To me this video was like a mini-movie. Amazing character development in a music video. She’s a high powered executive but she’s caught up in risky behavior and the Angel of Death is trying to warn her. I love her power look and her amazing performance. She performed this live on SNL with stellar vocals - that would be my vote for the next reaction.
You ladies are great to watch! Another gem in Madonna's massive discography. I think the 90's was her most creative decade- JUST WAIT until you get to the Rain video!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So much good stuff coming up!
Thank you so much! ❤️❤️
This album has been great so far - We can't wait to see what's next! ❤️
She performed this on SNL in 1993 and it is imo one of her best live performances. A must see!
Madonna has only performed this LIVE once on Saturday Night Live *reaction recommendation)……….until the Celebration Tour ❤️
One of my fav M vids/songs. You absolutely did it justice… You ladies are always so perceptive. You seem to hone in on all the details that many totally miss, or are oblivious to. Massive kudos to ya both. You never disappoint,
David Fincher directed the vid , as he did for Vogue and Express Yourself . Truly 3 of her very best video's to this day.
Aww, you're very sweet. Thank you so much! ❤️❤️
I knew this video would blow you both away, it is one of the best visual representations of one of her songs ever.I get emotional every-time I watch this. For a live version, please watch the Saturday Night Live appearance, it’s amazing.❤😊
❤️❤️
Best music video ever...she is endlessly creative 🙌
She JUST PERFORMED BAD GIRL for the FIRST TIME in 30 YEARS on her CELEBRATION TOUR...❤😊
At last! Plus beautiful piano playing by beautiful Mercy. ❤❤
The video is loosely based on the movie, Looking For Mister Goodbar (1977). Christopher Walken could be a guardian angel or the grim reaper. This video is a piece of art. Directed by David Fincher, who went on to direct: Seven, Fight Club, Gone Girl, etc.
Definitely a piece of art. ❤️❤️
That was a beautiful reaction. From what I understand, he is her guardian angel, and he keeps protecting her from the harm she might cause to herself, and preventing other men from causing her harm. At the end of the video, he is distracted reading the paper, and loses sight of her. When he finally finds her, he knows it is too late, there's nothing he can do now. She brought home a dangerous man and she is about to be killed, so he gives her "the kiss of death". And she also kinds of feels something is not right, but decides it is probably nothing.
Thank you so much! ❤️❤️
Love your thoughts about the guardian angel - Thank you for sharing those with us! ❤️
I have been one of the biggest Madonna fans since the 1980s. For some reason I never heard this song until I watched her recent concert in Rio. Wow!! I was blown away by this song. So beautiful!! It has quickly become one of my 2 favorite songs by her (the other being Rain). I had to watch a reaction video to see what people think and I’m glad to see others had the same type of reaction to this beautiful song.
Thank you for watching with us! ❤️❤️
So glad you got to hear this one - It really is a great song!
This is my favourite video from her. I love the storyline. The cinematography. David Fincher stamp is very noticeable.
Oh Yes, love this song and amazing video, her range of ideas and videos in her library have entertained for so many years. No one does it better than a lady named Madonna ❤️
The Erotica album is about sex and romance - it explores the pleasures and pain that love can bring and how sometimes how the two are connected.
Well said! That sums it up perfectly.
Deal with all the different facets of love
Incredible video and incredible reaction!! Thank you ladies!! 🥰🥰
Aww, thank you so much! ❤️❤️
Madonna and David Fincher were an artistic force. David directed this video, Express Yourself, Oh Father and Vogue. He went on to make some of my favourite films
The Saturday Night Live she performs this brilliantly. This live is way better. The emotion in the live performance is one of the best!
That is one of my favorite songs and videos ever!
