To answer the question of "why do we call it soccer", it's because full name of the sport is "Association Football", later shortened to assoc, which then became soccer.
@@thatgirlwearingglasses It is true. Oxford University coined the term as a college slang term for Association Football back in 1800s. They also referred to rugby as rugger.
Simone you’re so spot on about the show’s portrayal of Ted’s kindness. It’s so easy to equate kindness and compassion basically no matter what as a lack of intelligence, I think it’s because we consider it childlike in some form. But Ted’s kindness isn’t from a place of ignorance, it’s a deliberate choice he’s made and it’s part of what makes this show so incredibly powerful.
The first two episodes of this show were pretty good, but episode 3 is where I realized this show was very special. I absolutely love the whole thing with Trent Crimm
The Ted/Michelle split was fantastic. Sometimes things just don't work, and it doesn't mean either party is a bad person. Salute to Ted for loving Michelle enough to not only let her go, but for consciously losing her so that she can be happy.
"Let's get out there and show Crystal Palace whose house this is!" is an especially funny line, because they used the actual Crystal Palace home stadium as the home stadium of AFC Richmond.
I said "yay" as soon as I saw this drop. I LOVE this show, it's like concentrated happiness and motivation. So warm and full of heart when it has no business being this good.
24:32 Through this entire show Roy Kent remains my favorite character. But it does get close later on, because so many characters go through such amazing transformations over the 3 seasons. But just wait until Danny Rojas shows up. He is just pure sunshine.
George, thank you for being transparent about Hannah Waddingham's alarmingly smoking hot presence in this show. Too many guys think it's objectifying to point that out. But it's part of Rebecca's character. She's an impossibly attractive woman who thinks she isn't anymore just because of her ex.
I actually wasn't attracted to her until she wasn't the "bad guy" anymore. She did such a good job she made me hate her. Then she did a great job of making love her. Then it was like a veil was lifted and she was suddenly hot.
It's too bad the writers of the live action Cowboy Bebop didn't get the point of Faye Valentine. They completely changed the character because the original was "sexist." The sex appeal was apart of the character, using it to her advantage. She tricked idiots
Thanks for watching this! To me the whole show is a masterpiece. Witch such an humanistic view on all our flaws and strengths. You will love all of it.
@@reverance_pavane Noooooo! They even released an official recipe for Ted's biscuits. I assumed they were delicious and the actual ones from the recipe 😵💫🤯😭
As much as I love this show, I loved even more learning that the two women who play Rebecca and Keely have become best friends after making the show. That makes me really happy.
Such a hilarious and heart-warming show. Pretty sure this will go down in Television History as one of the greats, despite its relatively short run. I don't think I've ever laughed through tears as much as when watching this masterpiece.
So glad you guys are finally watching this! Seems like it’s just getting popular now since the series final came out. One of the best pieces of tv probably in history. Capable of breaking your heart and healing it at the same time. And a show that I truly cherish and never ever gets old no matter how many times I’ve seen it
Thanks a million for putting this on UA-cam! This show came out during lockdown and was a really good way of getting through some bad times. Like a nice warm hug.
I think about the joke "I'm a visual learner so that's very helpful, thank you" at random points and just absolutely lose my shit. This show is brilliant whether it's in its lighter moments or its soul-crushingly heavier ones.
There's a book series I love called the Sword of Truth. I love it because the main character doesn't win every battle, but he wins every war by simply only ever doing what he knows is right
I am so happy that you guys are watching this. Please watch all of them. This is one of the best shows ever. When it just ended, I literally had tears. Because saying goodbye, knowing that there wasn’t going to be more of them, was so hard. This series is heartfelt. The series is funny. It’s everything in between. It’s amazing. I know you guys are gonna love it. I’ve literally never met one person has said anything negative about it. Not one.
Such an amazing series, can't wait to see the rest of your reactions to it. It has some really great character arcs that all pay off and stuff, nobody is stagnant in this show which is refreshing cause of how many times/shows characters never change.
They have the rest of season 1 already done, so that should be coming soon. They have not started season 2. This was a bit of a test with season 1. Editing for TV is very time consuming and hard to justify based on it not doing that well on UA-cam, according to George. If you know anyone you can urge to watch this, do so. The better this does, the better the chance that George can justify the time spent editing and take a chance on season 2 once they watch it. Other series as well, potentially.
I love this show so much!! Ted is one of the most unapologetically optimistic characters I've ever seen, and Simone, I really appreciate your comment about how they didn't make him dumb or dimwitted at the same time. So many fantastic characters on this show, and you will love how they wrap up Season One. Thanks for reacting to this amazing show! You two are awesome!! 😊
No matter how hard one tried, ya couldn't wish for a win-win scenario of the first two seasons getting released during a pandemic and turns out to be so bingable if not so comforting. It was so welcomed. Glad yer checking out this show AND wow, five episodes at once!
