- After leaving ABC, Stephen J Cannell arrived at NBC where he was given his first assignment: The A-Team. Helped by a post-SuperBowl debut the show was ratings hit for three seasons. The erosion started in season four, and they tried to shake up the format in season five by having the team captured only to be forced into working for a general at the CIA. It didn't help and the season ended prematurely with only 13 episodes. The theme, by Mike Post and Pete Carpenter, is one of their best-remembered main titles. You'll see the first and fourth season openings, and the rarely-heard stereo version of season five, plus an end credits roll. Just remember, if you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire... the A-Team.

THE A-TEAM was created by writers/producers Stephen J. Cannell and Frank Lupo at the behest of Brandon Tartikoff, NBC's Entertainment president. Cannell was fired from ABC in the early 1980s, after failing to produce a hit primetime show for the network, and was hired by NBC; his first project was "The A-Team." Brandon Tartikoff pitched the series to Cannell as a combination of THE DIRTY DOZEN, MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE, THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN, MAD MAX, and HILL STREET BLUES, with Mr. T. driving the car.
It's amazing the amount of bullets that went flying through this series without a single death 😂

The show is the combination of both MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE, THE DIRTY DOZEN, THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN, MAD MAX, HILL STREET BLUES, with Mr. T driving the car.
This is really my favorite TV show for a long time but it's really interesting and I really like it so much I miss it 0:52

One of my all time favorites (especially the season 5 theme), but its big screen version was off the wall nuts with action!
like it suppose to be remember the tv series ? bullets go flying people crawl out of jumped wrecked cars unscathed and only 1 or 2 people died
When I was about 10, when the A-Team was first shown in the UK, I do remember wondering if the "Los Angeles Underground" was something like the London Underground. Even though there were never any scenes with the team in subway stations (as they would be called in America - which I also knew!), I don't think the truth clicked for about three years. "Oh, riiiight. Hmm."
I've never told anyone that before. No idea why I would want to share it with complete strangers now, but there it is.
I knew used Airwolf in a Miami Vice episode I forgot the may have used the “Lady” in the A-Team as well look at the 5:00 minute mark..
The epitome of the "High Concept": Brandon Tartikoff told Stephen Cannell to create, "The Dirty Dozen, Mission Impossible, The Magnificent Seven, Mad Max and Hill Street Blues all in one with Mr. T driving the car."

Season 4: Tia Carerre really looked NICE in the season finale.
Season 5: How to destroy a really good thing.
They destroyed it in the third. Barely a good episode that year. The sheer quality of writing from the first two was gone. Just great action and nothing more. Even the music became bland and unmemorable. How to kill a hit in record time.

Yes, The A-Team was NBC's Biggest Hit for 2 straight years as it was in the Nielsen Ratings Top 10 for 3 straight seasons during the 1st half of the 80's, during Season 3, The Cosby Show took over and became NBC's Most Successful Hit for 6 straight seasons and by Season 4, The A-Team dropped to #30 thanks to competition from 2 of abc's Biggest Hit Sitcoms of the 2nd half of the 80's in Who's the Boss? and the debuting Growing Pains and the Final Season was given the Friday Night Time Slot against Scarecrow and Mrs. King which doomed them, even the late Robert Vaughn The Man From U.N.C.L.E. himself said it himself that no, he didn't save the show
Plus, HUNTER with Fred Dryer & Stepfanie Kramer got higher ratings than The A-Team in the Nielsen Ratings

I desperately an actual score album from this show, I was disappointed when the album that came out on Silva Screen was a collection of rerecordings under "Daniel Caine"'s baton. Not, of course as disappointed as we were with the movie and the later episodes.
There was a very long version for the end titles in season two's "When You Comin' Back, Range Ryder?"

Never watched it. Don't think I missed anything except Post & Carpenter's music.
You missed plenty in the first two years. After that...mostly stunts. The odd great moment.
