I remember struggling with this as a teen in the 80s before all this UA-cam malarky. I have never seen anyone mention this whole thumb pivoting thing. You sir are, as always, a genius and I really appreciate the lesson. Cheers.
Congratulations on this initiative, I think it is a great idea and a great help to progress, especially for newbies like me. Thanks to you and the whole Band from Spain. Keep going!
This is such a great song to learn, it’s such fun to play and it’s really achievable with some practice even if your a complete beginner. Also All of the day and all of the night is another great song and it’s very similar to this, you play the same cords but in a different order.
A few years ago back in grade 6 we were asked to play this song. You needed to select a group and I chose a group that I knew and hung out with. The unfortunate part of this though was all of us were complete starters like we almost never touched the instruments before. We had a limited amount of guitars and etc. so we needed to do turns which is the unfortunate part of this entire thing was the teacher played favorites for helping and turns to practice so some groups got a few turns, some of us got a whole few dozen of turns and some of us got 1 turn to practice in an entire month. Good Ending: We got it done but it was a huge struggle. Band Ending: I set an application back in grade 6 and I am now playing the clarinet and I am loving band because we don't need to play different instruments all year long :D.
Hi Andy. Prince?! When you look at lists of 3 or 4 chord songs for beginners, Prince is suspiciously absent. But several of his songs, if transposed, can be strummed using simple chords. Examples: I feel for you (A E D), When you were mine (D A G), Purple Rain (G Em D C), Starfish and coffee (D Em A). Are there other Prince songs you could recommend? Would that maybe be a fun theme for a future video?
Thanks Anthony, glad you like this series! Shame they didnt take off with the views, I should have got a better singer in I guess! All the best anyway 🎸
Andy Guitar It surprises me a bit. When you released the series I tought that you filled in a gap that so many guitarists are struggling with. Always learning bits of pieces of songs and never learning a real proper playtrough. I tought they would be a great succes. For what its worth i enjoy them and learned 2 songs. I go back and forth between these songs and your rock ryrhm course. By the way the open G track really rocks. Keep up the good work
Hey Andy. Thanks to you and all the Andy Band Members for creating this excellent series. One question is for the drum tutorials from Thom. Is he a little behind on the full drum tutorials/lessons ? I did not see the full song lessons for drums for all that you have completed yet. Thanks and hope to hear back. Keep up the great work.
Did you know that Jimmy Page played rhythm guitar according to Shel Talmy and Bobby Graham played Drums on this song?Dave plays the solo on this song (Not Jimmy Page) according to Shel Talmy and Ray Davies.

My great uncle was in The Kinks. Amazing band and an iconic song. Thanks, Andy!
I used to hang out with Dave's son Russell in Hampstead once apon a time. He was a good drummer. Music is in the blood.

17 1/2 minutes for what you think would be an easy lesson. Great instruction! Thanks.

Wow! Great cover version - you guys rock!
Great one! And always well taught! Thank you!! 💕🎶🎸
Switching frets from 1-3, 3-5 etc is SO difficult for me!! (I'm a beginner). I'm going to try the pivot method though, that's helpful! Thank you!
I was in third grade when this came out, heard a thousand times and still love it Van Halen ok but I only listen to The Kinks version.
You made that your own. Exellent.
Another great video.✌✌✌
Thank you !! Good teacher !!
