And I love how he has his coat collar turned up. He's like, making a subconscious Sherlock reference
Did anybody notice how, under his breath, Ben murmured : "that made no sense at all" at 42:56 ? This man formulates his sentences so well, and chooses his words so carefully, yet he never gives credit to himself for doing so.. don't worry Ben, it did make sense, and we appreciate your lovely constructed sentences :) x
I am a BenAddict. I love him. I have recently watched one of the movies he has performed brilliantly in and lived to tell the tale. Here is the link. Please do check it out. Thank you.
thesceneriesoflife.blogspot.com/2020/06/the-imitation-game.html
he did the same thing on and off throughout the whole interview. Also saying that he talked too much and bored everybody
I adore his hair this way.
me too!
The List of reasons why Benedict is just amazing and perfect gets longer with every Interview I watch. Since I watched Sherlock I wanted to see every Interview he's in on UA-cam, because he amazed me so much as an actor. After watching the Interviews he amazed me even more as a person. I can't explain how fascinated I am about how many talents this guy has.
Just look at this wonderful human being:
He's so talented as an actor, he really feels into the characters he plays.
He's also very talented in Imitations of other actors. I love what he can do with his voice.
And that voice by the way, is the best thing I've ever heard. Combined with that British accent.
He's incredibly funny and humorous.
He's smart and classy. The way he talks and articulates amazes me every single time.
And he's a real conversationalist. I would love to just chat with him about anything.
He's so charming and charismatic and thoughtful.
He's so kind and so polite. I mean, in so many Interviews where the Interviewer thank him for the Interview he says „my pleasure“. So cute. Also he always defends his fans. Everytime it comes to the word „Cumberbitches“ he says how unlikely to the name his fans are. That they are great and supportive. And these are just 2 of many examples.
He's such an incredibly nice and humble and down-to-earth guy, compared to other celebrities.
On "Setlock" he just goes to his fans, talks to them and even sings happy birthday to one of his fans.
Like how cute is this. He's just adorable.
But soo manly too. Handsome and sexy. Gosh.
I can't even tell how much I adore Benedict Cumberbatch.
And I love this Name too btw. Ugh, Pure Perfection.
...😐😐😐😂 why was this even recommended to me? I didn't know he was this big of a sensaiton. I mean, there isn't a harsh word out there when it comes to Benedict Cucumberbatch :p
+WildEv Thing2003 well, there's no reason for harsh words :D I can't think of one thing that would make him a bad person
chaleen1712
wow felt that on a spiritual level
Well said. Benedict Cumberbatch is my favorite actor for all those reasons you said.
I wouldn't be able to watch any other version of Sherlock Holmes after this
Yup!
I know right
So true, he is the best for this role
Benedict seems like a geniunely classsy guy: eloquent, humble, intelligent, and always well-dressed be it casual (like in this Q&A panel) or on talk shows. Sure, I'd imagine he may get tired of the same questions from fans - he IS human, after all - but to handle it so well when we see so much bad, bratty behavior from certain celebs is quite refreshing. And I can't help but be mesmerized by his looks and his voice! Would LOVE to meet him someday. :-)
I agree
YES
TakersMissy yes yes
Me too.
Agreed! :)
How fun would it be if Benedict came on the stage and while the woman on the far left was saying calm down he just yelled WASSUP MY CUMBERBITCHES
Would be funny but he does not like the term "CumberBitches" He likes the term "CumberPeople" more. Just saying :P
hue yuong 😂😂😂😂
his voice is so legendary!
"I read machiavelli for fun" - "we dont want to talk about your problems" my eyes are hearts
This was so awesome to watch.
I love how Benedict says 'Obviously' just as much as Sherlock does.
i wish i had some smart and intelectual comment about the show and actors and writers and this entire interview, but i just can't go any further from mentioning how sweet, adorable, humourus, kind and down-to-earth is Benedict Cumberbatch. well, he just is.
Ben flips his coat collar up, just like Sherlock! And of course they both have amazing cheekbones!
I love Ben's hair
Kiameri it's a bit khan like
"Obvious, this is so obvious." Did Benedict get all Sherlock on us? XD 27:39 - 27:40
ikr 😂😂
Andrew Scott "Moriarty" was fantastic in the show. I would say equally as good or better than Sherlock. Between him and Sherlock...they make that show. Love it!
