In today's video I tour a local book shop in Boscombe, near Bournemouth, with none other than dealer extraordinaire, Dorset Bob. I take a tour of Bob's warehouse and manage to find some SF goodies (no surprise there), the we head off to the bookshop. At the end you'll see what I managed to find.

I used to go to The Crooked Book all the time when I lived in Bournemouth and I LOVED IT! Such a lovely little place, I wish more bookshop cafes existed

Jules . That was great i Could spend a whole day and more there . Super good stuff . And there is a coffee shop .( yes i know coffee can be hard on books, but i promise not to sip and read with out due care 😉)
And the camara images was way clear . Strange you never flew down the Lady Bird Book collecting rabbit hole . Phase lV was a good movie , ants rule 😂 .Nice haul .

Great video Jules, and in super quality too, a lovely watch indeed. I keep meaning to email Dorset Bob about visiting his "warehouse" after a great chat with him at the recent pulp fair. I think I could spend a week going through all his stock!!! Take care Jules, Jason.

I'm working my way through all the albums featured in that book. Reading about them, then playing them through Spotify. Not got to that one yet!

It's funny this should be recommended to me, viz the Picador collecting, because I've not long finished reading Nicholas Royle's 'White Spines', which is a humorous and detailed account of his obsessive collecting of Picadors. A fascinating book, if you have not read it.
Ah yes, I have read it twice. The follow up has recently been published with more Picador collecting stories 🙂

I think I saw in the footage from The Crooked Book what appeared to be a nice condition vintage PB of THE HOT ROCK by Donald Westlake. I was surprised you didn’t pick that one up?
You know, I didn't spot that Glen, I may well have picked it up. No worries, next time 🙂
@@JulesBurt It was lying on top of other books on a shelf and looked to have no spine cracks or damage, at least from that angle. I myself haven't read any Westlake yet, but I hear he's fantastic.
are all of his vintage inventory he got when they came out from the publishers or were these bought from other sellers? most of his old books look like it came from the printers.
He has been dealing in SF for about 4 decades so some of this was definitely bought from new and carefully stored. However, Bob has a real reputation for quality, fine condition books, which is what you see here. Lots of what I have bought from him is in unread condition.
