Not too bad for 100m with the ammo used. Wish I had a no wind location, but it is fun to factor in wind at 100 & 200m with 22LR. I use a 457 Varmint (non MTR) with a shimmed the bolt for 43/1000" headspace. Try SK Standard Plus and Rifle Match (mine loves this), Eley Target and Club also works well for the lower end match ammo. Eley Team, Match and Tenex are great, but very pricey (and not realistically better than SK Rifle Match). Don't waste your time with HV ammo in 22LR precision shooting, they rarely group very tight; but they can be helpful with longer (200M) shots with some windy conditions. The best low end budget ammo are CCI SV and Aguila SV 40gr, won't quite match SK and Eley with some fliers; but they do group decent in most rifles.
Thank you for taking the time to let me know about the ammo that works well in your CZ457. I'll see if I can give the SK and Eley a go. Mine does seem to like subsonic ammo and you're right about the HV. Thanks again.
SK and Eley uses different lube. It is good to shoot a few rounds as foulers when you switch between different ammo, will reduce the likelihood hood of flyers with the higher quality ammo. Wasn’t clear on your video when you tested. Looking forward to seeing your updates.
@@JonCresswellUk well there is much more you should know then. Please check out Pursuit of Accuracy channel here on YT. He has many good videos on maintenance and gear options that will save you time and money. I just watch his channel but i had a buddy that gave me so much of the same info many years ago. POA lays it all out and explains the bigger points very well. He also does allot with the 457 platform. Wish you the best and look forward to some more good shooting. That rifle can have sub 1 inch groups at 100m, when you have the right ammo. 😉. Happy shooting
None of the ammo that you tested would I consider to be quality ammo, in fact I wouldn't even use it for plinking. My CZ 457 MTR 20" shoots sub MOA at 50 and 100mtrs using SK Rifle Match.
@@JonCresswellUk Good luck at getting some. SK belongs to Lapua and it's made in Germany. Now I live in Germany and SK ammo is as rare as rocking horse Shiz.
another nice review for the lrp. the groups just get better if you use match ammo .can i ask where you got your 10 round steel mags from?
I got the mags from Sportsman Gun Centre, they ordered them in for me
I need to try some match ammo 👍👍
Man, for the mtr chamber and no wind, I expected 1/2 groups at most.
Maybe if I was a better shot I’d have tighter groups 😊 the rifle outshoots my skills
Nice matey. That's what I want to do test different ammo.
Thanks 😊 I’ve got a few more I’d like to try too, but I’m seeing my rifle favouring subsonic ammo
Ok thats interesting I've not tried subsonic ammo yet. The Tikka likes the SK ammo at the moment.
@@miked5593 I’ve not tried SK yet either 👍

@abengelbrecht I’ve definitely noticed that some lube on ammo is dirtier than others. thank you 🙏
Is that shooting range in the uk, where abouts is it. 👍
Yes, it’s the “Tunnel Target Sports Centre” in Charmouth. They also have shooting experiences people can do if they don’t have a license.
Thank you John. I’ll get them checked out, looks great.
👍👍
Nice shooting !!
Thanks 😊 the rifle is great 👍
If you normally shoot with a mod on surely you need to test ammo with it on?
I shoot with both mod and brake, so wanted to test with both.
What is name of the tool you used to measure the bullet velocity?
It’s a Magnetospeed V3. They come in plastic case or bag options so are nice am small if you wanted to stow one in your range gear.
You should only be shooting sub sonic rds. Pretty good shooting though. 👍
The subs group nicely
@@JonCresswellUk 95% of match grade are subs. Those coated bullets are a waste of time. CCI green tag is ok but even the cheapest eley is better.
@@pranc236 I didn’t know that 🤔 that is good to know 👍

@geordiegeorge9041 lol never say never. I’ll hunt around
Distance?
100m
Russian baikal 141 only one hole🔥
Sounds good! I’m thinking a barrel tuner might help me too?
