The concept is definitely the future of NPC's. You could definitely work on the voices though, look at ElevenLabs AI. They sound real.

I have been testing it in Unreal Engine 5 and this tool is incredibly good, the only bad thing is that it is not in more languages like Spanish, but I suppose that it will be a matter of time or that over time there will be a way to achieve it, then it will be a almost perfect tool :)

Just me setting up one ai it shut down my game saying it wasn't working I thought it was on my end so i wiped my project and replaced it with a backup because the customer service didn't reply until way later.

Is it accurate how fast the characters react in this video, or will there be some sort of delay?
Also, can convai be used offline?
Our primary focus is low latency and quick response times! We are focused on making the interaction as natural as possible!
The problem is, that you probably need to map each action still, the AI can't do anything in the game that is not explicitly programmed/animated in. The AI cannot dynamically create new behaviour here, its just textgen that has access to some kind of game api you give it access to, and it takes its best guess of which api command you mean when you tell it to use a rocket launcher.

It looks great. My concern is the cost, paying per interaction. Might make next to nothing on the game and quickly go in the hole when players interact with NPCs.
There are creative ways of rethinking the pricing within a game. Now your assets and 3D content get a longer life because there is more interaction possible!

This is amazing. But why so much can the interactions be unlimited, because this is only for corporates. 0.05 cents per interaction is going to make it impossible for single or even small companies to use this amazing asset. Please help the small people!!!!!!
No, Convai isn't going to go anywhere. Last time I played with it you couldn't even create a villainous character and the bot refused to swear. Think about the top triple A games and tell me that Convai would be a good fit with that limitation?
We are working on better and better characters with more flexibility.
the dialogues are pretty natural but the ai-gen voice is very robotic.
We are working on better voices every day. We want to have really fast responses to feel as natural as possible, but we have to sacrifice a bit the quality of the voice for that.
@@convai thanks, my friends and I were testing some voice gen models recently for work and the high quality ones have super high latency

I hope they have better voice talent and more personality. This video and dialogue was not done by game designers or movie people.
Maybe AI did the video too…
