- Woodland Camping Washout...."It's like a SWAMP out there"
Semi Wild camping at Candy Corner Bushcraft Wild Camping Experience. A great evening cooking and sitting around the campfire. Next morning though heavy rain and the camp was a washout.

Very kind, thanks Paul.
Great meeting you Paul, a real gent. Looks like you had a private lake installed overnight!
Good meeting you mate. How did the tent hold up?
@@PaulMessner Kept me nice and dry thanks, held up great! Which is just as well with this weather...
Just subbed mate, I'm number 589 I believe. I'll get stuck into your vids tomorrow.
Welcome to candy corner Paul. We eat better in the woods than we do at home. Next time give me a bit more notice lol. Was great to meet u and enjoy a few beers 🍺.
Cheers Pottsy
Loved this one Paul. Enjoy your natural and (deceptively) easy going screen style. I particularly liked your interaction with others. I know its your gig but including other interesting people in your vids is a good way to go and potentially opens up story opportunities. Many thanks for informative, gentle, no axe to grind, and very entertaining content.
Least you picked a hammock, it’d been like a paddling pool in a tent 😂
‘Perfect conditions for being in the woods’😂
Nice to meet you mate, thanks for featuring the shelter ✌️💚
You too Dan. Keep up the great work and look forward to seeing what else you’ve built next time I come.
Enjoyed watching this one! Cheers!
Now that looks like a proper pork pie no messing around there
Thanks Paul, I love this kind of camping. 😃
Good video that. Nice to see some bush crafting. That steak looked 👍🏻. Well done for dealing with all weathers. If every day was sunny there wouldn’t be any contrast of experiences. Memorable I’m sure! Atb. Gav
No vegetables were hurt during the recording of this video 😂
We have an 'almost wild' campsite just like this near me and its great! I haven't been in a while and now I want to!
There's a village called Usher Moor, not far from where I live in Durham, and it's overrun with wild peacocks-literally hundreds of them.
Would you look at that snap! Mouth watering, and bloody starving 🤣👍🏼
Nice setup there.
Cheers,
Gary B
Flat iron is my go-to steak cut
We could use some of that rain!! Dry as a bone here in southern Indiana. Like your videos. Tell your wife her artwork I saw on one of your videos looked pretty cool.👍
Great video Paul that's British weather
More bushcraft camps ❤
Wife and I subscribed to @chrismoutdoors channel too!! Nice to meet you Chris! If Paul recommends you, you’re a great bloke!! I always do what Pauly says!!!!
😂🤣😂
Thanks so much! Nice to meet you too.
Great video Paul and that was a scran and a half you had there!!!
Paul is so sweet how he said thank you about 10 times. You can see he’s feeling really spoilt and happy with his dinner!
Manners maketh the man 😊
@@PaulMessner indeed!! ☺️
Jeez! I've got the meat sweats just watching you! Tomorrows youtube video ...the constipation Vlog!
15:12 - Bakewell Tarp 👍🏻
So much for summer...
Nice to see you doing a hammock camp again Paul - it's been a while. Pity about the rain - it's becoming a VERY wet year! Bet you're glad you were only yards from the car. 😊
Looks like a canny place for a safe night out for a first time wildcamper you were well feed pity about the rain atvb Jimmy 😎😎👍👍
What in the holy shit is this summer weather, honestly wtf .
😉
It’s a joke, and to top it off i got the Flu !
Good ol jetstream
Off to Lane Pool Reserve WA soon. Winter here, so expecting English Summer....
Was out in it last night myself. Soggy is an understatement! ⛈
Dailies for a month is a nice experiment….. but don’t burn out…. either yourself or the audience.
Great video! Would be good to see more bushcraft along with the normal stuff. Keep up the good work!
I really enjoyed this. 😊 I love going to places like this, getting the fire on and doing the caveman diet! Might book here with my hot tent and give it a go!
Good video Paul. You also reminded me of why alcohol stoves can be bad idea in some instances. Keep up good work.
Proper uk camping! Love it 😊
Meat eaters paradise. Who needs Veg😊
All good. Interesting camping and eating with others. Enjoy some different takes on the "outdoor" experience. Simon, A bloke in the woods, Andy, and Mark. MDM all share a camp and make their own bids.
With the detailed Met office weather forecasts available these days, there's no excuse for not being fully aware of the extent of any expected rain.
I won't tell Jo if you buy an underbag for your hammock...
Great video Paul but I’m hungry now😊
Any chance you can make a “budget” into to bush craft essentials video Paul?
The great British summer can't beat it eh?!!
What summer ?
Friendly little place for an overnight camp where you can relax and enjoy the fire 🔥, shame about the rain, like to take my grandson there 👍
Would highly recommend it. Safe place to relax and enjoy.
POTTSY!!!!! 😂😂
Face for radio ! Should get yourself down south for a night Mr W!
