I never cared much for the Mendelssohn concerto. Thanks to this video with Ferras playing it now I love it. What an emotional and deep sound he has! Thanks so much for uploading!
I have to wonder, what made him start playing with a shoulder rest, when he clearly used neither shoulder or chin rest in his younger days? Changing times demanding compromise, I suppose. That must have hurt him deeply.
He is a human in everyday life. But his playing belongs to another world above.
Never heard a mendelssohn concerto played so beautifully. Ferras is the ULTIMATE.
In my opinion, this man was probably the greatest violinist ever, in the real sense of the word "great".
Can't agree with you more!!!
The best and the greatest violonist is jascha heifetz
The greatest violinist was sir Menuhin.
Such emotion! His vibrato was and is still untouchable.
Remembering CHRISTIAN FERRAS, who died on this day in 1982.
