Now here's the rub, Doc Luc is a muscle expert not a cancer specialist (aka oncologist) so his advice for cancer patients may help them keep muscle, but it may also be the worst thing for their survival! Meat and dairy accelerate the growth certain prostate cancers for example. Nutrition is complicated and a little knowledge, no matter how well intentioned, is still a dangerous thing.

I've been intermittent fasting, eating high protein including plant based protein and self educating (with the help of a Doc friend) for oh, 35 years. You see I'm a double amputee, I walk on 2 prostheses. It's imperative that I understand what I eat and how to eat to keep an optimum weight while eating as clean as I can so I can stay bipedal as well as healthy. Please try to be kind and considerate. Methionine:
      Sunflower seeds
      Tofu

      Black beans
      Refried beans
      Cashews
      Leucine:
      Tofu

(would look into supplementation here, even the two listed above are still relatively low in leucine compared to animal products)
      Lysine:
      Pumpkin Seeds
      Lentils
      Almonds

Lentils are a good source of leucine and lysine. I use Cronometer to track my intake (more like an audit of a few days of a week every so often), and I've literally never run low on any of the 3. And I've customized my goal of leucine intake to 10 g instead of 2.
I eat beans, lentils, tofu, and other whole soy products. I do not eat animal products. I'm not focused on protein all that much either, and I eat probably 1500 calories a day.
      It really isn't that hard.
I'm a cancer survivor. Vegan before, during, and after. I tolerated chemo better than anyone else I know. My labs stayed normal or very close to it. My white count never even got low. My iron levels were fine. I kept working. I kept up a lot of my life as normal. I'm a firm believer that my nutrition and my physical activity are why.

It's a hassle. Vitamin wise, there's vitB, vitD&K, iron, sulfur(msm), calcium, magnesium. Protein wise, I'm supplementing creatine and alcar besides soy isolate powder. But I'm still having low blood pressure, probably because of low lysine and metheonine content in soy isolate powder. I could increase my overalll protein consumption. But I decide to supplement lysine and sam-e for a try.

Some people have decided that it's an appropriate trade-off to make their diet more challenging (vegan) in order to minimize the amount of suffering their life inflicts on other conscious creatures. As far as we know, there's nothing it's like to be a plant (only the very fringe think plants could have consciousness or experience something like pain or fear), but a cow can almost certainly have as rich of an inner experience as a pet dog does.