It's exactly as you said, Erotica is an exploration of relationships and feelings on a spectrum from liberation to self-destruction. What I have always felt unique about Madonna was her ability to talk about her experiences and her fears in a very personal way. Her street culture, her experiences as a young woman moving to an urban jungle like New York was in the 70s. However, here we are in the golden age of Madonna music videos. She brought this expressive medium to levels that had never been seen before. Musically, everything has really changed compared to previous albums: in this song, no frills, a rhythmic skeleton, a direct and unfiltered use of the voice within a beautiful melody. It goes straight to the heart. It makes me think that at the moment of her maximum power, Madonna just before making Erotica signed an unprecedented multi-million dollar contract and founded her own record label and chose to inaugurate this new phase of hers, I mean she was in a position where she could do truly everything she wanted, she chose to tackle dark, painful and controversial topics. There's a lot of decadence in her moment of glory. One of many moments of glory...😅
So well said - Thank you! ❤️❤️
You ladies are awesome, as a huge Madonna fan I am loving your reactions.
Aww, thank you so much! ❤️❤️
Haven’t watched the video yet. Just came to say here that this year, for the first time in herstory, Madonna is singing this one on tour! This needs a react from you, ladies 😊 now I’m gonna watch your video 😊
Director and by then 3x video collaborator with Madonna at the time (Express Yourself, Oh Father, Vogue), David Fincher showing us a peek of was to come a couple of years later (the psychological crime thriller "Seven"). Madonna stated that she watched the 1970's Diane Keaton movie "Looking for Mr. Goodbar" and Jane Fonda "Klute" for inspiration on characterization and the grim tone of this video.
Thank you for sharing that - Love hearing about her inspiration for this! ❤️❤️
Walken is the grim reaper.
You both are great. Bad Girl is one of my ultimate favorite M songs.
Thank you so much! ❤️❤️
I love you ladies. You’re awesome. I look so forward to your reactions. I get anxious. LOL. Thanks for the amazing videos. It’s like reliving my Madonna life all over again.
Btw, I love the artwork you have up. It’s really beautiful.
Until next time. Thank You both.
The live version would be a SNL performance.
Then later you’ll be surprised when you see her live for yourselves.
Aww, thank you so much - You're very sweet! Sending so much love your way. ❤️❤️
And thank you for the compliment on the artwork - That's very kind of you to say. ❤️
What a piece of art. Song and video! Definitely one of my favorite videos ever, not just by her but by anyone. The effort, budget and detail that went into every scene. She did this 30 years ago and if she released it now, it would still be fresh, sleek and relevant.
I love the song so much, such a shame it got overshadowed by the Erotica backlash, it was the first single of hers that missed the top 20 so it's more of a fan cult classic than a song the public knows. I'm happy you enjoy it as much as i do.
Wonderful reaction, it's so much fun hearing your analysis, it takes smart people to get it first time and you obviously are. It's a video, i wanted to watch immediately again after i first seen it, so much to take in. It took 2 or 3 times til i fully got everything that was going on.
Live version has to be live at Saturday Night Live from 1993.
I think the different singles and videos show what a diverse piece of art, Erotica really was. There is soooo much more to offer than just a sexual title track. It's sad she had to deal with so much negativity and amazing songs and videos like this here went under the radar. In a perfect world, she would have won plenty of MTV awards for this video.
Aww, thank you - You're very kind! ❤️❤️
And yes, it really is a shame that this song/video didn't get the recognition it deserved - It definitely should've won numerous awards.