While I agree Cumberbatch is phenomenal, his character has a bit of a monotone in expression, while Moriarty is more expressive. They both play awesome, intelligent characters. Just my thoughts. :)
bctopper It's the contrast they makes them work so well, as well as their overlap that makes them rivals.
bctopper There are a lot of subtle nuances in Cumberbatch's performance, the blink-you-would-miss moments. He's definitely not monotone. It seems to be fashion to diss Cumberbatch now. You don't have to talk down one to uplift the other. Cumberbatch needs to carry the show, if he didn't deliver, I can understand your point, but he delivered it phenomenally. Sherlock is not Cumberbatch's show, but without his performance, it can't possibly be so compelling.
They play their characters perfectly. That is the way they are meant to be. It's how they are written.
Between Benedict Cumberbatch, Andrew Scott, Martin Freeman, Steven Moffat & Mark Gatiss... they make Sherlock. That's what makes the show brilliant. Everyone plays their part perfectly.
You can tell when someone, especially that woman who talked about how he researched the character at the beginning, had an educated thought provoking question, that Ben just lit up. He would be smiling, and loved the psychology behind their words.
Benedict's laugh at 13:02 :) Spontaneous and adorable.
When Ben is talking about Sherlock's drug habit, I can just imagine Steven taking mental notes: "Hmmm... Drunk Sherlock? Junkie Sherlock? Must discuss ideas for season 3 with Mark..!"
and we do get to see him drunk!! XD
Little did we know...
Nicolina Jacobsson Of course. The sign of a good writer is one who takes notes of almost everything he or she sees and hears. I would know. I write.
OMG, I can't believe BC mentioned "Kavalier & Clay"! My cousin wrote that book. Wow, I'm so thrilled. :-)
Leslie Dicken he loves reading
Leslie, did you tell your cousin that if Benedict had the money he would love to make the book into a movie? Sadly, I just checked IMDB and whilst in development TV, the production has stalled. No mention of casting, perhaps with Benedict on-board...?
"We're not here to talk about your problems" XD oh Benedict.
Lindsay Margaret what did the girl said before? I couldn't understand it
Lindsay Margaret When did he say this? I mean, on which minute?
it's at 11:00
As soon as Rebecca made a sign for Benedict to come in, I turned off the volume LOL
Haha 😂😂😂
I should've done that😔🙌🙌🙌
You're smart
😂 😂 Haahaa smart. But I wanted to hear the cheer.
Awww I love how appreciative and considrate of his fans Ben is. he's such a genlteman.
LOL.. My fav part is towards the end where Moffat talks about the fan reactions like, "Karen, I love you!" , "Matt, marry me!" , "Moffat, could you put your head down a bit?" ... I so lost it at that part.. Poor Moffat gets no love.. LOL
Cumberbatch: a great actor destined for greatness.
Have any of you actually watched anything else Benedict has been in? I hope the bloke goes from strength to strength. Your all haters. Cause he is sexy, a great actor, and been in theater productions, genuine descent bloke who cares alot about what ppl think of him as an actor... I wish him all the best for the future...
how I love sincerity and passion in Benedict:) he almost catches fire talking about something fascinating, like this lady travelling with cat and he noticing it, and he always credits other people so easily, that is wonderful!;)
He's just so perfect, charming ,calm polite and amazing 🙈
This man is absolutely perfect.
Screaming girls really are annoying.
But Benedict is a brilliant actor
O plz, screaming boys are annoying too but we don't point it out.
that coffee feel
You know what a fan girl is, alot more common than a fan boy even though they obviously exist.
ay umid
no need to pull down the mood
everyone was having fun! no need to invoke self-consciousness or negativity in any kind
I'm sure you can handle joyous and excited cheers from girls that finally saw their favourite producers and actor live ;)
who can blame them. as a boy I would've screamed at the top of my lungs in an act of support if I were to meet benedict
This is a great interview because Benedict was never more beautiful and it's a great pleasure to admire him.
So many things I love about this, but, THE LOOK ON BENEDICT'S FACE when she said about the Buckingham palace scene, OMG I can't even. He's like; wait what!?!! Idk how to respond to this....
Audience member: "...I'm a private investigator here in New York..."
