Love the way it comes out. I used your idea as well ro build a small road for a ghostbusters city street project i started working on. Cant wait till its done since I added lights and all to it too.
Look Great Daryl but did you allow a gap underneath for all the wiring you going put in your city because I couldn’t see any gap between the road and the baseplate?????
Awesome video! As much as I would love to do the MILS plate system, it's just to piece intensive for me. But maybe it would be the way to go. I'm not a fan of how Lego has the road plates grouped together I'd rather have it like they used to package them with either two of the same road plate. Great job on showing how do make an eight wide road plate. 👍👍
Thanks for sharing! I was wondering though, doesn’t this drive the price of building your city up compared to using road plates? In my opinion, as I have been slowly building a city myself, getting enough road plates is costly and a pain in the but with the way they force you to buy them in the bundle packs. I was just wondering if you could compare and contrast using road plates vs. the mills plates. Thanks.
Very nice Daryle! Do you notice any sagging of the bricks at the middle when building on a road baseplate vs. a regular one? Also, have you considered using a 1x light bluish gray (LBG) plate at the edge of the road or 4x4 LBG? That way the base of the curb matches the tile on top.
Hey Bevin bricks. I have decide to use the mils plate system. I am only using a couple straight and t-cross roads to lower costs. I thought I saw a video tutorial on the t roads but I cant find it. If there isn’t one and I’m just not remembering that well, can u make a tutorial. Thanks
Hello bevin, I saw you put your train tracks in the road using this system. I thought it would be very interesting to do. Could you do a tutorial on that. That would be awesome thanks.
TY :). I have seen your youtube videos showing the inside of your airport, shown in intro span. Is the building with all the windows on your playlist + how can I find it. You are doing amazing detailed scenes.
This road system could be very easily adapted to different types of roads, like ones with parallel parking spots, protected bike lanes or recessed tram tracks. You could even take a chunk out to easily set up a road repair scene. Is this something you might consider, making some unique roads for your city?
I love this (and your other videos!). I know this was posted years ago, but I wanted to do my due diligence before asking. How could I incorporate a train track within the MILS road (say the left lane or the right lane)? Applications could be a trolley like the Winter Village Main St or a San Francisco style city.
Hey Bevin! I thought of giving this mils road a try for when I have the room to start a city but when I made 2 mils roads and put them together there was a noticeable gap between them any suggestions as to how to fix it or make the gap smaller. Thanks and keep up the great videos!!
Amazing work, but I have a question. I built a whole bunch of these, and no matter what I seem to do, there's always a gap between the road section when I connect two or more together. Do you have any tips for how to remedy that?
Yes there will be a gap between the two plates. To me it's not a big deal as there is always cut lines and actual concrete roads also. This is an expensive option but the only way to remedy that is when you have a long continuous Road you make it one continuous build and to avoid the issue with the shrinkage you use 1 by 12 bricks
I noticed in the last mils plate video you used headlight bricks to snap the road to the baseplate. Is the technic brick better to use or did you use it because the road is wider?
I just use the 32x32 baseplates because I don't have that many bricks and it is expensive to make that road out of bricks. I'm so sad that I cant make it, it looks so nice😢😢😢
Hey - love the videos. I have very limited space thought so thinking of doing a 32x32 mils plate with road and rail... do you think this would work? Essentially making a loop 4 plates up and 8 across... Happy to do left turns for the roads rather than complicated curves but wonder if there will be enough room for the train to turn? Any thoughts or suggestions?
@@BevinsBricksWorld I have redesigned and I’m going to do a 2 level table with rollercoaster and trains on the bottom level :). I do have another quick question. What do you think about building a mils plate up from the 2 x 32x16 base plates that all my modular a seem to have come with? Will it still work ok?
I don't like the idea of using Technic piece to hold the road. It is widely considered unhealthy for the bricks. Better option would be to use "headlight" 1x1 brick.
Your video is clear as a bell. Nice work Daryl.
This is a project for waaay in the future for me. Thanks for sharing your creativity

@@BevinsBricksWorld Great. I look forward to it.
Thanks! This is a great alternative to the typical official lego road plates!
I would not have thought of trying to build road plates, it's a really clever idea, but you certainly need lots of bricks

Good video Daryl... you make the process very easy to understand. :-)

For straights its simple just tile it into the road, but curves are a bit more tricky
Theses are amazing and I was wondering what you estimate the cost for each baseplate in this build deign?

How many parts takes it to make one of these plates? I read in the comments about $20 per plate but not how many parts it takes.