I’ve never watched the show until your guys reaction and now I’m absolutely hooked. It kind of surprised me to see how many ppl were absolutely obsessed with this show and sang praises but now I see why. I’ll definitely be watching and I’m glad y’all are getting into it too
One of the most thoughtful, funny, well-written shows I’ve ever seen. Thank you so much for reacting to it. There’s so much more to come that I hope the break before the next episode block isn’t too long!
I'm really glad you decided to put these up on UA-cam. It's an incredible show. I have no interest in sports at all, but I love this show. I got into it because of my son, and it's the last show my father really loved before he passed last June. It'll always have an even deeper meaning to me because of him.
"Deep South American", he's meant to be stereotypically American Midwestern not Southern. Jason Sudekis is from Kansas and is doing a caricature rural Midwestern accent.
The emotions in these shows. Seeing Simone's laugh and eyes watering in the third episode and George's laugh was great. Thank you!! ❤ from Alberta, LLAP
So glad to see you reacting to this show! Truly a treasure in modern tv! A show that can make you laugh and cry in the same scene multiple times each episode! Enjoy!
Thank you for a fun reaction to this amazing show. It's amazing to see a show where the lead character is kind but not stupid. It's also a fantastic show because it's hilarious but the relationships are actually realistic and heartfelt. Enjoy the rest of the episodes!
I think this show came out at the perfect time when a lot of shows are pretty dark and serious but it's just so great. Love all the characters. Rebecca doing her "Major League" plot was okay to start but it is great that Ted is just winning people over and thwarting her plans by just being himself. Great reactions and analysis! Great when a show can make you laugh so hard and then cry. Roy Kent is probably my favorite character of the series.
I watch the full versions on patreon. But very glad you're doing the UA-cam version as well. Easily top three show all time for me. I laugh and cry almost every episode amazing writing
The first thing I loved about this series is that it was mostly shot in Richmond upon Thames. In the late 1980's I use to work about 50 meters from Ted apartment. The pub they hang out in is actually there, although it has changed names over the years.. Unfortunately AFC Richmond never existed...
Love this show, Love this channel, Love this reaction. Perfect choice from these. Context from the word SOCCER - The word soccer comes from the term association football. We had normal just football then it was given the term association football which was rarely used and was just simplified to football how it was more commonly clalled anyway. But a few people called it Soccer. Fun fact AFC Richmond and Wrexham AFC stands for Association Football Club, but clubs today usually just use FC like Liverpool. The term football that americans use, comes from other forms of the main game. Other games inspired by the original were made. Galic football and Australian football. The english made a game called Rugby Football, it was a mix between football and rugby, pretty obvious. So if you want the correct terms the term Football for the game where you use your foot and a ball has been known by the world as football for many years before Rugby or even rugby football was thought of. Edit: As a brit whos always wanted to live in Canada, its canadians like this that make it seem so much better. like the best parts of britain and best parts of america with there own unique feel all mixed. And canadaians just all seem like Ted Lassos as George pointed out
0:54 Major League was a reasonably big baseball movie. Which is kind of funny because one of the initial plot strands of Ted Lasso is lifted straight from it, and they reference it again in the third season.
When you said "Is that Giles?!?" I smiled like crazy! There's a reason why this show absolutely cleaned up at the Emmy Awards for its first and second seasons. Once the strike is over, I expect the same thing to happen with this year's Emmys
The fact that you called out Scrubs (another Bill Lawrence show) is perfect - this show has that same perfect mix of humor and heart (and sometimes pathos). Also... "I don't wanna hate Anthony Stewart Head!" Oh, sweet summer child... just you wait.
I binged this during the pandemic, it was such a salve for the soul. It's fun watching you two expect the standard sitcom beats and being surprised when the show goes somewhere else. You'll find the second season is as strong, third season.....good. But there shouldn't be a fourth.
If I am remembering right, it was confirmed by multiple crew/cast that there won't be a fourth. Three was what they planned and finished with, but possible spinoffs have been mentioned for characters other than Ted himself.
Ted Lasso is AMAZING. Love seeing you guys react to the series. IMO the show just gets better each season. Super solid characters and well written. Tears of laughter and empathy.
The Ted Lasso character was made by Sedikides for an ad series NBC did for the Premier series season that around 2013. They were hilarious and I was so glad they made a series out of it.