You two are great. Loved watching your reaction unfold to this wonderful song and music video. I saw Madonna in London in October, and she performed this live for the first ever on one of her tours. I had chills and tears. ❤
Aww, thank you. ❤️❤️
So grateful that she's doing this one on the tour - Bet it's amazing! ❤️
Directed by award winning director David Fincher. A masterpiece
Another great reaction video, I hope #Madonna herself sees one of these, she would be so thrilled that the essence of her art is so well received! 👍👏🏼❤️👏🏼👍
Aww, thank you - That's very kind! ❤️❤️
Although we would probably pass out if we knew Madonna saw one of these! 😂
The angel of death giving her the “ Kiss of Death”
The video is based in a true story back the 70's in NY. Was a school teacher. A movie came out of the case called Finding mister Goodbar ... stunning cinematography and transitions of David Fincher also 💙
Her best music video imo - you are in for a treat here - David fincher is a genius 🥰
Definitely one of Madonna’s BEST videos! I love how her music and videos trigger so many different conversations and theories! ❤ I heard a few years back in a Madonna interview that she’d turned down the role of Catwoman in Batman Returns due to other commitments. Now watching it again, I wonder if that cat and the cat food scene 🤢 was any reference as giving major Selina Kyle vibes😂 Madonna unfortunately only performed this once on Saturday Night Live… the only other time I don’t want to spoil it for you 🤐 Can’t actually wait for The Girlie Show reaction… one of my fave tours ❤❤❤
Now that you mention it, that is very similar to scenes performed by Michelle Pfeiffer!!! Not the first time a cat has made an appearance in one of her videos, but that is an interesting point.
Very interesting about the Catwoman role and the cat scene in this video - Thank you for sharing that! ❤️❤️
The catwoman character in 1992 Batman Returns is inspired in Madonna, her look, her hair is just like Madonna Express Yourself video look. There’s an article about it.
BOTH LIVE BAD GIRL performances are awesome:
Into CELEBRARION TOUR with her adopted daughter in piano ...
Into SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE (killing into her live vocals) 🥳
Great song. Great music video. Great reaction.
Thank you! ❤️❤️
I love bad girl it's a different side of Madonna , beautiful song, thanks for the reaction from both of you great ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much! ❤️❤️
This is one of my favorites! Love the song so much! It’s like a short movie. You really feel what she’s going through and what the end result is going to be. This is a stellar reaction as always. ❤️❤️
Thank you! ❤️❤️
@@OurAnxiousReactions You’re welcome! 🙂🙃🙂
The storyline here reminds me of the 1977 book (& film, starring Diane Keaton) "Looking for Mr. Goodbar." It too was a cautionary tale about a professional woman leading a double life of one-night stands, etc.
Amazing video, her best cinematic video since papa don't preach
Some trivia about David Fincher, the director of this video: he also directed the videos for Express Yourself and Oh Father. He was originally set to shoot a making of / behind the scenes to accompany the HBO’s broadcast special for the Blonde Ambition tour, but he quit last minute and the project was handed over to Alek Kesheshian who convinced Madonna to turn it into what ended up becoming Truth or Dare.
David Fincher and Madonna were also rumored to be in a brief romantic relationship around the Like A Prayer era.
Thank you for sharing that background info with us! ❤️❤️
@@OurAnxiousReactions Thank you for what is probably one of the most sincere, intelligent and wholesome reaction content on UA-cam. Can't wait to watch your reaction to The Girlie Show, my favourite Madonna tour! 😍
Aww, you're very sweet. Thank you! ❤️❤️
A masterpiece. ♥️
You’re right, there’s a lot to take in in this video. You both have given such a wonderful review of this video, very perceptive. I think you picked up on quite a bit. I didn’t realize Christopher Walken was a guardian angel until he extinguished Madonna’s cigarette. 😆 I thought it was interesting that her name was Louise, because that’s Madonna‘s middle name. David Fincher was directing this video, and if you recall the video for Oh Father, you can clearly see he was also the Director on that video as well. I believe she also worked with him to do the Vogue video. You only have one live performance to select from, and that is from Saturday Night Live. Don’t expect too much, that is a tiny stage, she just stands there and sings the song.
However, you will see it performed live at the Celebration tour.
See you soon! Have a lovely evening. ♥️
Thank you so much! ❤️❤️
And yes, David Fincher's work with Madonna was just out of this world. Incredible! Can't believe we will see this song in person in a few months...
Have a great evening! ❤️
Must agree. One of the best videoclips I have ever seen. It tells a tale into a Very cinemátic way.
Song also amazing...
The video keep your atention from the begining till the Very end.
I'm pausing to write this. This is one of the best videos she's made. Christopher Walken, gah!!!! I'm trying to catch up since I just found you two yesterday. So..... not watching until I'm there. My fave album is coming up too!!! Hurrying, hurryuing!!!!!!
