I dont think its dementia. considering they're kids, and they never mention shed before, only calling him "that guy". I think a more logical statement is that they beat up the wrong guy.
add-on to this: noobador likely told them they got the wrong guy, and while blue listened and realized they made a big mistake, red was still being himself and didn't really pay attention.
