Thundercats is about fit muscular body with agility in 80's leotards involving martial arts + gymnastics fighting. These elements were non-existence in the 2011 reboot.
The 2011 series was my first introduction into the Thundercats franchise and it was absolutely awesome and needs to be brought back. It had a solid plot, great simple would building and put a fascinating spin on the mythology.
I think 2011 thundercats could still be saved if it had been moved to a streaming site like Netflix and continued from there. It worked for votron, she-ra and now the new he-man as well as rise of tmnt movie. I still have hope that we will get a proper continuation and conclusion to the story. But only if we the fans convince them, if it worked for samurai jack, rottmnt and young justice. Then there is still a chance.

While I don't really know anything about the 80's show (I'm just not interested), but the 2011 series is one of my favorite shows of all time. Although the season two plans sounded pretty bad. I think the franchise could succeed in the modern age, but it just hasn't been given a chance.

A live-action miniseries or film of the origin story could work well if it had high level production values and targeted the original fans instead of today's youth.
Airing shows or movies without endings have got to be the worst thing these TV shows and movies bn doin to viewers. Why do we pay to watch these online streaming platforms and cables tvs for movies and shows with no ending ? It should not be allowed to air a show or movie if it wasn't gna have a damn ending ,at the least people should not pay for this ,it's just not right , I would never watch a movie or show if I knew it was gna get cancled no matter how good it is I would not watch it . This is ridiculous and we let it happen.
Im old enough to have watched the original 80s Thundercats when it first aired. I loved it then but watching it on YT now it’s really corny 80s cringe. Not to mention the character animation styles were kinda inconsistent, like different animators were drawing the characters depending on the episode. I really liked the 2011 reimagining. Yes the story was different from the original and darker but remember that fans of the original show were in their late 30s & 40s by 2011 & we had been exposed to anime for decades so the corny cringy episodic 80s style of storytelling wasn’t gonna fly. Also, the fact that it aired on Adult Swim late at night made it hard for us adults to watch the show. We needed to sleep so we could adult during the day. Unless you DVR’d the show you couldn’t watch it. Not to mention CN kept changing the time slot randomly. They basically gave Thundercats 2011 the Firefly treatment.

I love the animation style of the original even though, like most after-school cartoons, it may been a little preachy at the end of each episode...or maybe that was He-Man. I didn't see too much more than brief snippets.
