Valley Railway in Staffordshire, including the steeply graded Cauldon Lowe branch to Ipstone. Locos No.5197, 6046 and the immaculately maroon liveried 2253 'Omaha' had the honors of running up and down the line working top and tail, sometimes with two S160s on the front or rear. But the most epic of all is the triple heading on the final working of the day! This happened to be the very first time that three S160s worked together, and what a very rare sight to witness in awe. A combined total tractive effort of 94,470 lbf!
A very fine event with some American flavor to it. So just sit back, relax and turn up the volume! This was my very first time to ever visit the railway and its one very lovely and scenic line with some interesting unique character and history to it.
