I have one that is a real tank- It was bought by my father 14 or so years ago when I was about 8- he never learned the disassembly process because he didn't want to deal with it (I gave him a bit of grief about that), and we shot maybe 2500 -3500 rounds through the gun over those 14 years and only the barrel was swabbed and the exposed parts of the action cleaned, and it rarely got hung up. I finally get it last year for good, and I took it apart after learning how and the thing was just caked. Like huge films of gunpowder on everything probably up to 3-4 millimeters thick, it was crazy that the bolt could to be brought back to the rear. Now it's always kept nice and it works amazing!
That's awesome, I'm gonna have to break this one down one of these days. I wont lie though as long as its functioning I probably wont touch it lol. Thanks for watching!
@@TheHide I bought a riding mower a few yrs back and this man and women were selling everything they own, there home, everything, and were gonna spend their retirement traveling the country in a very nice motor home. Anyway, the man gave me a brand new Mossberg 702 plinkster, in a brand new soft case. I was like hell yeah I'll take it lol. I've had it a few yrs, but my son just turned 6 and I been teaching him how to shoot it. I'm wanting to get more magazines for it. You said the 25 round magazines are junk. I have several questions and I'm wondering if you might have some answers for me, if you don't mind. Did you mean the 715t magazines are junk? And do you know if the 715t magazines will fit in the 702? I'm trying to find out what is interchangeable and what is reliable. Any help you could give me would be appreciated. Thanks.
Gun Guy I agree these are a ton of fun and super cheap to get into. Hard to turn one down, thanks for watching and feel freebto subscribe if you haven't already!
I have a Rossi RS22 which is the same rifle, same parts etc. Made by the same manufacturer. I prefer the Rossi because of the Monte Carlo cheek rest on the stock.
I have the Rossi, which is the basically the same thing. I’m up to $650 in mine. Suppressor $400 ( with tax stamp) Scope $100, rings $10 It really groups great with CCI Standard and even better with ELEY or Norma Tac22. They’re around $130 now for the threaded version, from my perspective a steal for what it does.
have the 21" stainless very accurate with quality ammo. only issue I found is rings vibrate off back of dovetail after as few as 50rounds. tap an install rail next.
that was surprisingly good! I see those a lot at pawn shops with scopes for around 100 bucks like u said. I may have to try one. you have superior shooting form\ skill.
For what they cost you wont be disappointed, its just a fun little rifle to shoot. Just remember to use the factory 10rd mags and you'll be good to go and thanks I appreciate that!
I P S that's awesome. I threw the one I had in the garbage it wouldn't feed but 4 or 5 then a jam. I got tired of it quick.. Got one of the 10 rounders an haven't looked back. Thanks for watching.
There is a feeding issue with this rifle, basically, because of its low manufacturing cost. I had one and noticed a lot of the problems others complain about. I found that when you chamber one round, then either fire it or retract the bolt to manually feed the next round without firing the rifle, the subsequent round, when examined, would show some shearing off of the lead bullet. When it would feed into the chamber, the bullet would rub on the bottom lip of the chamber, losing 4 or 5 grains of lead. To those who still own them, I would say try it and see for yourself. That is a major problem for a semi rimfire; I sold it. I hear some good things about the 715T because of a decent feed ramp, though. But again, not without some issues.
Yea that stinks, I must have just got a good one. Since I ditched that 25rd mag it came with for one of the steel 10rd mags mine has been 100%. I guess you cant have everything though, Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the great review. I have been considering mounting a cheap rim fire scope for fun on my wood grained 702 and after watching this I am going to start looking for one tomorrow. Just out of curiosity did that muzzle come with it? Would also like to know where you got your bench rests. Thanks in advance for the response.
Hey hows it going. Yeah that model did come with a threaded barrel and had the flash hider from the factory. I use the Caldwell Rock Jr bench rest, take a look on Midway USA is where i ordered this one many years ago. Thanks for watching!!
Very interesting, I've had very good luck with the automatch out of this rifle. I will say though I've had a few failures to feed in my 10/22.. Kinda weird.... Just goes to show every rifle is different I guess... thanks for watching!

Good video , I know my 702 has been really reliable very accurate shooting gun had no problems with it, gun is now over 10 years old still a grate .22 .... as for the other guy pick you up a set of ear muffs bud get you some electronic ones they work good if you're not already deaf by now !

I've had this rifle for 4 years and no the 25 round magazine isn't that bad. It's types of ammo you use. When I shoot cci it jams almost Everytime but very rarely do I ever have problems with firing Remington thunderbolt.
As far as hunting goes, they suck. I had a lot of trouble putting down that bull moose and don't even get me started about that big male grizzly. :-) Actually, they will do as well or better than any other .22 rifle for appropriate game. Good luck with your hunt.
Mossberg needs to get their crap together and fix the stupid 25 round magazines, was super exited to get one and ever since I've used it my gun has jammed, can't even finish a whole mag with it, they should honestly recall them and make new and better ones
Ultra2k I totally agree, the one that cane with my gun was completely worthless. I just threw it in the garbage. ever since I switched to the factory 10rd mags its been 100%. Thanks for watching!
A lot of people give it a bad wrap, but I honestly cant say anything bad about it. It just keep on ticking. I still have this rifle and shoot it regularly. Thanks for watching!
As of 3-28-2020, mine proved to be junk. After 600 rounds, cleaning it every 200 as recommended, the safety is stuck on fire but the gun won't cock and won't fire but when you pay a junk price you get junk!
No, its a rifle you really don't want to take a part. Even the manufacture doesn't recommend it. As it can be a bear to put back together. What I do with mine is every so often Ill take a can of Remoil or something like that and just spray out the action of the rifle and let it dry to get all the gunk out of it. Then spray a light coat of lubricant on the action parts, so far thats worked very well as I haven't had any issues with the rifle yet. Hope this helps, Thanks for watching and feel free to subscribe if you haven't already!
The Hide I have found that it is not that difficult to take apart. All you need to do is take the two screws holding it to the stock out. Then there's a pin or two (can't remember) to take the trigger assembly out like any other gun. There's the trigger assembly that comes out, the "slide" , and a block that's behind it.. that's the furthest I've gone maybe you can go further.
25 round mag is not bad except it's making this rifle ugly :) You need to deassemble the magazine and cut some polimer that stops feeder. I did that and now loading 20 rounds is no problem loading max 23 rounds. I can send some photos witch parts needs to be fixed.
Hello, I'm fairly new to guns, specially rifles and my first language is Spanish so I didn't get all that you said. Can you explain which parts do you keep lubed on the rifle?
