Finally a good point for not having to replace all the roads in a city to a new system: a real city also has different road styles and widths. You can mix different road styles in a city, just as in a real city!
I’m stealing that bus stop build! Haha. Please don’t misunderstand me, I loved the road video. But for some reason I kept looking at your bus stop. Genius use of the new road plates slope as the roof. Please keep up your amazing work! Also, Happy Birthday!
The more and more I see and use the new road plate system, the more I realize how amazing it is! It's so versatile and you can do so much it! I know people will still have their love for the old road base plates, but the new road plates are cool!
These look amazing. We're already planning to build sidewalks onto our roadplates, but we LOVE the curbs and drains you've built on yours. Definltey gonna try something similar out in our city!
The hollow space on either side under the sidewalks would be a great place to hide wires to light the city! ...and I just bought a bunch of the old road plates haha
Really cool to see all the different ways you can use the new roadplates! I’ll personally stick to the old roadplates though, but I would like to use MILS roads if I’m ever able to build a permanent city
your road plate videos always scare me. I am already in the process of changing my whole city to mils plates, and every video you post gives me new ideas. the bricklink orders never stop coming. I CANT AFFORD THIS!!!!!!
I adore the new road plates, they are so much better looking than every brick-built road I've seen. The thing that drives me nuts, is the 16-wide roads. I mean, it makes the sidewalks when you put one of these next to a modular with the standard sidewalk, look HUGE! I limit my sidewalk on my road plates to just 4 studs on either side of the road, and when blended with the modular sidewalks it seems more reasonable... Unless the plan is to put the planter areas on the road plates some locales have. :) I love the curbs, and now I'm plotting my next bricklink order as I'm slowly working on redeveloping my city after my recent move... and There's so much to think about! :D I've been using the road plates and 48x48 baseplates to create boulevard roads for my main drag, and I built them with an option to be planters/trees/green belt in the middle, OR a trolly track. :) Cool Build! Love it! :)
I personally like wide sidewalks because you can add more items without it affecting minifigure walking space. For example street lights, trees, benches, payphones and paper boxes to name a few. You can brick build the lanes to be wider as well and still use the new road plates to help make the sidewalks smaller. :)
I have been using the new road plates in my city, and this look is really great. I already have everything on MILS so I will be looking at what it is going to take ($) to add this curb in my city.
the more i see people like you play with these new plates, the more they grow on me. not building a city any time soon but man have i seen alotta good stuff with them
Nice idea maybe Add this style to the roads around the airport it would give the roads a privater loook and happy birthday may you get more lego to quench my thirst for the same 😅😅😂
Your thoughts about this plates is pretty similar to mine... From the release of these plates, I was happy about all the different possibilities with them... And now I see, I was right...
Hi Daryl, Thanks for the upload. I like these curved slopes here very much, it looks quite sleek! Good to see so many different people coming up with alternate solutions to use the new plates.
@@BevinsBricksWorld im starting to think that maybe this was something a lot of us needed to be inspired again to create new findings in Lego roadwork!
Yes - these curved slopes look very slick as curbs but I guess you have to break that pattern on every corner ? I think your original design with the new road plates and straight curbs is a bit easier to handle in that regard.
I am going to have to use these new road plates since I wanted a city and I planned to start in 2021. Your videos have really helped me embrace the new roads even though I absolutley hated them in the beginning. It will be expensive but hopefully it will be worth it in the end.
I think that curb and gutter look is really nice. I'd be interested to see how you would finish off a corner at an intersection with this curb style, also incorporating wheelchair access ramps at the crosswalk.
I am finally getting around to putting together a Lego city and I am using these newer road plates. This looks great. One thing that I really like is how you used the ramp for the roof of the bus stop. I have many of these ramps that I am not using and I am looking for other ways to use them--your video showed a nice way of doing this.
People need to realize this is meant for kids. And if I had this growing up I'd be able to fit so much more structure close together than with the base plates I had as a kid. Those plates seriously limited your space. And I remember I had to squeeze everything in in my bedroom to fit all my buildings the road and train sets haha.