These ladies are excellent at reviewing Madonna‘s work. Enjoy.
@richardc8795 I'm Def enjoying so far. Makes me wish I'd had kids, especially a daughter, just to show her why her mom is such a balls to the wall chick. Madonna taught our generation to never be afraid to speak our minds. Now, before I forget, I have the Sex coffee table book. I can take pics of all images if there's any interest in them seeing it. Since they're in the midst of Erotica it might be a good time.
Welcome aboard our Madonna journey! ❤️❤️
It's interesting that no one has mentioned 2 things: 1) this was directed by visionary director David Fincher and 2) it was released alongside a little-seen/known film called Dangerous Game, which features a similarly broken/destructive character played by Madonna. It's worth checking out, if you can find it.
It's streams on tubi for free but with ads of course. Along with Body of Evidence. 😊
Thank you for sharing that with us! ❤️❤️
Exotica is Madonna's best album, hands down! There is not a bad song on it.
From the past reviews that I’ve seen on bad girl, this one is the best and you both got the storyline.
Other reviews on this are lost and don’t get the storyline concept.
Thank you! ❤️❤️
Just wait till you see it live on Celebration Tour ❤
Can't wait!! ❤️❤️
Hi I really enjoyed your thoughtful reaction to this video. The video is one of my personal favorites because of how cinematic and well done it is. Christopher Walken adds to the video. His screen pressence is very good.
You guys might want to react to Bad Girl from SNL It captures her at a particular time in her interesting career, and by coincidence it was reaired on NBC within the last year or two.
Anyway, tanks for all the work you put into reacting, and putting up with the crazy Madonna fans. 😂😂
Many of us enjoy what yo ou do, and we know you put a lot of energy into it. 🩵
Aww, thank you! That's so sweet of you to say. ❤️❤️
We just love meeting so many wonderful people through these reactions. ❤️
Yessssss. One of her best! what a masterpiece of film making, in the same league as "Oh Father", and "Like A Prayer", as one of her best videos of all time. And yes, one of the best music videos of all time too! Love the song too!
Great reaction ladies ⚡️
Thank you! ❤️❤️
the ending always moves me .. after her character is murdered she ends up with the angel Christopher Walken portrays. I imagine he plays the angel of death hence him giving her the kiss of death when she realizes she can see him
It’s unfortunate the song wasn’t a hit in America (charted at 36). I love Bad Girl! And the video is cinematic! If the song was a success, MTV would’ve nominated for Video of the Year.
Exactly - instead they care more about giving awards to REM and Aerosmith during this time period 🙄
They didnt even nominate it for anything or show it much. Probably too sophisticated for the top 40 stations ;)
Another great reaction. This is one of my all time favorite Madonna videos. You'll get a chance to see her perform this song at the Celebration Tour, definitely one of the highlights of the show. Too bad you didn't react to Deeper And Deeper from the Re-Invention Tour, it's way better than The Girlie Show version.
Thank you so much! ❤️❤️
Yes please react the reinvention tour deeper and deeper version. It’s totally different from the original. Nevertheless do not miss the firmly show version
@@FranklinDeLuna-wg8vo Don't they do the whole tours anyway? I understand it will come up in the journey anyway but for performances people prefered they react to tv performances and watch the concerts as a whole?
I must admit when I first saw this video for the first time without knowing anything about it, I thought it was a movie trailer of a romantic murder drama starring Madonna and Christopher Walken with a Madonna soundtrack. I didn’t appreciate it until much later in retrospect after realizing what Madonna achieved in this 6-minute music video for Bad Girl-and you two nailed it-this was a cinematic masterpiece of portraying and exploring the emotional, self-destructive spiral of a troubled love life. The plot was gripping, there was no dialogue except those glances, facial expressions and Madonna singing some lines of the song-but it conveyed the pathos, vulnerability of the character Madonna portrayed. You felt for her being trapped in this tragedy and hoping for a happier ending. This was in 1992 and Madonna was already a compelling actress, despite skeptics doubting her acting ability. Four years later in 1996 she would prove her doubters wrong when she won the Golden Gloves Best Actress for the film adaptation of the Evita musical. Really appreciate your very insightful reaction here.
