Have made this recipe twice till now, ( just added a tsp of sugar to balance out the spice) and it's on my regular cook recipies now. Really subtle flavours. Thank you!
Just made it for lunch. I used barracuda on the bone and skin. I didn’t have curry leaves so I used both bay and lemon leaves. I didn’t have fresh green chilies so I used red chilies preserved in oil, I made myself. Served with basmati rice. Lovely. Thank you!
Garam masala is not for this dish. Curry leaves provide lemon favor and vinegar adds acidity. Lemon zest is too much. Keep it simple and minimize ingredients to maximize flavors.
Was not a big fish fan but I have to say this was fabulous when I cooked it this evening. Really great! I added some slices of par-boiled potato and used monkfish tail and thick cod fillets. The cod only needs 4-5 mins max, Monkfish a bit longer. Squeeze of lime goes well with the coconut gravy. I took the skin off the cod and dry-fried it with salt - pressed flat with a spatula till it was thin and crispy, then crumble it up over the top of the curry before serving with a generous handful of chopped coriander. Sensational :)
Wow so nice of you , how beautifully you described how you cooked the fish, you're right fish need gentle hand its takes maximum 5 to 6 minutes!! Thank you so much!
I had difficulty watching this video because I spent so much time cleaning the screen on my computer from my dribbling my saliva on it! It looks so delicious! Must cook it soon
My fave dish...when my masala is almost caramelized i always pre-fry the fish in it just to achieve that brownish appetizing colour and also to pick up the flavours of the masala then scoop it up again. In dishes requiring water I always use vegstock...which I did for this! Lovely... I sooo love any coconut based dish!
Yes, coconut based curries balance the spiciness of chillies and other hot ingredients like pepper. Coconut is not used in most of India for cooking except on the southern west coast. The veg stock was a nice touch.
Don't eat a lot of fish but now I'm in the Hebrides I'm trying to widen my horizons, I must say this dish caught me by surprise, definitely going to cook this again when guests visit.
Thanks. I tried it, with a twist or two of my own. I pureed the tomato 🍅 and added some coriander powder to the masala. The result was as good as the picture
I tried out this recipe with Mahi mahi fish. It turned out fantastic! there is a wonderful nutty flavour to the gravy. And its really simple to make. Thank you so much!
i made this with chicken and added more of some of the ingredients. some of my family members who are not fond of cumin couldnt help but get second servings. thank you so much.
I just did this recipe, and it came out wonderful. I didn't let it sit for 15-30 mins at the end, because the fish would have been overcooked to my taste, and used some mild chili so my child would also appreciate it. I highly recommend trying it! Thank you for the recipe.
I’ve just finished eating this for my tea (or dinner if you’re posh) I made it with cod fillets and added a quartered tomato at the end, it was so tasty 😋 thank you for a great recipe.
@@SpiceEats Had it yesterday for lunch with steaming hot rice. It was utter nirvana for my taste buds. We used Basa fillets. Thanks a heap for this wonderful recipe!
I had to comment.. I felt so guilty for not commenting on the video after making 4 times already and all of my friends loved this recipe. So simple yet so delicious.. thank u so much for this lovely recipe..
I have just made this curry and it was beautiful if I do say so myself! It was light, so tasty and fresh. This is my first ever comment on UA-cam so it must have been good! Thanks
Oh my….this was delicious! I used Rockfish and I even had to substitute coconut cream for coconut milk and I had no curry leaves so I used green onion stems. And instead of water I used chicken stock since I needed to thin the coconut cream…..it was STILL delicious!
I just cooked this today. I found that I preferred to add fish sauce instead of salt and vinegar, to bring a fermented shrimp-y taste to the soup. Also used Jaffna chili powder in place of only turmeric and red chili powder. (The Jaffna chili powder blend has turmeric and chili powder, too.) Kind of halfway between India, Sri Lanka and Thailand. Will make this again!
I cooked this twice and my family all loved it so much. I don't know how to express my appreciation to you. thank you so much for all your wonderful recipes
@@adenikitchen.7923 I don't know about use of coconut juice in fish curry , you are not fry the fish rather use it directly , lastly devotion in work and presentation skills with words are also important . Allah Hafiz .

I made this with cod fish, and sprinkled garam masala on top with lemon when it was done. Totally obsessed with this recipe!

Are you from India? Where does one get Cod fish in India?

Thank you so much!
In Kerala, we use fenugreek seeds instead of cumin and use lemon juice instead of vinegar and tarnish with coriander leaves. Yummy!