I like these plates myself. Hope they offer more colors at some point. But you are right they are intended for kids. That's basically what all city sets are intended for now.
I like the new road plates mainly for the ease and build ability they offer. While I don’t use the roads with curbs or sidewalks, I may have to from now on if you keep finding great ways to showcase the roads.
The curb looks really cool nicely softens the approach to the road. But still annoyed with the cut outs on the road plates and think the original sideways mils look better.
I really like this design but would definitely have to widen the lanes but man I love rhe curb look and the drains just look so realistic. Awesome job bro and thanks for sharing.
Wow that looks good, with the 2 sets I got of the t junction, I actually had fun with it. I don't have a city and just have city and creator 3 in 1 buildings I managed to create a bit of a t junction section of a "city". With the creator modern town house and petshop/coffee shop forget it's full name, as the main focus of it. I don't have much 2x2 tiles but I managed to make a side walk for the corner building, the focus building. What I did was use the green plates on the sides and the 2x4 to connect, then 2x4 in the areas in between, 1x4 to fill it in, leaving 2 studs for the buildings to connect. For the modern town house set, I added 2x whatever plates to add additional surface, then connecting on top with my tiles. Then 2x2 plates under the set to lift it up connecting it to the road section by the additional 2 stud plates i added. Looked good for just a basic setup.
I’m an AFOL with limited LEGO space. These new plates are fantastic. The lanes on the “old” baseplates were way too wide. The packs of the baseplates were never on store shelves outside of a LEGO store. The new road plates are more readily available aiding in city expansions. What is with all of the love for the old curves? The vast majority of cities are based on a grid pattern, no curves. Even the corner modulars have sharp corners, imagine the entrance and exit of the corner garage needing 32 studs worth of curve to enter. The corner plates did not seem as useful. But, this opinion is from a new AFOL who only had a taste of the old roads before these were introduced. Sorry this was so long.
Those curves wow that's an idea. I prefer the versatility of the new road system but I have sympathy to those who don't want to invest all that time and money into lego roads.
Seeing as I don't build city, this set is not as important to me, however I do have other ideas for them. Nobody is buying them here so if I want them, there are 3 and can be mine.
So far, the curved edge os my favorite way to utilize the new road plates. Great job! JANGBricks had a method to use two roads side by side to facilitate the large 6-8 wide cars. Thoughts?
Hey Daryl. Trying to figure out which way I am going to go with my roads. Been watching a lot of the mils roads stuff. Did you ever go back and get this T section to look like the curved curb look that you showed us in this video? Would be curious to know how you did it.
@@BevinsBricksWorld That is exactly what I was thinking about it. That is the only part that would be a problem. Also, those curved parts for the curbs are not that cheap. But man, you are right, it looks amazing.
I was not planing to use the new roads in my city and I was very wrong because since January I have added 2 of the road packs and the skate park which was planed to be added into my city with 3 more road packs on the way so my city will be back to normal in the next month and a half or so.
I think the biggest problem is people don't like change. However, with that being said, Lego should have come out with this type of concept instead of the original design they did.
Hello, I am a new subscriber to your channel, I think you have some fantastic builds, absolutely love them, I have question please can you tell me how you built the bus stop? Ash
I do brick built roads in my city. But a good cheaper option is using the new road plates in a mils as well. I sell instructions for both versions on my website and they are currently on sale half off.
All of the match to scale road concepts are separate element constructions. The secondary market...owned by TLG....will never be without any fabricated part. Prices next to gold is the standard of perfection, yes. The documentation of building with the new Road thing is helping everyone everywhere, good show! Bro, I’m confused. It seems like those two roads wouldn’t line up properly since the new small ones road plates isn’t sitting on 2x2 plates but your large one is. Does the curb work best with 1 or 2 studs in height? Or are your brick built roads with 1x2’s thinner than the road plate?
@@BevinsBricksWorld yeah, that’s what I was thinking. I’m being over analytical here lol!