BC: "You WERE, you aren't now..."
LOL
Benedict really has such an infectious personality.
Aw the memories watching this live. Such a great moment in BC fandom!
You were there? x.x Lucky!
I would have done ANYTHING to be sitting there and just get to look at Benedict Cumberbatch!!!!!
"Stop promoting the show Benedict" Oh, don't you ever stop him of talking about his naked beauty, Moffat! He actually literally IS the most beautiful creature in this world with that husky baritone voice, a pair of azure/greenish eyes and those lean long fingers... Oh, be still my poor heart! He is peerless.
why is he so adorable and charismatic?!
Is it too much to ask that we stop arguing about the girls and focus on the fact that there's Benedict FUCKING Cumberbatch on our screen, gracing us with his presence along with Steven FUCKING Moffat and they're answering questions wonderfully and gracefully.
I'm literally crying! Ben is too beautiful for this world and we don't deserve him
Benedict is the sweetest person
Benedict's voice is unreal!! omg!
0:23 The screams of adulation are indistinguishable from the cries of frightened passengers on a fast sinking ship.
Omg hahahah
When Steven is talking about Sherlock and Mycroft's backstory
just..series 4 tho
Benedict is so cheeky in this! I love it (and love the adorably cheeky smile that goes with it). I love how this then leads to Steven, and then Sue also becoming cheeky. It makes a panel so much more enjoyable when they can have fun like that.
I like to think of it as said in Doctor Who: "You know when sometimes you meet someone so beautiful, then you actually talk to them and five minutes later they're as dull as a brick? Then there's other people and you meet them and you think, 'Not bad, they're okay.' And then you get to know them and their face just sort of becomes them. Like their personality's written all over it, and they just turn into something so beautiful."
His talent, generosity and charm are what makes him gorgeous
He is unfailingly gracious to his fans, intelligent, funny, and seems completely down to earth. What an amazing man.
I wish they'd just let BC talk on and on. I can listen to him for hours and hours. what an amazing person!
Benny is just as articulate and intelligent as Sherlock, but a heck of a lot sweeter
i like his hair styled like that
i miss khanberbatch
God I love BC's voice.
"If we ever went into Sherlock's backstory, I don't think the audience would buy it." wow, Steven Moffat should watch more of his own interviews.
He's right. They want the audience to get to know the characters, and not give too much away. Otherwise, people will lose interest. And it gives the audience the opportunity to read the books(unless we already read the books, perhaps a refresher of the stories) for more information and do a compare/contrast such as the following: are the books better than its adaptations or vice-versa? I cannot say about Steven Moffat's other interviews because I'm not really into him. I came here for Benedict Cumberbatch and the Sherlock Holmes stories.
HILARIOUS that Steven talks about how we don't need back story for characters to get to know them - even says that bringing Sherlock's family story into the show would be "wrong". However, series 3 is almost ALL back story for various characters, including Sherlock. Just another Moffat-ism. Ha!
I wanted to hear more from Steven and Sue. :(
I love this. I love his voice, his hands and even the turn-ups on his jeans! He is such a flirt. A beautiful man inside and out.
Benedict's hair in this is just
hnfff
is it me or does Benedict look a bit more like his character Khan here?
Oh Benedict, the way that you still act surprised about the reaction from the Buckingham Palace scene is so funny, you know EVERYONE loved that scene.
What a marvelous talented group of people. They are charming and witty and so humble. I am grateful for what they do, the art and love these people put into their work is astounding and I praise them for it. I can't deny that I swoon a little inside every time I see Benedict Cumberbatch, but what I would love more would just be able to sit down and have a conversation with him and Steven. To talk about art, and craft, processes, collaborations and ideas would be a gift. Thank you to all.
I am the blind fan of Benedict Cumberbatch.. Sherlock is my one of the favorite tv programs..
RIP headphone users.
fk me.. your comment should be added to the title
Thanks
I just wanna say that I really like Benedicts hair like that
haha saaaame
Under that lighting you can definitely see the red streaks in his hair. I like it :)
'I like seeing the rear end of sherlock'
Benedict's reaction
me: hes sat right next to you -_-
Tommo Winchester The phantom is everywhere. Hello.
