I miss the old PS2 days where games didnt need an upadate everytime you turned them on or you actually got a WHOLE game instead of half a game and then half to pay for the other half through "extra" DLC.
Amen. I rarely play my PS3 anymore because every game needs a few gigs of updates as soon as I pop it in. Not being a fanboy but my 360 takes seconds to update games and my PS3 takes hours. Hell, I can't even bring up my trophies in under a half-hour on my PS3. Just wondering why that is?
This is why I'm glad the indie explosion came along when it did. Getting a bunch of complete games on the cheap still containing engaging design ideas instead of sinking money into a DRM-tagged base product for necessary DLC? Sold! Though the Early Access thing really needs to take it down several notches.
Forza and Gran Turismo have a lot in common. The 4th games are the best in the series. 5 is when they got washed up and 6 is almost the same as 5 except with more stuff.
This is possibly the best "Console Exclusive" driving game, i've ever played. Stable framerates, the tracks are well designed and the driving is simply the best.
Dncmaster It's not that bad on 360 granted it doesn't look as good as forza horizon 1 because of the bigger map and some other drawbacks. If someone doesn't want to buy a xbox one and just want a new racing game there horizon 2 is decent on 360.
I was never really a fan of realistic racing simulators until I played Forza 4. I had fun with Nascar 2005 Chase for the Cup for a few years when the game came out, and an old Indy Car game for the N64 during early childhood, but I was never as enthusiastic as I am now. I'm still pretty shallow when it comes to being an automobile enthusiast, but it's series like Forza that really inspire me to look deeper into it.
I was playing Forza 4 on my 360 and Gran Turismo 4 on my PS2 side by side earlier today. It's nice to see that Forza 4 hasn't just fallen to the wayside, with the new consoles.
The future of Forza will include an always online restriction (like the Crew & Destiny). It will have microtransactions for everything including doing minor upgrades like changing the oil or repainting the car. You will have to buy the base game at $59.99 and pay a monthly subscription fee at $19.99 to continuing playing it. The AI for the game will be ridiculously hard causing you to seriously consider purchasing some boosts on the side to help you progress in the game. Of course, purchasing boost packs will be separate from purchasing DLCs. All of this and the online servers will probably be shitty like the NBA 2k servers and crash often leaving you wondering why you even bought the game in the first place.
It's as if this will become the new "Free to play" model this gen, except you pay $60 to start up, then spend more real money to unlock stuff from the disc or download. The end is nigh! ;)
It's kind of ironic... The parking meter analogy applies to arcade games too. We're kind of going back to those days in a way. Except you pay a $60 entry fee.
One other thing I've noticed about 4 vs 5. When you click up on the d-pad in a race to get to your car specs, in Forza 5 there's a tiny hesitation in the game before it appears on the screen. Not so in Forza 4
Oh My God! So true! The whole review was so true! Forza 5 had my favorite car (2002 Pontiac Firebird Ram Air) for DLC when every other Forza game I own (1-5) had it in game without having to pay DLC for it! DLC is just ruining the game industry with the help of micro transactions on Mobile games
After all these years I thought you were being nostalgic and quirky owning and loving the Chevrolet El Camino, I was totally shocked to find there's NOTHING in the El Camino's class that beats it in Forza Motorsport 4 in terms of raw speed. The icing on the cake is you can make the El Camino go faster and still keep it in class D. the cars speed advantage compared to all other D class cars is jaw dropping considering the El Camino was made in 1970! I felt thoroughly bored with Forza Motorsport 4 until I went into the options and turned off assisted braking and steering, the difference is like night and day.
I love Forza 4. It's the best in the series and I miss it terribly. It was the only reason I kept my 360 for a loonnngg time. Like 3-4 years. I ended up selling it and now I wish I hadn't. I may end up buying a 360 just to play this game again. I'd buy one used of course lol Man.. I miss this game.
I saw a clean, scratch free copy of this at a thrift store, and bought it for $2 even though I already have it. Such a good game, and for $2 I felt like I was practically stealing it lol
Been watching you for so long I have another channel and I started watching you since 2010 in this game is really old how come you're reviewing it. But thanks for bringing back the old Forza I miss it
I love how you have used this review to rant against DLC! lol ... Thank you for reiterating for me why I've not bought any of the new generation systems and instead gone backwards in time to enjoy the likes of SNES, Genesis, and NES!
Im a big gran turismo fan but i recently got an xbox 360 and i heard good reviews about this series and wanted to see for myself. The thing is should i try forza 3 first or should i go to forza 4. Please reply thanks.
About the sound in Forza 4, I've noticed that it seems like every car has a sort of VTEC crossover point, yes i know that's stupid but there really seems like there's a point in the RPM range where every car's engine sound suddenly changes and gets louder like old school Honda VTEC. At least the sound doesn't go all crackly like Forza 5 does to me on occasion
Spot-on review. Picked this up on a bargain bin run the other day with a few other titles, and frankly, this game is about as good as you can realistically expect from a games console. The sim-heads can debate it all they want, but this is more fun. Having owned GT6 and 5 previously, again, this wins hands down, far ahead in terms of artwork, scenic course variation (something Gran Turismo used to be good at up to GT4) and that growl of the engines. Super game, and I got it literally for pennies. GT6 did have excellent chassis feel though, gotta admit that, it made the handling very intuitive, but it was just a very dry kinda game overall.
This felt like less of a review and more of a soap box to rant about Forza 5 lol. It honestly took away from what is actually one of the best racing games ever made. This game had so many cars that weren't DLC. It was actually an absurd amount of cars! And the DLC was cool but it wasn't necessary. Heck, i bought a new copy a while back and it came prepackaged with codes for like 5 full DLC packs! This for like $30! Way more than worth it. But again, this game should stand alone and not be used only to bash other games.
***** I literally just got done playing Horizon (first), and the content is pretty bad. It has a pretty sad roster of cars and on top of that, a good amount of cars that i actually wanted were DLC. There were maybe 100 cars in Horizon with another 50 or so as DLC. That's not good. We should have taken it as a sign of things to come but hey, all we can do is not buy the DLC and demand they give us an actual game with Forza 6 and not just 10 cars and a track for $65 with day 1 DLC packs that equal 200 additional cars. Also, i think what hurt the most about going from Forza 4 to 5 is, the fact that not only did Forza 4 have a crazy amount of cars, the developers went out of their way to get the Porsche license just to make up for the fact that they couldn't even touch Porsche cars while the license was EA's. And now we have Forza 5, where the developers are charging us money for cars that have been in every racing game for free dating back to Pole Position lol. I honestly hopes this just stops before we just have a money wall 5 minutes into the game
***** I did the math and Forza 5 had 43% of the content of 4. We all know Turn 10 fucked up Forza 5, that was over a year ago. Let's just hope they don't make the same stupid mistake for 6!!
1:28 - Mark, also better sound and amazingly better controls This the best racing game of the last gen to me, realy fun. Also Backed ETHEL, The cyborg Ninja
I agree with the entire rant... I mean Forza 4 review :) The whole ordeal with patches and DLC has made me return to the previous generations exclusively for my gaming needs. The industry really needs to quit with the bullshit if it ever wants to see a dollar out of my wallet again.
Bang on when he said "End of the era when you got the full game that you paid for". But these graphics are really, really good, graphics aren't everything I know, but the glowing review makes me want to purchase the game. Or wait for Project Cars.
That's exactly what I thought. I expected Forza 4 for Forza 3. When I saw first pics of 4, I was stunned. Plus, Forza 4 had the Fiero. Which came with the December car pack.
The Porsche DLC for Forza 4 was quite essential to me. But to be fair, it was only missing from the main game because of an exclusive deal between Porsche and EA.
Spoiler alert. I know what the change is thats coming tommorow. From now on when mark posts a video you get the first 2 minutes free then the rest of the video is dlc that you have to pay for. Its the future...embrace it.
I kinda felt that Forza 5 was, while gameplay/physics standpoint was great, overall felt abit rushed to market to meet the launch window of the X1, the experimenting with the real cash shop boosters etc, having some cars that were staples of the series (as in cars already in car non-dlc) become DLC, no real forza marketplace for tunes/paintjobs/auction house/etc and a few other problems. DLC isn't bad if it's good content that adds replay value to the game, like new cars I'm interested in or new tracks at a reasonable price. The problem with Forza 5 is that a good portion of DLC content are cars I already have in Forza 4. I hate the fact that Forza 4 doesn't have custom races offline (no, I'm not going to pay an online subscription to do something that every other game lets me do offline for free), it doesn't have tire wear either, both features are essential for people who enjoy proper races. Other than that FM4 is the best game in the series, and probably the best racing game one can get on console.
Forza 3 is where the extreme amount of DLC started for this series. There is quite literally over 100 cars as DLC each for Forza 3 and Forza 4. To make things even worse you can't even buy any of them any more as they have all (including the DLC for Forza 2 and Forza Horizon 1) been removed from the Xbox Live store, so even if you wanted to you can't make these games "complete" anymore. Just to make it even worse they didn't even give any notice to their users that they were removing the DLC for Forza 2, 3 and 4, they just removed them and only told their users they had been removed after they had already removed them. I love the Forza series, but Turn 10's customer service is absolutely appalling.
This isn't a Forza 4 review, it's a Forza 5 bash. Love you Mark.
"when did it become a crime, to enjoy the stuff you paid for"
So true, the games industry is going so down hill in this regard.
*The triple a industry
I remember how beautiful the graphics seemed when I was a kid, they still are too.
I miss the old PS2 days where games didnt need an upadate everytime you turned them on or you actually got a WHOLE game instead of half a game and then half to pay for the other half through "extra" DLC.
I play far fewer games these days because of dlc and having to pay to play online
you sir, are a certified genius.
Robert Boshears JR Trophies take a while cause you haven't synced them with the server in a long time(months maybe)
This is why I'm glad the indie explosion came along when it did. Getting a bunch of complete games on the cheap still containing engaging design ideas instead of sinking money into a DRM-tagged base product for necessary DLC? Sold!