Thank you so much! ❤️❤️
And love your thoughts regarding the compelling storyline of this video and Madonna's acting ability- Completely agree! We're always so grateful for your comments. ❤️
Emotional and Epic!
A beautiful song with a sad undertone brought together artistically by Madonna’s amazing tone. I was so pleased she revisited this on the celebration tour.
SNL live version is what I thought you should react to next.
Great reaction as always ❤❤ thank you both.
Aww, thank you! ❤️❤️
I love how you gals just get her videos. I've seen other people react to this video having no comprehension of Christopher's character or even caught on that he's her Guardian Angel/Angel of Death. That kiss he gives her at the end, always seem to me as the "kiss of death" before the deed is done. But again, you two seem to understand the whole idea of the video and what is going on here. Good going!! As for live performances, she's only performed it live on SNL in '93 (along with Fever) until Celebration Tour. I guess you could spoil yourself a little by finding some fan recording from the Celebration Tour (there are some good ones, even the audio isn't so great on them). Otherwise, I'd just stick to the SNL version. The same for Fever as she's only performed that on The Girlie Show as well which you'll be watching soon.
Thank you so much! ❤️❤️
And the "kiss of death" you described makes perfect sense. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on that. ❤️
I think I understand this song and video much better now than I did when it came out. I was just too young then I guess. 🙈 But yeah. I get what you're saying about it.
The live version of this in the new tour is beautiful and heartfelt ❤
Can't wait to see it in person! ❤️❤️
I absolutely love this song and video. He is her guardian angel watching her last couple days on earth until her murder.
Would have never guessed she put that song on new tour with her daughter playing piano and shes in a teddy
Great reaction as always! Really look forward to your videos! This Madonna video is very cinematic as you say. I always thought Christopher Walkens character was the grim reaper (death) looking for his next victim and like you say, through her destructive lifestyle she was the next on his list, finally giving her the kiss of death at the end of the video. There's always so much to gleen from Madonna's art!
SNL for the live video, but you will also see and hear a beautiful rendition of this song on The Celebration Tour! ❤
Aww, thank you so much! ❤️❤️
She actually had a movie released around the same time this song came out called Body Of Evidence which this music video slightly is similar too. I also think her “smoking too many cigarettes…” is her referencing sleeping with too many men. 🤷🏾♂️
Hi, I'm very attached to this video because it was a bit of my story. If you notice the door of the office where Madonna works, the name on the door is the real middle name of Madonna, which is Louise
Thank you for sharing that with us. ❤️❤️
So interesting that she used her middle name for the character!
I like how you interpreted this video, as being a warning to a self-destructive life. I never thought of it as a warning so it’s nice to hear your point of view on this. However I’ve always seen Christopher Walken as the grim reaper instead of her guardian Angel, as if he’s watching her every move and when the moment comes, he gives her the kiss of death, so she’s ready to go. Seeing him as a guardian Angel kinda changes the interpretation I have of this video and it sorta becomes lighter 😅 this video was directed by David Fincher, the same who directed Express Yourself, Oh Father and Vogue 😊
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on this! We love hearing different interpretations of the video (and Christopher Walken's character). Such great storytelling and artistry. ❤️❤️
I love your reacts S2 Perfect girls pretty
Aww, thank you so much! ❤️❤️
Ohh you guys have to react to the recent live version of this, she performs this song with her daughter Mercy
We're going to her concert in April, so we're trying not to see too much in advance. Bet it's incredible though! ❤️❤️
@@OurAnxiousReactions I hope you guys have sm fun!! Y’all will love it
One of her greatest videos (which is saying a lot, considering she is a master of the art form) but sadly this was largely overlooked and ignored....all because of the lingering backlash to the Sex book.
