I have a Rossi Rs22, and a Mossberg 702. I have never had any problems with the Rossi, I bought it new for $120 5 years ago, the 702 I just picked up a week ago for $50. The original owner had it for 7 years, after the 3rd time shooting it, he decided to take it apart and clean it, He couldn't figure how to put the trigger assembly back together, so he put it all back in the box and set it in his closet 6 years later. He decided to just to get rid of it, I took it home cleaned it up and reassembled the trigger assembly about half hour later I had a M-Carbo trigger kit installed and have been shooting the crap out of it. Great 22's for the money. Zero regrets buying them.
We got one & we enjoy using it a lot. FYI the so-called follower on your 25rd magazine is for you to take pressure "OFF" the spring with one hand while you're loading it with the other hand.
I bought a used 702 stainless steel edition; I think it's from around 2017. I've had problems with it cycling some ammo like the Federal auto-match. Also there have been times when I didn't have to charge it, all I did was shove the magazine inside and it was ready to shoot. I repeat, I didn't have to charge it. I also have 2 Rossi RS22s (one is threaded) which I purchased within the last 6 months. With those 2 you can run CCIs all day without any failures.
I've had the special edition Talo version with the muzzle brake threaded barrel and no sights with a 25 round mag and I've never had a failure yet. I love it , especially for the price
I was eyeballing the savage 64 as my first firearm but the Mossberg seems like the better buy. About a pound lighter, 3” shorter barrel, fibre optic sights and an extended mag that holds 5 extra compared to the savages extended mag
Still waiting on the permit ( bloody Canadian gun laws) but if I were to go 22 I think I’d go Mossberg/Rossi over the savage for myself. Granted I’m also on the fence about picking up a Maverick 88 12 gauge as my first… the waiting is the hardest part.
@@ghostwriter1440 The savage 64 with stainless barrel is nice only 10 rounds though legend says there’s a 20-25 mag available the rossi works. Mossberg 715T is a jamathon in my experience

Ok that makes me feel stupid that I never figured that out. Lol
Only failures I have are when I used lead tip ammo. Use that smooth copper keep it oiled and it’s perfectly fine. My very first long gun.
Love Mine, Yes U Must Clean it ,, Like any New Gun, Mine Never jammms , I Paid $ 105.00 US. Great Rifle.