Probably needed a wider splitting maul instead of an axe to do a chop-thru split.
That pork pie looked fantastic!
It was.
I think I might have been to his camp, did it use to have a tarp made from a parachute over the camp fire?
Paul... any chance of you reviewing the new Trangia "gas burner Storm" (gb77)..? An update of the older one, made in Sweden with an environmentally friendly profile of available spares etc. New shape on the regulator indicates it should be usable with an inverted cannister....but is it???
Great to see you still made a hot brew next morning. Some would have bailed straight to car and home. You've not camped properly without that morning brew in my opinion.
Looks like the hammock was a good call. You'd have needed a paddle had you been in a tent.
That’s what I thought 😂
I must one day pluck up the courage to camp in a wood
Chris has a great channel, very funny too.
In the UK rain is always part of the plan lol
Subscribed to Chris’s channel. 👍
I watched you pack everything and it seems you forgot your scuba suit. What a wet mess. All of those steaks looked delicious . I'm Staving for one. 🐄🐮
just got back from camping in edale
lovely weather one day. wash out the next😂
Bit bonkers isn't it
Weather manipulation. HAARP
That was a nice change up, good to see you back in the woods again.
The problem is that you need to sharpen the axe ,Mate !
Makes You look like a rooke 😢
You struck the stump RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE
should have split like a walnut !
Mike.
Hi yeah the moors are awful where I am water logged everywhere
Great video I’d die for a pork pie like that looks gorgeous
.... Now that was a video for UA-cam... Nice camp & cook with good friends , new and old ... Stay Safe ...
Worth it for those steaks. Bloody hell 🤤
English weather .. doesn’t it know it summer time
Living like peasants but eating like kings 🤴
Near raw steak that first one...not for me but each to their own. My favourite camp meal is a chicken curry.
👋🏼
Are u in shrek's swamp 😅.
Split in line with the knots, not across them.
Bet you were glad you chose to go with a hammock.
How did the chap with the tomahawk steak get on - did he have to abandon his tent dueing the night..?
Shame about the weather, but the grub looked top drawer.
I managed to somehow pick a dry spot, so I wasn't washed away overnight thankfully!
@@chrismoutdoors Great to hear Chris - and I hope your massive steak was as good as it looked... 👍
@@MuddyDuck... it was brilliant thanks mate! Real treat
😂👍👍👍👍😀😀😀😀👍👍👍👍😀😀
I must admit Candy Corner is a great alternative to the wood I have permission to camp in. That scran looked on par with some of the stuff I've knocked up in my camp kitchen, but I tend to do meals in the dutch oven or the cast iron skillet. You really need to get yourself an underquilt, makes things so much more enjoyable. Going to have to try pork pie with a bit of black dag.
I’ve had a couple of underquilts mate. I had fully specked out dutchware hammock but got rid as I much prefer the tent. Don’t think I’ll be getting any more hammock gear. The Dutch oven is a great. Had many a great chilli or stew in those.
Bat fastards
harsh but fair 😂
Incredibly accurate 😂 wouldn’t have it any other way !
Reach out and I can teach you a better way to set up your hammock.. You can lose those horrible loop straps and have a much more versatile setup.
I’ve had other hammocks and hardwear including whoopie slings, buckles etc. I got rid of all my hammock gear as I much prefer a tent or bivi. This is an old setup that does a job. Not the best but I’m not getting any more hammock gear 😂. But thank you 🙏
@@PaulMessner You don't have to buy any fancy gear. Just get 2 lengths of rock climbing webbing from Amazon or a climbing store and use a truckers hitch setup to have a fully adjustable line for a more comrtable setup. I use that with my ENO hammock I have had since 2007 for camping, days out in the park when I just want to relax in the wild on a walk, or at home. The webbing can even be used for other things so it's not a one use item. You can also use insulation from the hardware store to make a custom fit insulation layer for under you that's more comfortable and warmer and cheaper than an underquilt except for the coldest conditions.
" where your car is literally 30 meters away"
Might as well stay in the back garden.
Dopey stove for the conditions..
Weather forecast...nah! We know better.
Buddy its slowly but steadily getting a bit much with the vids… youre bo tik tokker. Quality over quantity
Bit of a dig
Paul can’t win 😂!!!. People moan about the lack of camping vids, some individuals ask for hammock camping. Paul releases this and jobs a good un. But no, he still gets grief! @paulmessner we demand a refund ……. Bugger, I’ve forgotten that you provide quality videos and entertainment for free….
What a plonker... dont watch them then, it literally is that simple.
Paul, Im loving the change up, whether for good, or not.
Don't have to watch, just skip the video. The people that enjoy them are happy with the frequency.
❤❤ best way to camp brother oh if anyone fancies helping out new UA-camr I've put trailer vid up getting no views or likes I must be boring Stormy rainy camps are best and thunderstorms am hoping do few vids in these weathers
