I get made fun of for playing Minecraft. My friends quickly assume I just play it to date blocky girls. I really don’t. I just have fun. I build the smallest things, that turned into something big that takes hours and hours. These days I barely play it, but this video made me want to go sit down my chair, clicking for hours in frustration.
I have a deep appreciation for imagination. I promote it anytime I can, so I'll say this. I don't play Minecraft but I think that kids and adults alike that play Minecraft are people that play it are important. Imagination leads to innovation and limits that are in a game like Minecraft lead to great imagination. People make fun of a lot of things they themselves don't understand and its them who show how truly stupid they are when they do. Keep that in mind. Play what you like. I'm 32 and I like Nintendo Labo because I came up with an idea similar to it as a kid... all the technology in Nintendo Labo has existed since the 90's so to see it be used on a mass scale filled me with joy and I was disheartened to see so many people make fun of it. Still Nintendo is making more of it so they believe in it apparently and that inspires me. So if you like Minecraft play it, create in it, and explore those limits that others make fun of. you are the one that wins in the end.
if you could render a space large enough then you could prolly make a playable minecraft on a computer inside minecraft. of course the screen in game would have to be huge! and the redstone would take years to create but I bet you could do it with some of the best programmers .
I recently went on my Minecraft account and I was blown away at how I felt. This was a game that has been a huge influence on my life. Logging on for the first time in 4 years was crazy. The game had changed so much but yet still had the same ultiment feel to it. The soundtrack brought back so many good memories. Building cities with my friends was amazing. Finding ways to create houses to survive in. It gave me so much inspiration to become an real life architect that I am considering it to be the career I want to be involved in. No matter how many people hate on it, it will always be one of the best parts of my childhood

Nightmare Potato, One of the easiest ways to do that is to host your own server. There are many inexpensive Minecraft server-hosting services. Some are even free and supported by ads. If you don't mind paying a little more for the convenience ($10 per month in total) Mojang offers a server hosting service itself. It has a lot of support and reliability, though some people dislike it because it's not as customizable as what you can get from independent server-hosting companies (and of course because it's more expensive). A better option might be to just find a small pre-existing server with a culture that you like. That way, you and your friends can make more friends. There are many different servers to choose from with very different cultures/norms. Many require you to submit an application and be approved by other members to make sure that you're a good fit before you're allowed on.
"Minecraft has bad graphics" that's the point.... its supposed to be a pixel based game... where there are pixels... like terraria... ya don't play old mario cause it has stunning graphics... you play it cause its fun.
The problem with that statement is that games like Terraria, or Dead Cells, or the End is Nigh have lower definition graphics as well, but can still look good. Simplifying it to Minecraft's point makes the game harder to play, worse creatively.
Andrew King luckily for the people who find Minecraft's 16x graphics unpleasant, there's a plethora of resource packs ranging from improved 16x, to 32x, 64x, all the way up to a few 512x ones... Not to mention theyre retexturing every block and item for the upcoming update (@JasperBoerstra on twitter) still going to be 16x, but much more visually pleasing

The game is good. The community isn't completely bad, its just young. Why is it young? Because older people get bored of the same thing over and over which is why most of us left.
I don't think so. I think that minecraft has two sides. On the one hand the pvp and arcade game servers which attracts the younger community. And on the other hand there's the building aspect which needs time and alot of creativity which attracts mostly elderly people. The fact that a lot of people hate minecraft is because of the younger community and that they're not creative enought to find a long-term activity in this game.

I'm always surprised how much X gets around. He has said himself that he often clicks on a video, likes it, then leaves because of lack of time, but the amount of different channels he does watch from time to time is very varied and it's always a surprise to see him comment.
it's really unfair how popular it has become to hate on Minecraft. It's such a beautiful, creative game. Most of the fun is playing different games online on servers though. How the play modes are engineered on servers is just as much an art form. Also, well-build maps are much easier to appreciate when you actually "do" something in them

I think that the entirety of redstone is considered more of the technical side of Minecraft. Like, you can do a lot of creative stuff with it, but it's mostly used to make contraptions and other sorts.
I agree Redstone Engineering is a form of Minecraft art that involves creativity and technical intelligence and that's why I'm training on becoming a Redstone engineer.

It's just that we get older and the game just kind of fades away. It's really sad because I had some of the best times of my life on this game and it has changed so much. It seems that a growing number of people have held the misconception that Minecraft is a game primarily for, and dominated by little kids. In fact, according to Microsoft the average Minecraft player is between 28 and 29 years old (source: NY Times Magazine article: "The Minecraft Generation").
And dont get me wrong, I like survival too, but not the spider-fighting part, more like working on projects, and small SMP's, not the ones with minigames but just a vanilla world with friends. After a few months we've got cool bases and end gear :-P
The reason Minecraft became something with a negative view from most gamers is the way the community treats the game. Many, many people (often kids) play multiplayer, on servers which have a limit to the things you can do in the game itself. Like for example gamemodes. I'm not saying that it's a bad thing but the point is that these things are what the current majority of the Minecraft community plays, while minecraft is meant to be a survival game, in which you can be creative with the default set of rules and tge indistinguishable artstyle of the game.
But that's the thing about minecraft, you can make anything you want. Especially since it's coded in java so anyone can be a game developer if they want.

