Just remember no more than 20 in of water fording. that lovely electric actuated rear differential will short out when you're traveling at 65 or 70 mph down the interstate. It's a lovely feature shared with Jeep.
That was the first thing I did. I bought it like this but if you follow my IG it has 35s on 18s. Which is as small as I can go due to the spindles on the lift.
Just seeing your comment. The trailboss is nice but I prefer the electronic on demand locker vs. the auto locker they put in the trailboss. Also the aftermarket world is very favorable to the F-150 because of the raptor. Not much for the Silverado.
Alot of the forums I read where guys actually went off road said they would experience failure with the G80. A few said they never had problems but with so many say they had blown them I wanted to stay away.
@@FrameRotPart of the tune I had on mine disabled it so it was always all 8 cylinders. Prior to that it had been engaged for 76k miles with no issues. I did another 50k miles on the tune that was great. Some guys say they had lifter issues or things like that but I never ran into anyone personally with those issues.
@@aspiringadventure how much is the tune to disable that? I'm looking at either a 2013 GMC Sierra 34,000 miles or 2014 Ford F-150 43,000 miles both 4x4. Trying to decide which to buy.
Almost unsubbed...almost 😁 Kidding, I love all trucks. Congrats on your new rig and keep the videos coming! My 2012 Silverado now has 65,000 miles and I'm itching to get my tax return lol! Leaning towards a 4" lift with 18" Methods and 35's. Considering a 6" lift but not sure I want to go that high...
It's all about angles. The 4" on mine was pretty harsh on the ball joints even with the aftermarket UCA. Most 6" lifts come with a new spindle making it a stock angle on the ball joint. Also the higher u go the better break-over angle you'll have. BDS is the only 4" kit that I know of the comes.with the spindles. Also 17 inch wheels will give you a more/cheaper tire options. Thanks for the support!
@@aspiringadventure great info thank you! 6" it is and 17" Methods. I know BDS is really good, but have you heard of Zone? They have a 6.5" lift for $1,000.
@@aspiringadventure thanks brother! PS: dont ever change your thumbnail...when you hit 100,000 subs and your F150 is decked out, people will ask, why do you have a white Silverado as your thumbnail lol 🤣 Only the 94 subs will know why 😁 Keep grinding, you'll get there!
Subscribed for the Chevy. If you get less than about 400k out of a GM LS truck you got a lemon. Lol Eaton G80 is good as long as you’re not running 35’s or larger and heavy off-roading. The reason GM doesn’t use those selectable electric lockers is because they get wet and malfunction. The only real good lockers are full time and suck on the road.
The LS motors are great but that transmission is a different story. As for the G80, all the reasons you listed is exactly what i do so that speaks for itself. I havent heard of "wet" issues with the electric lockers. But ill look into it. Mines been great for a year now.
@@aspiringadventure yeah you gotta get the transmission built. But I don’t think any auto from the factory will hold up to heavy off-roading. The electric and air lockers usually malfunction in mud/river crossings not rain on the road. Toyota offered electric lockers on the Tacoma in the late 90s.
@@trentweldyoutdoors7232 toyota puts an eletric rear locker on their newer tacomas as well its standard on the offroad package. And chevy does front and rear lockers on the colorado ZR2. Jeep rubicon as it as well. .
That Chevy was so nice. It will be missed
Yeah I miss it but man this new truck is sooooo roomy and comfortable.

Silicone the plug?
Electricity works under water anyhow. Starters and alternators do.
Just saying.
Get rid of the fancy wheels and the tires with 3" sidewalls. 35s on 16"
When aired down have a bigger footprint.

Sweet 👍👍
The Ram Power Wagon has Front and Rear Lockers, with the 6.4 v8 Hemi, not a Cummins sadly
Yes. I looked at getting one. But mpgs and weight was insane.
@@aspiringadventure like every full size gas v8. If you want decent MPG you get a diesel
Nice! How many miles were on this truck when you got it?
I got it with 36k I have 53k now.
What about the TRAILBOSS?? And you can get it with the 6.2!!

You said the Chevy doesn’t have a backup camera?
My Chevy did not. Alot of the 07-09s didnt have that stock option. 2011 it started becoming more popular.
