This man had so much range. He was excellent in comedic roles and nailed drama as well. One of my favorite actors and I'm still sad we lost him so early.
Man PSH was one of my all time favorites. I also love that in mostly all talk shows and interviews he was just normal, not awkward, not like some of the other actors who’d do similar serious roles and be almost in character in interviews, very somber. This guy could go in and out and just ACT
I love watching Philip and Dave having such a good time laughing and telling stories! I’ve always admired Philip’s acting, and now I really appreciate what a wonderful sense of humor and genuine personality he had. I wish he could have stayed with us a lot longer. 💜💜💜
Mission Impossible 3 is favorite movie for Philip S.H to perform as the war criminal and he'd nailed that role spectaculary and it was a loss when he passed. Wish he'd joined more movies if he was still alive.
Addiction is a hell of a thing. 20 plus years of being clean, you can't let yourself think for one second that you have it licked. Open the door even one inch... "Meh, I can have a half a glass of wine..." Months later you're back on the smack, dead on your bathroom floor with a needle in your arm. So very sad. What a talent he was. Addiction is a hell of a thing.
@@maryk3458 I don't think so. After so many years clean most people don't have a structure anymore like 12 step or things like that. They have structure in their lives, but it has nothing to do with addiction, because once clean for as long as he was, very few people think a whole lot about it anymore. It's not exhausting, but it's risky to be so confident like that how most are after having so much clean time. You don't have that support, and relapses can happen a lot easier if things go in a certain bad direction, and that's clearly what happened to Phil. It would have been good if he had at least one person in recovery he could have talked to, or someone could have fell back on if things went wrong. You don't even need someone in recovery necessarily, you just need someone who understands addiction who is very kind, loving, and supportive to you.
There are good actors and great actors, and then there are actors that leave a lasting impression on you just standing in a corner in the background looking miserable (Moneyball). Dude was wicked good.
Dave us just the best isn’t he? Some talk show hosts are great interviewers, but aren’t necessarily funny. Some are funny, but don’t have the depth that Dave has. Letterman is just the king.
Hoffman: 'Dave.....do you have a wife, or girlfriend? Dave: 'Uh.....well?.......huh?..... ... Hoffman: '"Cause i'm going to find her, and i'm going to hurt her'.
PSH mentioned on every talk show at the time about this “pact” of barking his Oscar speech. That’s why he won… & then he didn’t follow-through with his promo. It was a bit of a cheat.

Genius actor, who will forever be missed. Absolutely great in whatever he did
It's still hard sometimes for me to believe he's gone. Such a hugely talented, but also very humble and charming individual.
Huge? Fat shaming? LOL
Ah he seems like such a cool down-to-earth guy, love how Dave cracks him up. RIP
Such a great actor!
No actor has ever made me feel the range of emotions I've felt watching Philip Seymour Hoffman films.

RIP Philip Seymour Hoffman (July 23, 1967 - February 2, 2014), aged 46
You will be remembered as a legend.

Such an incredible actor! So sad he died so young! Played Truman 💯! Nailed him!
He comes across a lovely man

Such an excellent actor.
He's hilarious 😂
How could this exuberant, hilarious genius take all that he was away from us. Just heartsick that he’s gone..!
I love these letterman clips. Now conan's gone theres not much left
He was the Master
R.I.P. P.S.H. ✌️

I got the feeling that Phil was dry but not in a 12 step or therapy. That must be exhausting without structure.

People confident in their craft and comfortable in their own skin are often a pleasure to mingle with.. Fun and easy. RIP, man.
I miss him so much. He was a special talent.
I miss him ✝️♥️
I don’t care much for celebrity culture, but PSH was a massive loss. Love him in Magnolia and the Talented Ripley.
And Flawless and Doubt and so many others... agreed Gone too Soon

Philip was a truly tremendous actor. Such a terrible loss for cinema.
"She's the best"
WoW
Didn't know Fallon stole his tagline from Letterman!
LOL

Steven Schub mentioned!
You guys spelled "Philip" wrong.
Actually they didn't. You're wrong about that, look up his name.
Not unless they spelled it wrong originally and then changed it, which is something I wouldn't know. Then you would be right, which is possible too.
I'd trade the final 8 years of my life for the 8 years of PSH performances we've missed since his death
Wow, now that's saying something, but i'm not sure that's true. Phil was amazing nonetheless, so I understand your sentiment.
Hoffman: 'Dave.....do you have a wife, or girlfriend? Dave: 'Uh.....well?.......huh?..... ... Hoffman: '"Cause i'm going to find her, and i'm going to hurt her'.
We'll be right back with The Teutuls.

Just say NO Phil.
Well, he won and he didn’t bark his acceptance speech, too bad, that would have been funny.
ISFJ with developed Fe and Ne
Damn heroin.😞
Philip, with one L.
How do these fine artists put up with these insufferable bullsh$t interviewers?
