Wow this game looks good to this day. This game is 11 years old and it still looks like it could be an early 360 game. It just goes to show good the original Xbox was when it was built.
+fireheartis1 Yeah the early 360 games were mostly Xbox ports and unfinished Xbox games. Look at Amped 3, abysmal! Fusion Frenzy 2 is also another great example of an Xbox game that was just ported right over to 360 for the overly rushed launch
Most launch 360 games basically were Xbox games in 1080p haha

The 360 version looks to be 720p, but other than that it is the same. Think OG frame rate is better, fewer slowdowns. Just been playing it now on my OG, nice game.

What an unfortunately accurate statement this was 6 years ago.
Forza 1: Tires could explode, you could run out of gas, night driving.
Forza 5: None of the above
Forza 1: terrible graphics, barely any cars
Forza horizon 2: amazing graphics, free roam, weather, 300 cars, seamless online, tuning, full customization
***** You hit the nail on the head my friend, Forza 1 might have inferior graphics, less cars, no weather effects but its a older game so it's to be expected......BUT.....it's a much more complete game.
Point to point races, a good selection of cars that people would want to hoon about not cars for the sake of it (i hate the old cars that fill up the newer forza games) the bodykits & alloy wheel selection was much better in this game too.
The Forza franchise has become a money grabbing shadow of its former self, DLC has ruined Forza to the point where I won't buy another title, Forza ended for me with number 4.
***** I did have a laugh when they made such a fuss over offering the Nurburgring as a free download, I don't think they understand that when you have to rebuild a track because of new hardware that it's still just a track we've all seen before.
Does Forza 5 even have a day/night cycle yet, or weather? Project Gotham racing 4 had weather for God's sake.
***** I never played Enthusia, I always meant to buy it but never did.
I was always a big supporter of Forza because I thought GT had gone a bit stale but now I think it's just become a horrible cash-in.
My brother is into the painting side of Forza & noticed that you can't paint the lower section of the front bumper of the R34 GTR, a mistake which is STILL in the most current games.
The Toyota Supra which has a massive following has some truly awful bodykits in Forza, I'd also like to see staggered wheel sizes actually come into Forza.
I honestly thought I was going mad & nobody else noticed these mistakes another of which is the Ferrari F50s rear wheels, which should have a deep dish to them & don't......STILL!
My feeling are that we might, just might see what a truly next-generation Forza title looks like with Forza 6.
But I won't hold my breath.

I've still got all my consoles from the Sega master system onwards so I'll get on eBay & see if I can track down a copy.
I actually bought a PS3 just for GT5, big mistake.
I'll just say the word Premium lol.
Thank God The Last of Us came out because I think I would have sold the whole system otherwise.
GT6 is a far more impressive return to form, tho the car roster is rather odd sometimes.
I'm looking forward to Project Cars but I'll have to buy into the latest consoles for that.
I remember how I hated Blue Mountains raceway. Now I kinda miss it. Man, why did I have to leave the disc lying on the ground like an idiot and my dad stepped on it and crushed it?
This game was so fun when playing online many hours having crazy matches on Test Track oval with Enzos and having Drift battles on Tsukuba and Road Atlanta. Good times on Xbox Original live

One of my first games I've ever played on Xbox, 12 years ago. It's odd and a bit sad to look back all those years ago and remember the good ol' days gone by. Half-Life 2 still brand new, the oringal Halo's. the oringal Cods, Doom 3, miss those times of gaming.

I remember this being a great-looking game but I didn't think it would still look as good as it does.
I remember playing this game with 3 clasmates in our classroom when we were back in school lol. 2 in one team driving audi leman race cars on nurburgring with split screen, switching drivers at the final straight for the teamwork. Those were real good old days :P
The original halo, KOTOR 1 and 2, the original Fable, Forza. God these were the games that started all the big franchises we have today over 10 years ago and they're still amazing. It's been a long time time since I played a game that blew my mind like these did. Only one that came close was the first Assassins Creed and Gears of War

Just got my copy yesterday. Brand new in the wrapper.
I've played Gran Turismo since OG PlayStation days, and just finally bought a original Xbox last week. And I gotta say. For someone that has put more time into Gran Turismo 4 than any person ever should, this game gives them a run for there money.
Ah, the memories. I remember celebrating Forza 6 months BEFORE seeing it...I just knew it would be good! :D And now we have Forza 5 and Forza Horizon 2 to look foward to! YEAHHHH!!!

I'm a huge Gran Turismo fan. And Imo the best Forza games would be 1, 4, and Horizon 2.
+Dianna Diamond I sold my XB1 after becoming bored with Forza 5 and I have to admit I'm having much more fun with 2, 3, and 4. I am excited to try out the Horizon series next!

I loved the night driving , boost gauge and the tracks you don't get in the newer Forza's.
Mark , an El Camino has been in Forza since the third one as DLC. Forza 4 has many cars you'd love!

The very first video game I ever played, back in 2006. MEMORIES!
I loved GT on PS1 and I remember Digital Polyphony saying as game storage technology improved they wanted the series to become an encyclopedia of cars featuring about every model they could. Also my Grandfather had the same 4th gen Camaro featured in the game and the RWD driving physics were pretty spot on, they got way too squirrely in later games. We should be at that encyclopedia stage now. Can't drive my 1982 Trans Am on any GT (Forza either but they do represent every Trans Am generation and the 1987 GTA is probably a better choice for a racing game, PGR3 had an 82 though, what happened to that series? I want my weak, underpowered 305 represented!!), but by golly I can drive every permutation of Nissan Skyline in GT!
Just got Forza 5 (and Horizon 360 at a friends request before I jump into the full-priced XB1 Horizon 2) the other day and the series is still very strong. Got GT5 a few months ago and played it once or twice and haven't picked it up since. I think the analog triggers on the XB1 really make the games work. The DLC cars do suck. The '87 TA and 2002 Ram-Air were of course DLC so $6 right out the gate to get my two most desired cars. The '73 and '77 were included, and other than the '81 and '89 Turbo T/As, I think Forza has me covered for Pontiac goodness!