Besides this current tour, she's only performed it live once on Saturday Night Live.
Just be careful because SNL are notorious for protecting their copyright on clips from the show.
Thanks for the tip! ❤️❤️
This is one of the songs she sings on this tour, while her daughter plays the piano.
Can't wait to see it! ❤️❤️
One of her best videos.
I think you should watch her live performance from SNL. It’s gorgeous.
Emily, i flipping love you! 😂 You had the EXACT same reaction that I did to the cat food....uh, that's a hard pass for me. It's the only thing that broke my focus on the STUNNING video.
BTW, only 4 more to go and I'm caught up!!!! (PLEASE imagine me as Grover running around screaming this. That's what I see...)
😂😂
I believe Christopher Walken was the Angel of Death. He's been watching over her. Towards the end, when he kisses her, that was the kiss of death.
Hello Ladies,
This song and video is always at the top of music industry professionals as her best vocals. Although reviewers, who think they know better weren't that keen on the song. The story in the video is very sad. A lot of people didn't get it. Pfffft to them. Personally I believe Madonna's vocals are much better on her slower and ballad songs. After hrr extensive vocal training for Evita you can hear the difference in her voice. But that Diva "B" Patti Lupone trashed her on Watch what happens live. I despised her after her nasty, better than anyone, comments.
I like watching you, ladies. Please don't shorten the videos when you're watching them. It seems like you skip some parts of the videos. I'm not sure if you are doing that or youtube. Cheers. ;-)
Thank you! ❤️❤️
Whenever you see edits in the videos, it's due to copyright. We always try to upload in the original form, but UA-cam blocks certain videos for some reason (unless the content is altered).
It makes sense. Thank you for letting me know. You ladies are Awesome and I love your opinions when you watch the videos. Be well and keep up the good work ! ❤❤@@OurAnxiousReactions
❤️❤️
One of her best videos ever, although it's also complex to understand all the points. There are many videos of Madonna with a story, but don't know why this one seems more like a minifilm. What i don't get of the video is that she seems to agree with dying and letting herself be killed by the murderer. I don't know if it's because she's living a life she doesn't like and enters a state of self-destruction, or I even just thought that since Christopher Walken kisses her (possibly a kiss of death), she already decides to die because she knows she'll be better in a another life. Another version of the video is that Christopher Walken is her late husband and she is living an empty life since he left. Maybe that's why she later sees him, he gives her a kiss, and she decides to go to the other world to be with him. Although I don't see this version as very plausible because in the end they don't seem to act like a couple in love who reunite. What does seems to be quite true, is that Christopher is her guardian angel. Loved your reaction as always girls, you are doing a great job, kisses 😘😘😘
Aww, thank you so much! ❤️❤️😘
Love your thoughts on the storyline and the different explanations for her character's actions in this video. ❤️
I love that this video provokes thoughts and different anylsis of what happens. It's rare a music video does what many films achieve. Also i wonder if the newspaper Walken is reading about the rampage has anything to do with what happens.
@@Marc-zi5cq Yes, i also think it has something to do with the story, but later i think it's not much explicit and it's not shown very long or clearly, and I think it may be our imagination. I like that a video has so many interpretations because of the mystery, but at the same time it bothers me not knowing the truth haha
Love you guys! Would love to see you do a full Erotica Album reaction! There are some amazing songs and the album was overshadowed by the release of her SEX book! It’s well worth a full listen! When do you see the Celebration show? Bad Girl is an amazing part of the show!!!
Thank you - Sending much love to you too! ❤️❤️
We're seeing Celebration in April - Can't wait!
……. Yeah. ……..
I do believe the Angel of death is her deceased husband because the picture on her wall has the shape of his face. After his death, she goes in this spiral of decadence and then he finally comes to take her out of her spiritual misery and to be with him on "the other side".
❤️❤️
react bad girl from saturday night live is the only one
She's finally got rid of her debauched and unhappy life... that's why she's smiling to her murderer after the kiss of death from his guardian angel
