Last week one of my chickens fell in the gap between my barn wall and their coop wall. As I went to address the situation, this song started playing in my head. 8 years later, Pelican is still legit. Good news- she wasn’t dead, she was just stuck. Like this song, in my head, for the past week straight. It has been a delicious nightmare for me.
I know every word to this song. Such incredible attunement to reality, when your instruments sounds paint so precise on the canvas that the words that emanate create themselves...and fit so well! A telling story for all the world to hear, no doubt about it.
No idea how this has only 100,000 views - brilliant song and matching video, creatively miles better than the billions of views elsewhere...much love xx come to NZ
This is my go-to track for when I need my brain melted. I don't believe Pelican have ever settled for perfection, but this is an example of a perfect track. I keep coming back to this video because the clip is a glorious match to the music and for my introductory understanding for what Pelican are. Though there have been some wonderful vocals put to Pelican music, I love the ability for the music to stand alone. Two years ago I first commented on this video. One year ago I came back and commented again. I'm willing to bet you'll see a new comment from me next year. Hopefully it'll be in relation to an Australian tour.
I can't like this video enough. I found Pelican via Pandora and was hooked from early on to my listening. 'Chunky' guitar sounds and a rocking tempo... even the band name 'Pelican' sounded metal. But the vocals weren't distracting... because there weren't any. It was all about he music! I'm a convert. Pelican are phenomenal. They rock hard as.. They fill a hole in my need for metal without making a compromise with some shitty vocal track. Now, when I say 'Pelican'... there's a little growl in my voice. Not too much... but just enough to warn folks they'll cop an aural punch to the brain. Fkn' love this band!
Jeroen Verbeeck Hey! I saw this comment a few weeks ago, I keep finding great music from just a handful of your suggestions. earthless, Russian circles, stoned Jesus...dude. fucking amazed.
Gemeni is awesome as well. Dead roots stirring and Lore are just two incredibly great albums, I love them! Weirds owls are amazing too! There are too many great stoner/psych bands.. I discovered the genre many years ago and every day I still find amazing bands. Check out Bong druid of mammoth weed mountain, stoned meadow of doom, mrstonebeliever and 666mrdoom. They're channels that upload this stuff daily!! :)
Just found out about you on a comment about tunings, there's a tuning called pelican tuning, someone thought that you used that, another person mentioned that you played in B standard, as I do, so here I am
It's funny. The first part of this song is a little boring for me, but from the breakdown at 2:30 to the very end is pure bliss. I just love the key change and the part where the heavy sludge hammer distortion kicks in full force at 3:30. Anyone else feel this way?
Ok...i will search it...but why do you think its a stupid question...remember that there are no "stupid " questions. Im trying to enlighten myself about these awesome musicians and I feel lyrics that match the deep emotional and melodic grunting riffs would draw you in more...thats all...
Very interesting. It feels like trance-metal. I wonder if any of them is mainly doing this for the girls. Probably more fun when live, but while sober and not on any form of drug etc, I'm hearing medium-level sound quality, and a lot repetitive patterns experimenting with creating musical tension. It was created for a certain live concert vibe, I imagine; where when they were younger the reward was #1, as many girls as they had time for wherever they performed and #2 people actually resonating with their harmonic experiments and patterns that they then found song names for.
eh.... that melodic middle part of the song is just Sooo frikin awesome and gives off this otherworldy, almost surreal feeling imo. Too bad the rest of the song is nowhere near as engaging as that part...
the vocals were on point!
The vocals were the best part of the track... allowed it to breathe!
+drewcifur78 Ay, qué tontarrón...😂
You stole my thunder ⚡️🌩️⚡️
When he said ".........................................................." I felt that.
Cheah!! 🌛🌜🤟🏻
that ending is perfect

Do you even Kyuss?
@@shaneadams6463 a generator
Lol. That would be cool. But yeah they were just filming. Not picking up any audio.
Having been a camera operator on many desert music vids, I can assure you that it isn't fun.

NotHis RealName heard them on Pandora today and now I'm hooked
Loved it!
This video is so awesome I'm listening this band a long time ago 😜👌
That riff at 2:07 hits hard in all the right spots.
I want to be dissolved in the last minutes of this track. the wall of sound, like a tsunami, overcomes my senses and takes hold.
Are you familiar with Cult of Luna? They do that too. Ghost Trails will pulverize you into pudding.
I've heard a little of Cult of Luna and I don't mind it. Really getting into If These Trees Could Talk right now.
That transition at 1:21!! Bliss!!!! Love this fucking song!
Great. :)
Thank you, guys! Your music is really great.
good shit guys, wow
I finally found the musical style that was looking to start a band
then also checkout ISIS, Russian circles, cult of luna, rosetta, amenra, suma, ....
Jeroen Verbeeck Hey! I saw this comment a few weeks ago, I keep finding great music from just a handful of your suggestions. earthless, Russian circles, stoned Jesus...dude. fucking amazed.

I love how they write heavy ass riffs but play them with a light crunch tone lol
this clip is so stoner! Could've been a Kyuss one :)

+David Frantz I'd pay ridiculous money for some Garcia-Pelican colab...
Heavier than Sabbath!
There's a King Crimson ('73-74) feel to this and a few other Pelican tracks.
It's the way they medley and there's lots to listen to at once, repeat!!!!!
