- On this episode we go behind the scenes and work on Pigpen. This truck made its way into the Motortrend family several years ago on an episode of Roadkill. It sat in a junkyard for decades until David Freiburger and Mike Finnegan saved it. It sat for several years until Mike Cotten and myself got our hands on it for an episode of Faster with Newbern and Cotten. We body swapped it onto a 1987 s15 chassis and stuffed the engine bay with an LS7 making 630 hp. Its backed by a Gearstar Performance Transmssions 4l80e and a Quick Performance 9" Rearend. I completely wired the truck and made it street legal and we updated the EFI from an old hacked up MSD setup to a Holley Terminator X.

David the work you Cotten did to Pig Pen is incredible ever since Roadkill first pulled out of the junk yard I always hoped they would do something to truck. I'm so happy with what you and Cotten did to it

I really have nothing against Finn, I don't, but I enjoy watching Newbern and Cotton more for sure. I don't even really know why? I think it's because I can relate to them more? Less "Hollywood?" I don't know.
Finn has turned into a merch/salesman.

On the Holley terminator, our teacher just despised every time someone would say “it’s self tuning” 😂😂😂 I use the keypad to configure first time to fire a engine up, everything else I use laptop to tune on it 👍🏻🙌🏼🔧🔧🔧 I wish you had shown where they put the motorcycle in the hauler 😂😂😂 I once had to load a truck onto my big trailer and back up to the hot shot haulers trailer because he forgot his ramps 😂😂😂😂😂😂
i mean it is a self tuning system anyways. it isnt called self learning for no reason. it quite literally does what it says it does. it tunes the engine to its needs and wants and makes the basic fuel/tune curve for you. I have this on an issue of hot rod magezine. it does 80 percent of the work for you leaving you 20% of the stuff you can make a custom tune out of
@@jackmagnium6115 the teacher didn't like that saying because the marketing never mentions the 20%, you are right it does 80% for you. but his problem was marketing leads it to be 100% 😂😂😂😂😂😂 we use Terminator X on most all of our projects 👌👌✋✋👍👍🔧🔧🔧🔧🔧🔧

It’s insane what seats cost. Very reason I taught myself how to make my own. I’m not really good at it but i satisfy myself and that’s all that matters to me.

Good times 🎉 I remember when they got it going at the junk yard and headed down the 99 with magnetic flashlights on the hood for lights. Then it broke down 🎉
I had my trade in car trailered to Paris, Kentucky and my new car trailered back to Houston, TX from KY, both instances the drivers were Eastern Europeans with heavy Russian accents. I could barely understand them. I was just glad both cars made it to their destinations without issues.

Here is something you might think about. You can pull the dash out of it and put a PT Cruiser dash in it, there is no cutting it's the same size and shape. I have done 3 1950, 51 and 52"s. and use the digital gauges that are in it. Sure makes it look a lot better in there

I got a 50 chevy last year, and a 2005 2wd 1500 frame, the plans are similar to PigPen, but I think I will paint mine. The patina isn't great and its kinda played out around here. 6.0, cam, headers, 4L80, slammed but still capable of pulling my trailer, should be a fun build when I get to it.
