Trying to strike a compromise with peace activists, the guy who destroys the world bare-chested has been ordered to stop an alien invasion while taking as few lives as possible. As such, this run completes Contra III: The Alien Wars while only destroying enemies and obstacles if they prevent advancement. This requires much more careful dodging than the other run that avoids the warp glitch (tasvideos.org/787M) does.
Our hero takes the dodging one step further by adding the limitation that he cannot shoot enemy projectiles. However, frustrated by the lack of carnage and by the political pressure, our hero lets off steam sometimes by shooting the scenery and doing entertaining dances and poses.
This run improves the previous publication by 25.40 seconds. - Ігри

@@StudleyDuderight That is why they use a "Tool-Assisted Software", a.k.a TAS. A person still have to play it tho, just very very slowly and saving every movement. Every. Movement.
Never in my life did I thought this would be possible in this game.
It's not. Je has cheats on there is no way you can defeat the bosses that fast
@@rbarn2280 no they don't. The TAS can just mash that fast. Now without a TAS, it's probably impossible.
@@rbarn2280 it's a TAS, so he's not using cheats for the run but if you look at the weapons when he shoots at bosses, it's switching insanely fast between weapon 1 and 2. Switching between them and firing as fast as the computer will let you is way faster then just holding the button down for autofire.
I see the runner had fun shooting the weapon in time with the music. That is always appreciated.
The fact that it only took 5800 re-records to dodge all that shit is actually pretty impressive.
This has one of the best descriptions of a TAS for sure. A classic (literally).
But the intro told me to attack aggressively!

I always tried attacking reluctantly, but it didn't turn out as well as this run.
It was passive aggression.
Pacifist Contra turns the first stage into an absolute nightmare. The final stage, which is essentially a boss rush, becomes a cakewalk in comparison because you actually get to shoot and eliminate threats.
List of mandatory and unavoidable kills, bosses aside (sub-bosses included, powerup-drones not included) and other casualties:
S1= 3 kills + 1 suicide
S2= 5 kills + 1 unintentionally provoked suicide
S3= 5 kills (the hovering sub-boss and then the one that climbs on the wall are assumed to be the same entity) + 6 suicides (not counting the other 6 winged soldiers that jumped down because I can assume they safely landed onto the lower platforms the player was standing just moments before) + 8 auto-eliminated
S4= 5 kills (not counting the boss' destructable projectiles) + 5 auto-eliminated
S5= 10 kills (nests and the red ants they spawn are treated as separate entities, not counting the centipede-thing because it just divided into smaller creatures, so it's not dead) + 1 auto-eliminated (boss' tentacle-thing treated as a separate entity)
S6= 5 kills + 13 auto-eliminated (not counting the projectiles fired from the organic mouth-like cannons, counting the two tentacles of the last sub-boss as separate entities) + 5 suicides (not counting the Player's suicide, because it was completely avoidable and not mandatory)

Yeah if it’s not intended. Like, bossfights you can’t pacify and what not. But to see a shoot ‘em up game taken on with this strategy is still fun

For me too. This "The Alien Wars" and "Hard Corps" on Megadrive are the best Contras ever made! Over all, 16bit-games are timeless favourites!

I had to see this for myself. I was not disappointed. That was nuts seeing contra dodge wave after wave of enemies and projectiles. And the game is much more quiet when youre not constantly blasting enemies.

At 0:35 there's a period with the player, seven regular enemies, and two dogs all in a row on-screen at once with no terrible flicker, plus another two enemies above those too.
Very impressive. And it flies in the face of certain people who continue to falsely claim the SNES can't handle more than a few enemies on-screen at once.
Is this a hacked version of the game with some kind of flicker reduction, overclocking, FastROM patch, or slowdown turned off, or just the regular stock game?

No, you can't, it's impossible, it would be better to play it with few deaths, that's what I like about it, it's pure frenetic action

Love this game but I suck at it.
Me at 11 years old huff, it was terrible they killed me many times, I could hardly get with friends or brothers to the skull boss, if you passed from there you are the king of the neighborhood, there were few who passed and they reached the ship where the helicopter helped you balance with the missiles only once I got there, now I'm 38 years old and I say but this game is very easy, it's just practice, that's all and as an adult I have better reflexes for games, I have passed many of the hardcore of my childhood.
If you learn the enemie's patterns, it isn't hard anymore. It's all about routine and reflexes! It's a very good but way to short game...

if you buying this game on the snes-mini it seems you get scammed from the last phase of the last boss, siriously i think nintendo scammed me xD

I've seen a lot of times that he died, a normal game it's impossible, a lot of shots take him.
He literally dodges and ducks bullets. If you look very close or slow it down you can see the frames he's dodging lol
All that cheating just to mess up at the end and die once...smh