Wow. I've never been more proud to be part of a particular fan base. Even next to "Inside the Actor's Studio" the audience was so ingenuous, appropriate and appreciative of the whole breadth of work put into the show, NOT just Benedict Cumberbatch. But he's probably one of the most humble, unassuming, brilliant actors of late in my book! Love his sincerity during most interviews!
Christ the roar as Benedict enters hahaha.
Yes! Well deserved.
I REALLY appreciate Benedick as an actor because he's so down to earth, and he's so normal and sweet. Totally happy to talk to his fans and welcomes curious questions. He's also incredibly intelligent and genuinely cares. I think when you take an actor who has that much talent and feeling, and combine it with the genius that is Steven Moffat, you can never go wrong.
he's strangely gorgeous, but I love him because he's such an amazing actor!! look for The National Theatre's production of "Frankenstein" where he and Jonny Lee Miller switched roles every night... incredible stuff! Oh yeah and he's perfect in this new vision of Sherlock Holmes.
fun to see and hear Benedict as himself and his take on the show itself.
"go on air early in 2013"
LOL *sobs*
This panel is amazing...have watched it so many times and still am not bored
hoping they upload the pbs sherlock series 3 panel soon
***** oh ok! just hope they upload soon
I love when Ben laughs. It's adorable!
Benedict is just perfection. And I've always wondered why it's so thrilling when an actor swears.
Moffat's comments about Mark Gatiss are the best part of this! Not loving how eager the question askers are to promote themselves. The "I'm not a superfan"-and-"Your cheekbones are beyond words"-girl made me embarrassed. Ridiculous people. Many good questions, though. Just spare us (and the three guests) the uninteresting stories about yourselves.
Martin Crief- It's a character he plays on the BBC Radio called Cabin Pressure and it's hilarious to hear this character when you have seen him play Sherlock.
Moffat CRACKS ME UP, holy shit, i laughed every time he opened his mouth :')
I'll be honest, listening to him with all the intelligence in the every words he says calms me down, every time.....
I love how when DW is mentioned, like everyone screams and I'm just like; YES THESE
ARE THE CRIES OF MY FELLOW WHOLOCKIANS!!!!!!!!
ugghhh i just fell in love with benedict's hair alone
can't hear clearly as a foreigner but still love Benedict even for his voice XD
I've loved their version of Holmes since I first stumbled upon it. Ben seems to have a true feel of the flip-side of having a Sherlockian mind - almost too good. I am convinced he shares many traits with the character.
When he is asked those kinds of questions his eyes go down and to the right ( or the left from viewer's perspective) which points to a kinesthetic connection to the character. Like me, his connection to him grew over time with increased understanding of what drives Holmes to make the personal choices he makes. When talking about modern 'post-freudian' labels, (i.e. Aspergers) his eyes go from down and right, to slightly up to the mid left and then up and to the left ( or the right from viewers perspective) which indicates that he is accessing sound and visual memories. For an actor it could be remembering lines, it's easier for most really good spellers to 'see the words' very much like the text on screen in the show, but probably slower and not as clear which, if you think about it, is really just a controlled and intentional form of hallucination. I would love a chance to talk his ear off and pick his brain on this and a few other subjects on which I think his insights would be invaluable to me.
Anyway, my truncated point is that Sherlock's drug habits are very much like what you might expect from someone who is prescribed Ritalin, which if you do the research, turns out is very similar to cocaine in pharmacological terms. For someone with ADHD. Adderall is another chemical with similar results, but slightly different mechanism. They speed up one part of the brain so that it can keep up with the other part that is always on overdrive or the opposite - the one part that is always lagging behind the rest bottlenecking the system. This has to do with the timely release and uptake of neurotransmitters as well as other parts of the metabolic machinery. He needs it to focus when he doesn't have anything interesting or novel enough to grab his attention. He withdraws into his mind and does this best when the people around him give him space to find his zone.
Ben is right though, it's headache inducing and exhausting and as Sherben Cumberholmes said to Watson, 'i can't just turn it on and off like a tap' it's just always on and the only way to find peace sometimes, at least for me is sensory deprivation, white noise, instrumental music; preferably strings or brass but not always.
