I simply love the fantoys dinobots, i have them all and this one with swoop are both my favorite, they did an outstanding job...i love everything about these figures, and the crome is amazing on this one! And great review as usual :)

Well day. A few years in and these toys still rock! I too am a Fans Toys fan boy. It took a few years but this year (2021) I was finally able to finish my set and these have to be some of the best 3rd party toys ever made. Fans Toys just nailed the Masterpiece aesthetic. I just love of they all fit in with my Masterpiece Grimlock Again thanks for the review.
Amazing you hit the nail on the head Fans Toys gets the G1 esthetic. Their product looks official so much so that they only need the faction symbol. Gutter looks good for a third party shelf and Sever was made for a Masterpiece shelf. Thanks for the early review I am geeking out. Cheers

I enjoyed the larger size of the Gigapower (NOT) Dinobots. So I bought for full set. I must admit it was a real tough decision to make. One of the difficulties of being a masterpiece collector.
I just got him and who are we kidding grimlock does not fit will even with the scoria lifts. Ft is making a grimlock so that may be the way to go. Or the ko os grimlock

I'm glad you mentioned the elephant in the room about this vs.the Gigapower version nut I would have loved to see them together where you could have pointed out the difference between the two and we could see visually. Are you going to review the G creations combiner versions coming out?
Great review! This and the Gigapower Gutter look too be great toys all though Shogo Hasui himself said the MP line was never meant to be cartoon accurate but be the ultimate version with influences from all source materials.

emgo316 True the cartoon is the main source of design inspiration but it's not the only source. Here's a excerpt from a interview with Hasui about MP-10 which led to the new MP direction. "Q- I see you have been very particular about recreating Convoy from the cartoon. A-Hasui: Not exactly so, if I only picked the details from cartoon Convoy, it will not make a highly detailed design fit for MP series. I incorporated details from American comics and the toy where more details were required. For example, the details on the shoulder were taken from the original toy as well as the headlights - they are square-shaped in the cartoon, but they don't look right in three dimensional form. I added the silver stripes like the original toy for the same reason even though they are absent in the cartoon Convoy. You will notice there aren't many details created newly for this Convoy once you take a close look. Even the inside of the feet or the back are based on some previous images of Convoy. And my favorite quote from him about the MP line. "Neither making the cartoon version into a three dimensional form nor making it as realistic as possible is a good idea." - Shogo Hasui
Pretty cool that FansToys is essntially filling in all sorts of Masterpiece toys that never were. Personally, I like the look of the FoC/Planet X Dinobots more, but these G1 Masterpiece versions are really cool. And MP Grimlock does kind of stick out in robot mode. Dino mode fits in pretty well, but the robot mode he just looks a little too stumpy.
Back when I was a kid I had about nearly all the original metal transformers. Prime and ultra Magus were the same truck but Magus was all white. Had the decepticons fortress the big black and purple dinosaur, had metroplex, Devastator, the original gun megaton, soudwave, shockwave, starscream, jetfire, rodimus, that's just a few I remember
I just picked up Sever and I am overwhelmed by the gold chrome. This thing looks incredible. I'm all for his posablility in alt mode as how much movement can a stegosaurus have? I think my only nitpick would be a lack of accessories. It can be forgiven though as he didn't have much as far as the character went anyway. Big and sturdy. I love it!

The Japanese versions were all vehicle-based and had tiny human figures--Mini-men, I think they were called--that could fit inside. Look at G1 Grimlock, for example, and you will see that he has a cockpit in his back.
Fantastic review as always man, thank you. Informative & good for a bit of craic. Is the 'hole' everyone seems to be crying about the cavity in the back that the panels tuck into an fill in??? How securely do the back plates hold? & do the think the red skirt bit hanging from them at the back gets in the way of waist articulation or anything else? Hate for it to be like the Magnus diaper. Finally, how does it feel weight & joint wise? I found Scoria's weight to be too much in the legs making them all wobbly, & then some of Swoop's were so tight he could've been in stasis-lock

I'd have to disagree with you on what the masterpiece aesthetic is. While the primary influence is the cartoon, there are undeniable details present in every masterpiece figure that were taken from the g1 toys. Otherwise, great video as always.
If only my Sever would have come in dino mode. Man it's a pain to try and reverse engineer how to transform this thing because reviewers want to start in alt mode for some reason. I appreciate the transformation help, but it's hard to try and reverse engineer how you transform it in the video when it's packaged in robot mode.
Just got my Sever today (or as it looks like in with the weird box font, 'Seuer'). Sword is still loose, gun is still too tight. Also the hip swivel makes me cringe cos it's so tight. Thought I was gonna break it.
He looks awesome, I love the shiny crom too. And I saw the wheels on his tail too, it does not make sense. I love swoop when he does that, ever since I seane him do that, I do that to my brother, it drives him crazy. I just walk up to him, put my thumb up in his face and say ayyy. I love it. Having gone down the Toyworld Dino combiner route I will never own this toy, the engineering on this guy is by far the best out of any of the 3rd Party NOT Snarls, Guttur has the looks but this guy has the engineering, I assume you had to send back the Guttur test sample, as it would have been good to do a direct size comparison with that, one thing I will say about this the gold chrome is very yellow compared to the other fans Toys Dinos especially Scotia?
I know it's supposed to be the best representation out on the market at this point but I just can't get past the face design. To me I think the face/head can make or break a figure and in this case, it does hurt it quite a bit. It's got that cheap KO look to it that does not belong to a $200 dollar toy, but I guess that's just sticking to the G1 animation look...
Great Review there, but i Think i rather have a Minicon symbol right there instead of the Autobot logo, soo much more fun! Or go shattered glass on theyír asses and put D-con symbols, so many options. ;D
Is nobody else going to mention the massive hole in the dino chest ? It's the same issue as FOC Grimlock and kinda turns me off this guy v the gigapower version. Also gigapower are including some other gimmicks (more bang for your buck) On the plus side I'm really glad to see more ratchet joints so we won't have the same limp arm issue we had with scoria.
So you're one of those people who displays their toys upside down? lol I never had any issues with my scoria and I have the test shot. Flame booties and a clear Dino helmet doesn't sell the toy for me, but to each his own.
emgo316 it's not the flame booties as such it's the chest opening I like. I just feel that an MP style toy should be a step above and not have a hollow chest. Don't get me wrong I love your videos and congrats on the 100k subs but I thought you could of mentioned it...
I didn't mention it because I don't see it as an issue because... I don't display my toys upside down lol. Mp bumblebee has hollow forearms. Half of sideswipe's inner leg is hollow. Wheeljack has some hollowness. Sometimes it's not possible to fill every gap.

I have owned the original G1 Snarl. But as g1 toy have low articulation, and the leg transparent peg after some transformation, holding not so hard (start cracking down) the dino under leg. Im waiting now to make a better, new 3p powermaster optimus. The Xovergen version is wide from the original.

In the cartoons, the scales were never consistant. In Desertion of the Dinobots, one shot shows Swoop and Snarl as taller than Grimlock.
