    As a 3rd grade kid in church where Polish priests gave sermons in Polish, it was a battle to keep composure when they said the word "be" in Polish.

    When my husband, Clay, & I were in Poland, we needed some glue to fix something. At the store, when asking for glue, the salesman said the Polish word for this was "klej". (pronounced like my husband's name). And the Polish word for "clay" is "glina".

    My maiden name is "Lotka" and a Polish girl in a store told me it meant the birdie in the game badminton. I thought she was going to tell me I was descended from Polish royalty, but no...badminton 😅

    Love this! My parents never taught us children the language. They only spoke it amongst themselves, so the children didn't know what they were saying. I have been trying to learn Polish but find it challenging. You just brought a little laughter into my day!

    Adidas is used as a slang word in my wife’s native language, which is Tagalog or Filipino. It also has a funny meaning….chicken feet!

    NO in Polish is a word that is used for emphasis. It doesn't have an English equivalent.

    • @PolishFoodies
      @PolishFoodies  Рік тому +1

      In some cases it can be used for emphasis. Examples: "NO tak" (double yes) , "NO nie" (double no).
      But it is also used as a standalone word "NO" - in that case it means "yes"