Racing against your fastest tunes in Drivatar mode while A.I. drivers stomp you with them was simply the best feature ever created.

This game was my jam when I was a kid. One of the most unique features it had was that you could teach the game how you drive and it would use your driving patterns and drive for you on the long 50 lap races

Funny how in a few short years, they eventually added el caminos and spaceships (effectively)(still no lazers) to Forza Horizon 3 and 4

bought this game new back in the day and remeber i was sold by just playing the demo. I knew i had to get this.
this game is great. best part are the engine tuning options. i put a gt2 porsche engine in a 70s 911. so much fun!
Like the GNX? Watch the TV show "Life". The cop drives one and loves it. I have a copy of the original Forza. And made sure mine gas the printed sticker on the left side of the cover that says: " Better than Gran Turismo 4 - Electronic Gaming Monthly".
But yea, Forza 1 is still looks good today. And is the most ambitious Forza of the series. As is Forza 2. After that only the graphics and sounds got prettier. content got thinner.
The perfect Forza game would have all cars, tracks, body kits/spoilers, rims, features of all forzas combined. Including Storefront, Auction House, weather, day & night racing, more creative freedom and finally a functioning pit crew.

When I played this I used the music on my hard drive great series for the Xbox was a GT fan till this came out and forza hasn't disappoint me

I went straight to Forza 4 Last month. I love it so much. It's not a simulator like GT but it's fun none the less.
yaay you drive a celica :) huge kudos ! :) still driving one :) But im very sad if there isnt a supra/celica or nowdays gt86 in a racing game. So i guess you know how dissapointed i was when i booted up driver SF... well i guess ill stick with my challenger / nissan gt-R then :)

Will this play on the XBOX One X? I still have a 360 but wonder if I need to keep it once the X is out?
It is NOT backward compatible on the X. I suspect it never will be due to the expired car licensing. The only Forza that is backward compatible on the one and X is Horizon 1, which was released for BC shortly before being delisted due to its licensing expiring. All other 360 Forzas have expired, so most likely they won't come to BC either.

I played that game religiously as a kid at 18 years of age. I remember playing the demo at a Toys R Us kiosk and immediately fell in love with Forza Motorsport. It was everything Gran Turismo was and wasn't. It was a racing simulator like Gran Turismo but it was at the time, a very realistic racing game, probably even more than Gran Turismo. The original Xbox had some amazing games and Forza Motorsport is among them.
I wish I would've started with this game first, comparing this to Gran Turismo I see the differences. One thing that's a pet peeve is the tiniest attention to detail that FM1 missed. Two examples, the Porsche Carrera GT's spoiler doesn't raise after hitting 70mph I believe, and the Mercedes SLR McLaren's air brake doesn't rise when braking. Is it due to this being the first attempt of racing game being done like this on the Xbox? Would it have been too much processing power that it could handle? I noticed the same thing on FM2 and FM3 and those were on the Xbox 360
I still play this game because its still fantastic and it has some cars and tracks missing from the other forzas.
I know nostalgia isn`t everything in a video game, but it makes up a big part of the games for me.
So proud of the Forza series. They sure did come a long way.

after I saw this review, i just googled this game and found a shop who still had an used copy of it. It works smooth on my X360...

This game came out in 2005 for the Original Xbox, not 2004. One of my favorite racers besides PGR3.
I have buddies who love gaming but they just don't understand why I love driving games. "It's so dumb come play COD with us, do you even Skyrim?" Lol, they're so one dimensional. I love all gaming.
Man this game made my childhood.
I must say that, the driving itself was better in Forza, but the GT4 experience was overall incredible. The music, the progression through the Game, the menu that looked like a map, the menus were more looked after than in the first Forza... It was a better experience overall in my opinion. But man, if you are all about driving then this game was incredible.
I picked up a new copy on EBay for about $6 but haven't gotten around to checking it out.
The El Camino is basically just a Chevrolet Chevelle (one of the most iconic muscle cars to come out of the United States) turned into a pick up truck. Since it's such a weird combination, it's seen as unique, hence why it's a classic.
awesome game. still got my xbox setup & use it more than my xbox one. games are awful now, cost way too much,take way too long to install & update, so much left out they are not worth the money. won't even be worth buying ps4 & xbox one games cheap as pre-owned cos you still have to get the dlc stuff extra.get an old ps2, ps3, xbox360 or xbox & enjoy collecting & playing old games or get into emulation of c64, amiga, spectrum etc. way more fun than modern games. plus its nice in a way to give old games a bit of the love & credit they deserve.

I still play Forza 1 TO be honest, i would customize the shit out of my cars, i just wish soooooo badly that they had Lamborghini's in the game. Not to mention NOOOO FUCKING MICRO TRANSACTIONS OR DLC NEEDED, Just play your damn heart out

I'm glad you decided to give the original Forza a try, it has things that the newer games in the series lack and I can't recommend it enough.
Of all the Forza games I have this is the one I keep coming back to, the rest collect dust. I may actually do a nasty and get rid of them.
I almost never sell games no matter how bad they are but Forza 2 and the rest of the sequels just waste space for me, so they may become the first exceptions to my no-sell rule.
I was thinking about getting into this series.. GT is cool too.. nothing wrong with more of a good thing.