Can't forget the menu music in this game. It's so cinematic beautiful. Sometimes I'll just stay idle in the menus to listen to the music.
Forza 4 is arguably by far one of the best racing games ever made. I really really hope Forza 6 ends up being the proper sequel we all wanted.
it damn well better have night and weather
*****
It's a Kart racer. It's kinda hard to compare a fantasy kart racer to a simcade (simulation-arcade) racer.
Arexion5293 Mario Kart 8 is good though. ;)
Azrial Alaria
It is.
its just gonna be "DLC: the videogame" just like Forza 5 anyways
"Get that damn Prius out of my way!"
Mark Bussler - 2015
Yup, can confirm Forza 4 is superior to Forza 5 in almost every way. Although I personally prefer GT6 for consoles and Assetto Corsa for PC.
***** I like Forza 5 physics/control better. and it is prettier. thats all it has on Forza 4
Forza 4 and Forza Horizon are 2 of my favorite Xbox 360 games.
Horizan 2 should still be played on an Xbone
I'm talking about the first Horizon.
Dncmaster It's not that bad on 360 granted it doesn't look as good as forza horizon 1 because of the bigger map and some other drawbacks. If someone doesn't want to buy a xbox one and just want a new racing game there horizon 2 is decent on 360.
Well, I can't tell you about Horizon 2 on 360, but I can tell you that Horizon 2 on X1 is amazing (in my opinion).
Zenos Enos Oh I read it like it was Horizan 2 sorry
I was never really a fan of realistic racing simulators until I played Forza 4. I’ve played all forza games.....but I’m a beast at this one. A freaking beast.....