Once a migraine does set in from sensory overload, very few things can help it subside, one of which is finally gaining legal acceptance across the country and the world, which raises my quality of life tremendously. There are many times when just a few inhaled doses solves a problem in minutes that otherwise would last ALLLL DAY LONG. Sometimes the pain is sharp, like an icepick trying to poke its way out from inside my head - if i don't resolve it fast nausea sets in and then i get really really cranky. At this point most if not all noises and lights are annoying and even painful. Other times, it's dull, pressure and a lingering dizziness or vertigo like sensation accompanied by aversion to many sounds and visuals but tolerable under certain conditions - ok screw it I'm gonna have to set up a proper blog to write out some essays on this, i can't be the only one - any other adhd, ocd, aspie, intp, intj peeps out there who might be interested in ways to be more high functioning, via embracing our hot poker, double edged sword like 'blessings' as he so kindly put it? This is our age, the age of the data crunching, fact spewing, story weaving, inducted deducers of all of existence - except for the boring stuff.
11:00 Benedict: "We don't want to talk about your problems..." 😂
12:45 Rebecca Eaton: "I liked seeing... the rear-end of Sherlock..." and Benedict's face 😂
27:53 Steven: "Stop promoting the show, Benedict !" 😂
44:59 Benedict: "And everyone went whooooo" 😂
44:13 Someone in the audience: "Girl fans ?" and Benedict's reaction 😂
44:42 Benedict: "Don't hold your hand up, that means you sent it !" 😂
33:50 Steven: "I'm not absolutely sure that I know the back story for Mark Gatiss !" 😂
16:42 Steven (on which character he'd have tea with): "Irene Adler, the way she dresses..." 😂
I also like it when Benedict said that person doesn't need a microphone.
22:21 d'awh, benedict cumberbatch and Rdj in Infinity war, my two fav actors, coming together, they play my fav character sherlock, and my other fav characters, Dr strange and Iron man/Tony Stark. I can't wait untill i see them together on screen
BC is so Khan in this interview. love him very much ^^
Fantastic director
Fantastic actor
Fantastic series
I love how the crowd quietens down, then Benedict comes on and they go crazy.
We need another season or a one-shot.
I am sooo smitten by the whole series!
Perfection! I would scream... i can see why they are going nuts... *sigh*
I love the gesture of his hands in the thumbnail! 💚😇😊😇😊💚
at 33:43....I wish I was that armrest.
Ninaofthe90s I love this too much, and yes I'm quite late...
I love your pfp
I laughed too hard... I'm so late to this party...
Dude you think you’re late??? I’m here in 2020 XD
@@frazzyblue1384 F same
Here is Benedict's exact words on what you are requesting:
(Ben): I couldn’t see Martin’s face. He was just a little blob on the pavement waiting for a bigger blob to land by his feet. That was really wonderful to see what he had done on the other end of that phone conversation. I could hear, we were wired so we could hear each other speak in real time. So I could hear him but to see it was really really moving and seeing him in shock afterwards…it’s ridiculous but it actually made me cry."
Aww!
The one thing that annoyed me about this is the women who turns around and says "I'm not a super fan" Does she not realise she took the spot of a person that would practically give anything they had to be there!
Katie Marie I'd give my left arm
Same rhythm of books
I must admit I laughed out loud when Benedict came on stage, the whole room went berserk!! Haha! He IS gorgeous by the way...
Benedict: "i'm boring you"
That's not even possible!!!! :D
Thank you for posting this! My poor old computer can't deal with live streaming and a plane ticket from Denver to NYC wasn't in the budget. This was my only chance to see this.
Some fans make me cringe so much I have to stop watching it for a few seconds...
but the four of them were incredibly lovely :)
Yes, very true! Because I had to admit that those were the first things I noticed about him when I started watching Sherlock but then watching interviews and talk shows and articles and getting to know him as an actor, he's what you said about him. Talented, generous, and very charming. :D
We don't want to talk about your problems. ^^
Benedict is such a kind, funny and humble human being. LOVE YOU BEN!!!!!!!!!! Never change. :)
I wish Mark Gatiss would attend these things aa well
Rosy Fame SAME
He was at the Doctor Who festival in 2015
I hope the same
I can't sing Benedict's praises enough here. 12:20-ish, his response to the American version called "Elementary"...... I just...... he is such an amazingly humble and respectful person. As much as I die every day wishing that woman could be me, ANY woman would be BEYOND lucky to have him on her arm.
