Big props to you Rick for that 150 mile walk for prostate cancer. I'm battling it and it spread to my pelvis and lower back. You're giving people faith in humanity again. Good man! 👍
Just saw this comment my man. Hope all is going well for you and your family. Make sure to reach out to loved ones. You are not, and you are never alone. Much love
You have to get in the zone, relax, breath, see the shot in your mind before hitting it. It's hard to stay there when a round takes 5 or 6 hours to play but you only need to do it when hitting the shot. I'm 64 started playing when I was 7, I play my best when I'm aggressive and relaxed, hit the ball go get the ball and not be too concerned about much else.
@@Pulse2AM I’m only 22, but have been playing for roughly 10 years. The biggest struggle I’ve been dealing with now is that I’m concerned about keeping up with the group in front like you should be, but in a slow round I don’t take enough time on lining up putts even though I have all the time in the world
@@ryanhnatowich1085 Do you have a pre-shot routine? Mine is take one or two practice swings to get a feel for the lay of the land, stand behind the ball and pick my target, what kind of shot I want to hit, visualize it, then step up and execute. Putting is not much different, I don't read from the side, the back then the other side only from behind the ball looking at the hole. Local knowledge helps though if you play the same course a lot you get that knowledge. Just love this series.... its the best one on YT. Love Guy's celebrations in the back ground as well. I feel tour pro's caddies should be more like Guy !!
This was maybe one of my favorite #Break75 videos this year, I really enjoyed watching the front 9 holes but i also appreciated that, despite several difficult holes back-to-back, you were able to maintain a positive attitude and good vibes. Great video, great golf!
Love your videos mate. You are single handedly the reason I care about golf again, respect the living hell out of you for showing us equally all the good with the bad along the way. Immense for growing the sport, cheers on your future endeavors
After the first 11 holes I was like “I’m so excited to get out and play some golf!” After the end I thought “mmm, maybe I’ll just go to the range for a bit.”
The editing is getting so good on these videos!! Great round on a tough course. Your game is improving each week. Keep the videos coming. I sooooo look forward to them every Friday.
The difference in Rick's attitude from the first couple of episodes compared to the last 2 episodes is night and day. Love to see him take the good with the bad and simply enjoy the game of golf.
What's helpful is watching you handle those tough shots and trying your best to shake of the errant shot. For someone as skilled as you, you handle tough holes with such humility. What an admirable quality. Well done, Rick.
Rick, your recovery game on the last 5 holes (ignoring the first bunker shot on 18) was absolutely brilliant. Watching your videos have made me a much better player and I’m sure it’s done the same for many other golfers.Keep up the good work!

Rick the best golf ive seen you play in ages brilliant and almost an hole in 1. The slice across the green was just a bad shot and the bunker and a plugged ball was so difficult but you played really well loved it,
After the front 9 I was rooting for you to shoot your best score, I definitely think the break in play changed the tide of your game. It's coming together though, the extra practicing is paying off.
Been getting into golf here at 23 years old been trying to go on weekends as much as I can just need to get my own clubs tired of borrowing clubs from the course but I couldn't tell you how many of your videos have helped me improve my game by far my favorite person to watch on UA-cam keep it up brother
Well played Rick, golf always amazes me. Still can’t believe you didn’t chip out sideways on the 18th, we’ve all done it in the heat of the moment we make bad decisions when watching it at home I was literally shouting at the phone “take your medicine” also shows how a break in concentration and momentum can make you lose your rhythm. You were literally on fire 🔥 until the halfway house. Again I’ve been there so many times but watching someone do it on film gives it more impact and will make me more aware of my decisions in future rounds
You should giveaway your other 'slot' in the Break75 series to viewers rather than just playing with Guy every time. Would add something a bit different to see what other golfers would put as their target and also incentivise more people to watch and interact in the videos!
The cinematic quality of your videos are really entertaining Rick, even if you don't like or play golf I could see people enjoying these. Love to see it pal.

Rick, thanks for keeping your teaching techniques simple and to the point. You’ve helped me learn so much, and I’m enjoying the game more because of it. Thanks again.
Well Rick you have inspired me. An old friend and avid golfer was visiting Banff on business and I invited him to 18 holes at Brewsters Kananaskis golf course near Canmore, Alberta. This is my first round for at least five years and my first full 18 for a few years longer than that. So I dug my rusty Powerbilt Fuzzy Zoeller set with my $65 Spalding Titantium driver out of the garage (anyone seen my golf shoes?) and proceeded on what promised to be a rainy day down the TransCanada highway to the course. Now this course is full of narrow fairways with gorse and pines on either side, very small greens and because this course is where it is, bears are a legitimate hazard. Fortunately for us both the rain and Paddington's evil big brothers stayed away that day and we were treated to a brilliant walk through mountain vistas in a lovely 20 degree day. The player's hint for this course is bring plenty of used balls, because you're going to be missing a few by the time you are done. If you are lucky like us, you might find a few more than you lose. The course forgives the short-but-accurate player and mercilessly punishes anyone else. So how did I do? I shot a 120...which I was actually happy with. Okay so Tiger has nothing to fear from me but that really wasn't the point. I was able to spend a brilliant day with an old friend in beautiful surroundings playing the game that he loved and I was renewing my passion for. So yeah, I've ordered a new set of clubs (cheaper entry level but still offering me a +1 length for my 6'3" altitude and a stiff shaft that I can develop some club head speed into), planning a Costco trip for some of those cheap but decent balls ( after I use up the balls I found at Brewsters) and waylaying my 30 year-old youngest to come spend time on the links with dear old Dad. And this is all your fault, Rick. If I hadn't watched your videos I would still be spending my Saturdays watching Stranger Things and slowly moldering on the couch. You twat! Look what you've done!😁
Rick you’ve improved dramatically over the series just in consistency and especially the short game. Eliminate the one or two bad holes in the round and you’d be level par or better! Trending the right way!
I dont know where to start with Rick, i used to play golf (very badly) 6 years ago. Had all the gear and very little idea. Had to work nights and gave up the game. Recently started working days again and suddenly came across Ricks videos. Now without even picking up a club, the videos instantly made me want to take it up again, so i did! Borrowing some clubs from a friend 2 weeks ago, using the tips from Rick and in the two rounds that i have had on a 9 hole, i have gone from scoring 53 down to 45 in just 2 games. My driving on the range has significantly improved and after 2 games i am a better golfer now than i have ever been. I have gone out and bought some cheapy irons and have to say after taking them on the range last night i am pleasantly suprised not only with the clubs but with myself, as i say, i am a much better golfer now than i ever was and that is all down to Ricks videos so thank you!
It's funny I got paired with these 2 elderly ladies this morning and while I was striking the ball good the first few holes my short game was atrocious. Anyway the one lady goes "Do you take lessons, if not I think they can really help you, I can give you the card to my instructor?" and I said something to the effect of "no but I definitely could use them, I get most of my instruction from youtube" and she immediately asked "Do you follow Rick Shiels?" I of course said yes and we chatted a bit about your videos. For not playing that well it was a real enjoyable round of golf.

Jane! Literally the sweetest. Lol great work guys!
Great opening 9. Back side? Well...how about a break 80 with Guy? Thanks for the video mates. 🍻✌🏻⛳
Putting aside the 2 bad holes thats some of the best golf we have seen you play all year rick
Man those greens didnt wanna bite anything. Tough golf like that great video bois!!!