stucazzo2000 makes you wonder huh? This current gen is overrated.
+lilrick98 ever heard of Nintendo?
In my opinion, this is the greatest console racing game of all time.
It's kind of ironic... The parking meter analogy applies to arcade games too. We're kind of going back to those days in a way. Except you pay a $60 entry fee.

I just bought one and I have to say the last time I play a game with so many cars was in Grand Turismo 3 but without proper sound.

And the title music closes out the final CGR episode under the old format.
....and now we wait.

Racing games always bring out really good CGR reviews.
Also, Forza 4 kicks ass! So much fun to be had! Never enjoyed a racing sim more
Great review!
This game still looks pretty on the 360.
I miss this game.
picked up this game yesterday and love it and way better than forza 5
What about forza 6? It's pretty good
yes i have and love forza 6 and when forza horizon 3 comes out can not wait for that
Wow you finally review it 4 years after it came out...
Damn I just watched the whole review and you're right!
9 YEARS 🤯🤯🤯🤯
Nebulai Lol I commented this 5 years ago 😂😂😂, but crazy this game is 9 years old already LOL
What car is he driving at 7:24? That dashboard is beautiful!
Forza 4 truly is the king of console racers.
I think... I, I think this is th-the last normal re-review O_O
you know you can make ur el camino (the one you drive) with a 70 front clip el camino.
oh the good old days of drifting in FM4 with my friends... it maeks me cri just thinking about it ;_;
I saw a clean, scratch free copy of this at a thrift store, and bought it for $2 even though I already have it. Such a good game, and for $2 I felt like I was practically stealing it lol
Been watching you for so long I have another channel and I started watching you since 2010 in this game is really old how come you're reviewing it. But thanks for bringing back the old Forza I miss it
Did you just ask why he'd review an old game? You do realize you're watching CLASSIC Game Room right now?
I love how you have used this review to rant against DLC! lol ... Thank you for reiterating for me why I've not bought any of the new generation systems and instead gone backwards in time to enjoy the likes of SNES, Genesis, and NES!
Forza 4 is actually my most favorite racing game of all time. It's that good.
I always wanted to drive a Jaguar XJ220 GT while I listen to Pantera in a japanese mountain road!
8:45
"Ow."
lol
Long live the VCR!
I miss this channel 😭
Hells yeah!! Agree with everything
think i might pick this up again while i wait for project cars :)
Why didn't you like Forza 3 Mark? I played the hell out of 2 and 3 and loved them both.
Man, I've played this game A LOT.
I still play GT 4 to this day since my xbox got the Ring of *Fire* from playing too much froza 3.
Both thumbs up alone for the Conan references! :D
The graphics still look amazing. The reflections on the cars. I'm shocked it looked that good looking back at it
I really enjoyed the not so subtle message throughout this review. DLC abuse is not cool. Great Job Mark. Everyone should boycott companies who do it.
how do i get a damn Honda CR-Z in this game in 2020!! should i write a letter to microsoft
Forza 4 and forza 6 are tied as my favorite racing game.
you get one disc to play but don't get the cars that need to be downloaded using the other disc
Im a big gran turismo fan but i recently got an xbox 360 and i heard good reviews about this series and wanted to see for myself. The thing is should i try forza 3 first or should i go to forza 4. Please reply thanks.
i loved this review so much. straight to the face with fucked up corporate greed.
About the sound in Forza 4, I've noticed that it seems like every car has a sort of VTEC crossover point, yes i know that's stupid but there really seems like there's a point in the RPM range where every car's engine sound suddenly changes and gets louder like old school Honda VTEC. can you even choose what side to have the wheel on?
i want a good open world cockpit view game with wheel on the left side