You're forgetting that you can make a fully functioning computer in the game that is generated using another computer (ie how a computer generated a full replica of the Netherlands in minecraft). It would take years but you could actually make a functioning version of mine craft in the game.

Using command blocks, maybe. But since max render distance is 32 chunks, it is impossible to make a computer that can do much that will actually function. You could host it on a server and have dummy players spread out so more of the world could be processed, but think about this: That would be a computer simulating another computer, but not just with processes. Literally simulating multiple variables about every single transistor and every logic gate, which computers that run minecraft have at least hundreds of millions of.
Survival is boring if theres not more people around. If you get a group of NICE people (not the toxic people) and create games and competitions, it is a really fun time.

Let's be real here, Minecraft isn't, by itself, the best game in the world however it is highly customisable , allowing players to play it in different ways. Some have even used the in game electricity mechanics to build functioning computers and calculators from scratch. Not to mention the beautiful structures which take months to make. Some people have even recreated Hogwarts (search for that on youtube). Hating this game or loving this game mindlessly is stupid but there is a lot which we can learn from it and saying the opposite is short sighted. Thank you for this video.

Hardcore is just another version of Survival mode. Also, Adventure mode isn't really a playable mode without first having an adventure map to use it with.

My sister and I picked up Mincraft a couple of years ago; I, predictably, let it go and moved on, but she kept at it. She's been really getting into the creative building aspect of it, playing around with commands and mods and everything. At the risk of sounding like a suburban father smiling fondly around the handle of an ubiquitous fatherly pipe, I'm really, really proud of her.
I used to play Minecraft single player from 2009 until quite recently when I went on Multiplayer servers with Ts3 servers. There were so many toxic kids, I had to bear with them until July, when I was the top player in a minigame and kept getting roasted and called really nasty names (with swearwords, their voices were quite high pitched anyway) and I quit... I haven't returned to Minecraft since, but just go on single player worlds to create stuff... those 12 year olds really ruined the game for many people.

The problem with that statement is that games like Terraria, or Dead Cells, or the End is Nigh have lower definition graphics as well, but can still look good. Simplifying it to Minecraft's point makes the game harder to play, worse creatively.
Andrew King luckily for the people who find Minecraft's 16x graphics unpleasant, there's a plethora of resource packs ranging from improved 16x, to 32x, 64x, all the way up to a few 512x ones... Not to mention theyre retexturing every block and item for the upcoming update (@JasperBoerstra on twitter) still going to be 16x, but much more visually pleasing

I don't think so. I think that minecraft has two sides. On the one hand the pvp and arcade game servers which attracts the younger community. And on the other hand there's the building aspect which needs time and alot of creativity which attracts mostly elderly people. The fact that a lot of people hate minecraft is because of the younger community and that they're not creative enought to find a long-term activity in this game.

it's really unfair how popular it has become to hate on Minecraft. It's such a beautiful, creative game. Most of the fun is playing different games online on servers though. How the play modes are engineered on servers is just as much an art form. Also, well-build maps are much easier to appreciate when you actually "do" something in them

I used to play this game every single day with my friends. I think a lot of people believe that this game was ruined by little kids or something, but there were always little kids playing. It's just that we get older and the game just kind of fades away. It's really sad because I had some of the best times of my life on this game and it has changed so much. But it will always be one of the best video games ever made.

The reason Minecraft became something with a negative view from most gamers is the way the community treats the game. Many, many people (often kids) play multiplayer, on servers which have a limit to the things you can do in the game itself. Like for example gamemodes. I'm not saying that it's a bad thing but the point is that these things are what the current majority of the Minecraft community plays, while minecraft is meant to be a survival game, in which you can be creative with the default set of rules and tge indistinguishable artstyle of the game.

Using command blocks, maybe. But since max render distance is 32 chunks, it is impossible to make a computer that can do much that will actually function. You could host it on a server and have dummy players spread out so more of the world could be processed, but think about this:
That would be a computer simulating another computer, but not just with processes. Literally simulating multiple variables about every single transistor and every logic gate, which computers that run minecraft have at least hundreds of millions of.

Let's be real here, Minecraft isn't, by itself, the best game in the world however it is highly customisable , allowing players to play it in different ways. Some have even used the in game electricity mechanics to build functioning computers and calculators from scratch. Not to mention the beautiful structures which take months to make. Some people have even recreated Hogwarts (search for that on youtube). Hating this game or loving this game mindlessly is stupid but there is a lot which we can learn from it and saying the opposite is short sighted. Thank you for this video.

My sister and I picked up Mincraft a couple of years ago; I, predictably, let it go and moved on, but she kept at it. She's been really getting into the creative building aspect of it, playing around with commands and mods and everything. At the risk of sounding like a suburban father smiling fondly around the handle of an ubiquitous fatherly pipe, I'm really, really proud of her.

I used to play Minecraft single player from 2009 until quite recently when I went on Multiplayer servers with Ts3 servers. There were so many toxic kids, I had to bear with them until July, when I was the top player in a minigame and kept getting roasted and called really nasty names (with swearwords, their voices were quite high pitched anyway) and I quit... I haven't returned to Minecraft since, but just go on single player worlds to create stuff... those 12 year olds really ruined the game for many people.
Hey man, I understand that the game has gotten really toxic but try to ignore those kids. After school they just go play minecraft until 10pm. Don't let them bring you down and have fun when you're playing it
