I managed to find a rom of the fixed boy version where you can marry the witch princess and put it on my r4 card. Then I no-lifed the game to meet all parameters to marry her and fucking did it to avenge child me who could never do it 😭 the worst part mentally was letting my animals die but the most strenuous was giving her 10,000 gifts. It was well worth it though.
You CAN marry them but it’s called “best friends” lol but they live in your home just like your wife. But you don’t get a kid. But I doubt Rinqueen wants to play that far lol.

So in Japan there was a "best friends" system where you could essentially marry the 4 special bachelorettes (goddess, witch, Leia, and Keira) and while the ceremony aspect didn't carry over you could experience all of their romance events in this and even attend the starry night festival with them if you aren't married. On the flip side people have made romhacks that just replace the player character in harvest moon ds with the girls from ds cute
@@asra-5180 there are romhacks for the GBA game Friends of Mineral Town and the DS game Sunshine Islands, they replace the character sprites and the pronouns of every dialogue with the right one depending on what game/character you choose, just search "Harvest Moon True Love" Only problem is that the Sunshine Island hack isn't finished and might have some errors
It's so awesome to see others who had Skye as part of their growing up too. I had a crush on him, had him as an imaginary friend, drew pictures, wrote stories, and could daydream for hours. Through a long series of events, he is even legitimately the reason I went to medical school and now have an MD (through sparking an initial interest in paralysis, which then sparked an interest in neurology, diseases, and pharmacology of the nervous system).

Its a shame they didn't add all those extra characters (IE: Skye, the mermiad, the harvest goddess, etc) to the remake of AWL on the Switch. I would have done anything to marry Skye too lol.

The harvest moon games have genuinely always been my favourites. Stardew was like a gift from heaven after a lack of the way I loved them for so long. Thinking back after watching this video, it's quite funny how to make your pets love you more you pick them up above your head and launch them across the room lmao

DS, DS Cute and Skye were a big part of my childhood and this video was an absolute joy to watch. Congrats on doing what I literally cheated to do because I had not the patience to grind the sprites out twice, but I did have an Action Replay 🤣

im only five minutes in but oh my GOD this video is making me so happy !! hmds cute was my childhood, I was only four when it came out but after seeing a family friend playing it I begged my parents for a ds. I was OBSESSED with this game and it helped me learn to read :,) I wasn't even old enough to grasp any of the game mechanics but I still loved it. I played in on and off throughout the rest of my childhood but only managed to successfully get married once - to gray from mineral town through the gba connection feature when I was 13 - and it was INFURIATING. last year I found a copy of the regular hmds and quit after getting leia to a red heart and realizing I still had like 20 sprites left to go. Im so glad to see a video about this game though, I rarely see it talked about so thank u for absolutely making my day !! side note - does anyone else really wish they'd have added the hmds characters like skye, leia, keira, etc into the switch remake of a wonderful life?? :( it would've been super cool to see it treated as a crossover of the two games considering they both take place in the forget me not valley !

i thoroughly enjoyed this video.. this was my favorite game growing up, i have so much passion for this one. SO many years of this game, multiple cartriges because they kept breaking, and many trips to fogu and writing down lists of sprites i needed. couple years ago i finally married skye & got the 60 sprites and it was just as fulfilling beating something that was impossible as a child. i loved seeing someone else do it too, its also so cool to see a group of people who experienced the same excitement :) thanks for this video it was a hilarious journey

Seems like they put more work into the female characters that can be married as a male character. Like the female main character was an after thought since people complained so much so they just tossed in marriage to the side npcs, cause they didnt wanna bother making new characters . I mean i see why since the games originally were aimed at straight male players anyways, sigh. Skye is like Dark from the DNAngel anime . A Thief and warns people before theiving lol.
I almost forgot about that anime. That also reminds me of this one tv show in Friends of Mineral Town with a similar idea, a thief warning their victims ahead of time.

First thing I ever printed in my life was a guide for the sprites in hopes to collect them all and marry the goddess 😭 but we all know too well how hard like 30 of them are so it ended with Muffy every time 🫠 in HM cute Skye was my only choice too tho. anyway, really happy to have found this video and relate so hard to the playing style (and struggles). The harvest moon games have genuinely always been my favourites. Stardew was like a gift from heaven after a lack of the way I loved them for so long.

The timing of this video is actually so perfect, I was gushing about Skye to my friends who had never played DS Cute just the other day and have been wanting to replay the game so I can actually see what being married to him is like (similarly, I crushed on him at like age 9 and didn’t have enough harvest sprites despite getting several years into the game) lmao my friends have also since called me out on him being a formative crush for my type 😅 I can’t help that mysterious and morally grey fictional characters are so attractive. Ngl I was surprised with how easy it was to get married in Stardew Valley (so much so that you can speedrun it) because I was used to how long it took in certain Harvest Moon games to get ONE CHARACTER to like me, much less marry me. The games with rival systems especially tested my patience. Truly demented games (i still love them dearly)

I usually ignore long videos because my attention span can't handle anything more than half an hour from anyone I don't know, typically. But bloody heck am I glad I clicked this. DS, DS Cute and Skye were a big part of my childhood and this video was an absolute joy to watch. I laughed, I squealed (I'm still so giddy that I had to retype that 5 times) and your humour and excitement was just so enthralling.
Congrats on doing what I literally cheated to do because I had not the patience to grind the sprites out twice, but I did have an Action Replay 🤣

im only five minutes in but oh my GOD this video is making me so happy !! hmds cute was my childhood, I was only four when it came out but after seeing a family friend playing it I begged my parents for a ds. I was OBSESSED with this game and it helped me learn to read :,) I wasn't even old enough to grasp any of the game mechanics but I still loved it. I played in on and off throughout the rest of my childhood but only managed to successfully get married once - to gray from mineral town through the gba connection feature when I was 13 - and it was INFURIATING. last year I found a copy of the regular hmds and quit after getting leia to a red heart and realizing I still had like 20 sprites left to go. Im so glad to see a video about this game though, I rarely see it talked about so thank u for absolutely making my day !!
side note - does anyone else really wish they'd have added the hmds characters like skye, leia, keira, etc into the switch remake of a wonderful life?? :( it would've been super cool to see it treated as a crossover of the two games considering they both take place in the forget me not valley !

I literally just started playing this game again, its so good and your commentary and editing are just chefs kiss perfect. Also, if you really want to marry the girls, you should get harvest moon DS (without the cute). Its the one i always had and you play a guy and can only marry the girls

i thoroughly enjoyed this video.. this was my favorite game growing up, i have so much passion for this one. SO many years of this game, multiple cartriges because they kept breaking, and many trips to fogu and writing down lists of sprites i needed. couple years ago i finally married skye & got the 60 sprites and it was just as fulfilling beating something that was impossible as a child. i loved seeing someone else do it too, its also so cool to see a group of people who experienced the same excitement :) thanks for this video it was a hilarious journey

i must have watched this video about a dozen times at this point and i still cannot get over how funny it is. this is peak entertainment. impossibly, it is better than me spending literal years of my life refusing to learn the actual game mechanics when i was 8 and just picking weeds for hours and hours and wondering why it was taking so long to progress…
Seems like they put more work into the female characters that can be married as a male character. Like the female main character was an after thought since people complained so much so they just tossed in marriage to the side npcs, cause they didnt wanna bother making new characters . I mean i see why since the games originally were aimed at straight male players anyways, sigh. Skye is like Dark from the DNAngel anime . A Thief and warns people before theiving lol.
I almost forgot about that anime.
That also reminds me of this one tv show in Friends of Mineral Town with a similar idea, a thief warning their victims ahead of time.
