      Yes.
Upon investigation, it looks like Mick's going to Fishman and ESP.
I'm not a Slipknot fan, so I haven't paid any attention.
Didn't like the original Blackouts bridge, which sounded like an active Duncan Distortion, but the EMTY bridge goes some way to fixing things I didn't like about the 81 while still keeping the output, attack and tight bass the 81 is known for.

Oh, I remember this model. It was very short lived. These came out just before Mille switched from Jackson to ESP, which I found kinda odd at the time. He'd been with Jackson since the very beginning.

I agree a little bit on the Strat neck joint, I think they're underrated and overhated.
Some guitars that have them feel so wrong when you don't have them. I can't imagine an 80s hot rod guitar like a Charvel or a Kramer without at least a metal plate XD
and also as someone who also doesn't like EMGs, I gotta say the EMG and the Marshall are pure Thrash if I've ever heard some :D

Personally, I love Jacksons and neck-thru body guitars in general. I currently own a 2009 Jackson SL3MG Soloist in amber sunburst. It was one of the last Jacksons to be made in Japan before they shifted their overseas production to Indonesia. Yes, it originally came with EMGs, but I’ve long since swapped them out. Been playing for 27 years and it’s one of the best guitars I’ve ever owned. Another gem among Jacksons (if you can find one) is the SL2H MAHQ Soloist in what I think was called burnt cherry sunburst if I remember correctly. It was a mahogany neck-thru with mahogany wings, quilted maple top with matching headstock overlay, made in USA and came stock from the factory with an original Floyd Rose and Seymour Duncans.

haha i remember the press tour for this one back then in metal hammer or something. I distinctly remember how it was one of the first mid priced signature guitars with attractive specs (most other sigs back then being either premium guitars or total budget crap). I even remember distinctly Mille Petrozza making a point about the guitar having only one PU to save on price so to give aspiring thrash metal guitarists the best bang for buck.
    Always found this sick, congrats.

      EMG's have their uses.
I'm not keen on most of their offerings, but the SA & SAV are great alternatives to traditional single coils if you want a bit more power and a different frequency response, and the 60A (alnico variant) makes for an interesting neck humbucker if you run it on 18v for better dynamics and less mush.

      @@jamesmarkham7489
It's used because it's lightweight, cheap, stable and available.
It has nothing to do with "tone" and everything to do with cost and marketing.
Fender famously chose whatever they could get cheap, but had the physical properties that they needed to efficiently build a durable electric guitar, so they chose American maple for its strength as a neck material and alder for the body as they were cheap, easily available and neither required the time and expense of filling an open grain before paint.
With far Eastern mass production, you're might not even be getting what it says on the tin, and instead get an Asian equivalent for the exact same reasons Fender went with what they did.
If you sand the paint off many a mass production Asian made guitar you'll see that it's often a multi piece mishmash of woods covered by a veneer to make it look like it's what the marketing claims.

Sweet! I can only agree on the EMG81. And the bridge might become problematic. I have seen two of those FR Specials fail. One was a friend's guitar. The other on a brandnew Jackson Chris Broderick signature in the store. The material is inferior. I had wanted to buy that guitar but went with an LTD on that occasion. Still Korean made and came with an original FR. Had Jackson chosen to use the FR 1000 series that would have been another thing. It's material is identical to the original FR, except the thread machining, which is notable when turning the fine tuners being less smooth.
And with a little investment that would be going from a sweet axe to an absolute killer axe. Won't deny I'm a bit jealous... 😇