True, all Forza after this have to live up to this one. It also is the only Forza that has the Fiero GT.
The last good Forza game.
R.I.P. good Forza 2005-2011
Can you listen to 'Magical Sound Shower' while driving a red Testerosa?

1:28 - Mark, also better sound and amazingly better controls
This the best racing game of the last gen to me, realy fun. Also Backed ETHEL, The cyborg Ninja
Love the Conan references.
I agree with the entire rant... I mean Forza 4 review :) The whole ordeal with patches and DLC has made me return to the previous generations exclusively for my gaming needs. The industry really needs to quit with the bullshit if it ever wants to see a dollar out of my wallet again.

what was the change?
Mark have you ever tried Forza Horizon?
Spoiler alert. I know what the change is thats coming tommorow. From now on when mark posts a video you get the first 2 minutes free then the rest of the video is dlc that you have to pay for. Its the future...embrace it.
It's called Patreon exclusive videos
all lord karnage approvals go through Ethel the Cyborg Ninja :D
I laughed my ass off when he put the disc in a vcr :)
So, the money eating ways of the arcades have arrived in your home?
I kinda felt that Forza 5 was, while gameplay/physics standpoint was great, overall felt abit rushed to market to meet the launch window of the X1, the experimenting with the real cash shop boosters etc, having some cars that were staples of the series (as in cars already in car non-dlc) become DLC, no real forza marketplace for tunes/paintjobs/auction house/etc and a few other problems. I am really hoping to see Forza 6 fix all these issues from the outspoken forza community when we will see the game this E3 and get it back on track to the Forza 4 level of quality.
That came with my XBOX 2 years ago. Awesome game.
4:02 "It's like the end of an era."
When they change, it will be the end of an era.
DAMMIT MARK! Now I want an Xbox 360! Now I don't know what to spend my money on!
Nice review and I like this game too
Awesome video
the road reflects light like a mirror all the time
Forza 4 had a lot of DLC too ...
+Roubert Marvin Sadly that's a trend with most racing games.
+braden8361 with that said, the quality was good and Forza 4 was a good game so i didnt mind ... but NFS DLC, no way
Well The dlc was extra/ Cars that where released after the game was.
IIRC, a lot of Forza 4's DLC was made up of new cars. Forza 5's were literally cars just from the previous games.
I bet even the brake button will be DLC in Forza 6.
And the wheels are dlc , 10 dollar each
you need, NAY YOU DESERVE MORE VIEWS AND SUBS!
This old game shits on GT6!
I have both, and i can confirm it really does.
likewise....
thats true i am forza ultra fanboy and gt6 suck
I can't decide tbh
I had GT6 but it's like in a way I played it because I didn't have a 360 and Forza. 4 is one of my favorite racing games ever.
Hahaha, I like it when you talk about "bad dlc" 😂
They have top gear in america?
When Mark was still doing game reviews...
Conan the Barbarian reference! Yeaaaah! :D :D :D
So true 😔
Mark, it's 2020 now. Is Forza Motorsport 4 still your favorite Forza Motorsport game? How would you compare 4 to 6 and even 7?
truer words have never been spoken about dlc and all its b$.. thank you mark, great review..
Any game with a commodore is awesome
Now I know what it is! He's adding a separate channel for racing games!
Whats gonna happen tomorrow?!?!?!?
I was very serious about this game for a while.
You should check out project gotham racing 2.
I just spent half an hour on ebay looking for cool hot wheels cars now.
What does forza mean?
I literally have bought the essential edition (which comes whith the best 320 car built in ) for $1.