This show is amazing, though I have to admit I havent watched season 3 yet because I dont want it to end lol. Its awesome getting to see people fall in love with this show, it is a warm blanket on a winters night type show, just what the heart needs sometimes.
This show is perfect to binge watch, because every little detail is deliberate, and everything connects to everything else. For example, don’t miss the meaning behind the title sequence.
It is one of the best montages and reactions I have seen from a season of a series divided into two videos, part one and part two. please season two soon ❤
1:32 “Soccer” is a shortened name for “Association Football”, then there is “American Football” as well as “Rugby Football”. All three games are essentially just variations of the same sport played in different places that eventually became varied enough that they are really their own sports now.
Never noticed the guidelines y’all had for this channel, love it! So, first concert and best concert. First Concert: Jimmy Eat World Best Concert: Roger Waters The first song was Comfortably Numb (my favorite Pink Floyd song) and I couldn’t stop sobbing. It was one of the most beautiful moments of my life.
First concert/best concert: The Who, in 2000. Five guys (the OGs plus Zak Starkey on drums and Rabbit Bundrick on keyboards) rocking the house for two hours, with an emphasis on their "Lifehouse" material (song that were chosen for or cut from the _Who's Next_ album). Also, the last tour they did while John Entwhistle was alive.
Love Ted Lasso - I live in Australia but I’m originally from where it is all filmed. How all the characters develop is amazing. They tackle some very important issues
One of the things that always gets me is when he talks about his wife talking him into bringing a suit. Like the head coach of any team at that level wouldn't need multiple suits.
First time watching; great reaction. One quick clarification, Jason’s accent is actually his real accent. His character is from Kansas just like he is. A bunch of the clothing, screen wallpapers and bbq sauce are Kansas City businesses, and the American football team he coached is Wichita State Shockers, where I work.
okey this is strange and at the same time a strange surprise 😮, I am used to seeing the notifications instead of entering the channel😅, but this being Ted Lasso, I did not complain and we can still see more content on the channel😂, thanks George and simone😊, greetings from Venezuela👋
The rest of season 1 will be. They have not started season 2 yet over on Patreon and if this does not do really well they may not do a UA-cam release for it. Whether or not they release more TV on UA-cam depends in part on how well this does. Editing TV series takes a lot of time, so it has to perform well to justify the effort. Share it if you know anyone who might enjoy it.
I can't say how happy I was when I saw this reaction was going to be available. Such great characters. The crying banana cat made me pause the video I was laughing so hard. I like the 5 episode format with thoughts in between. Thanks for doing this.
About Jamie's outfit: It's called fashion, George. Look it up. First concert: technically I saw Saliva open for a Butterbean headliner cage fight card, but the real first concert I saw August Burns Red, From First To Last, Poison The Well, and Every Time I Die. Best concert is a tie between Coheed and Cambria in a tiny venue in Corpus Christi & Kings of Leon at the Ascend Amphitheater in Nashville.
My favorite part on episode 2 is when lasso says, let's show crystal palace who's house this is, when they are literally playing at selhurst Park lol home of crystal palace
“This show’s already made me cry twice and it’s only the second episode”

Yaaay, this is such a wonderful show. Glad you're seeing it.
One of the things that always gets me is when he talks about his wife talking him into bringing a suit. Like the head coach of any team at that level wouldn't need multiple suits.
All 3 seasons are incredible!
YES, saw this for the first time at the start of summer and always looked forward to the next episode, so thanks for putting this here.
I'M SO EXCITED you guys are watching this! I'm in!
okey this is strange and at the same time a strange surprise 😮, I am used to seeing the notifications instead of entering the channel😅, but this being Ted Lasso, I did not complain and we can still see more content on the channel😂, thanks George and simone😊, greetings from Venezuela👋
So glad you released this , the characters are so good ...more plz...
I especially appreciate that you’re doing 5 episodes in a video.
Loved watching your reactions to this show, hopefully you put all your Ted Lasso reactions on UA-cam.
Well, this is a nice surprise, 2 of my favourite reactors watching one of my favourite shows. And yes, George, it’s about football. Actual football! 😉
I can't say how happy I was when I saw this reaction was going to be available. Such great characters. The crying banana cat made me pause the video I was laughing so hard. I like the 5 episode format with thoughts in between. Thanks for doing this.
About Jamie's outfit:
It's called fashion, George.
One of my favourite show, with 1883, Battlestar Galactica and Downton abbey!
"That whole thing is Messi" was a great unintentional joke. haha
My favorite part on episode 2 is when lasso says, let's show crystal palace who's house this is, when they are literally playing at selhurst Park lol home of crystal palace
