Lovely viola concerto, and the finest one written that I know of since Rubbra’s viola concert from over sixty years ago! “Happiness is two kinds of ice cream...”
Hello! Wow! Beautiful concerto! Thanks for the sharing! The violist has a wonderfull sound and is very beautiful!!! Friendship and greetings from France!
Does anyone know anything about the opening melody of the second movement? I've been watching a Korean drama ( When the Camellia Blooms) and in the background of (at least) the third episode that melody was playing with different instrumentation, so I wondered whether it's a folk melody that Gong incorporated.
This is serious stuff. The first composer I've heard come out of China whose music doesn't sound like what you hear in the background of a Chinese restaurant. A fantastic composition. As much as I enjoy modern/contemporary music, this is a remarkable achievement written by one so young. However, I think the soloist struggles in the quicker sections, rhythmically her bowing isn't quite right and in consequence doesn't quite get the sound a more accomplished player would achieve. But in the slow passages she is superb.
Yet another disgusting and frankly racist comment from you, you should be ashamed of yourself. This is a very good piece in its own right, but there are so many Chinese composers who have written stirring and inimitable music - Zhu Jianer, Chen Qigang, Wenchen Qin, Chen Yi, Zhou Long, Wang Xilin, Bright Sheng, Chou Wen-chung...yet you again resort to cultural stereotypes. Very, very sad.
crap is writing a negative comment in a youtube video of a project where so many people put their work and soul. The concert have so many nice moments and if it was crap this amazing orchestra will not be performing it. Personally if I dont like something in a video I just hit the "next" button.

By far the greatest new concerto I have heard in years!
An extraordinary and eclectic piece of music. Beautifully performed as well. Hope to hear more from the composer and the violist.
I. Moderato: 1:09
II. Andante: 12:15
III. Adagio: 22:43
Totally fond of this concerto : to me, the quitenscence of occidental music synthetised by an oriental man.
Terrific!
I DO LOVE IT. :D
WOW! a NEW masterpiece! "Hauntingly beautiful..." as a friend of mine said....there are no words for its beauty.
Uma obra belíssima, uma grande orquestra, uma violista de uma qualidade sem reparos.

Thank you too and best wishes from the SPO!
You're welcome!🙇 Best wishes for you too.♥
My birthday gift in 2017.
Hovhaness music always reminds me flute sound with viola solo.
Not quite sure what this has to do with this concerto. I really can't hear any connection with this music and that of Alan Hovhaness.
Does anyone know where I can buy the viola part for this? I can only seem to find the full score online, but I would love to learn it!
love it bro! z
This is fucking amazing.
Molto, ma molto originale ! ! !

Bravo! Wonderful piece!
Brazilian greetings
Where can I find the sheet music for this?
Me recuerda a la música de Fleta Pascual, un violista español
Wow this piece is amazing, but it was very unsettling when she got to the part where she purposely did zero vibrato, it felt...wrong
It's a very beautiful piece! Where can I get the sheet music?

i am surprised how accessible this is. Perhaps targeted to the chinese audience?
The concerto is crap but the soloist is wonderful with an amazing sounding viola.
Crap compared to what? A pretty sweeping statement!
The 2nd movement is amazing
