I was lucky enough to be able to buy a pre-production version of the new Hardy's Hobbies 16" Bagnall kits, perfect for the Tidmouth Dock Authority fleet!
The prototypes were used at Preston Docks and other industrial sites such as collieries, with a few surviving into preservation.
This kit is designed to fit a Hornby Peckett B2 chassis and I've fitted this one with battery power, radio control. The livery is based on that worn by 'Princess' in preservation at the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway.
I've gone for a slightly different approach on this video and used on-screen titles with no voiceover as it's quite a long video, I figured people might want to have their own music on and didn't want any of the details and notes to get lost.

Thanks to Ania for painting the fireman for me! Check out her Instagram, she's incredibly talented!

I have a technique that has helped me when it comes to spraying. I put paper clip or handrail wire inside of the Handrail Knob holes to keep them from clogging up. I always have to remember to leave a long section sticking out so I can get them out. It saves me the hastle of finding wire that will go into the holes and then poking it through or redrilling them and risking damaging the model. Beautiful Build as Always Corwin!
Good idea 👍🏼
Great video and I must compliment you on your music choices !
Cheers Merv, got to love a bit of liquid D 'n B!
Absolutely stunning. You are one of the few channels that actually makes these long videos that show the entire start to finish project. I have had the matte coat craze on me too often as well! I can't say I would have weathered that beauty, but you did a fantastic job with that as well! Keep these build videos coming! :D
Thank you so much 😀 I would probably have gone a bit easier on the weathering if not for the lacquer reaction, hopefully this livery will continue on a small fleet of shunters in different states of care so there will be some smart ones too! Really glad you enjoyed it.
@@RailwayManiaNet No problem! I look forward to them!
Brilliant... outstanding craftsmanship.
Thanks!
One hell of a paint job! Also had a reaction with mine except on the RHS cab and back plate, in sorting it lost some rivets I’d added but still very pleased with overall result. Lining looks great on yours
Yeah I lost a few rivets too during sanding but on the whole I can live with it :) Thanks! What colour scheme did you go for?
Railway Mania mine is the Bagnall 14” 0-4-0, I’ve done it as a replica of Chasewater’s Dunlop No6, which is an unlined green and some DIY inkjetted waterslides, I’ve put some pics on the Hardy’s Hobbies Modelling Group
I just saw it! Looks great
Railway Mania kind of you to say, but it’s got nothing on your work
Great video .Like the detail.thank's
Amazing! Keep up the awesome work man!
Thanks! You too!
I MISSED THIS BY A MINUTE
I love watching the whole process from start to finish. Ive had a lot of trouble with matt lacquers not being as matt as they suggets, what brand do you use?
Yeah I used to love Dullcote and then suddenly they stopped selling in the UK. Tried to get some from and American supplier and it got refused export. So now I use Tamiya Matt Lacquer in an aerosol, seems to do the trick though not quite as good as Dullcote was.
Hi I’m a beginner in modeling and I was wondering how you learned all this because I would love to make my own fleet of engines!
Yeah you definitely should! I found that trawling through lots of threads on RMweb introduced me to loads of techniques. I started out by using cheap and readily available models so that if I messed up, it didn't cost too much. Having the right tools for the job is also good, things like a good cutting mat, swann-morton scalpel with easily changeable blades, some files, wet and dry sandpaper, and a razor saw helped me get started.
oooh and some good tweezers and screwdrivers!
Railway Mania thank you so much I will definitely use all this in making my models!
How exactly are the windows made? Hot glue?
It's a product called 'glue 'n glaze' which is like a thick PVA. I usually put some on a piece of paper, then use a pin to make the 'window' by adding a bit at a time.
@@RailwayManiaNet That's cool!
i’ve recently purchased one of these hardys hobbies kits and i have absolutely no idea how to screw it on to its body. i can see theres 2 holea for nuts but i dont know what size i need. could you tell me how you did yours. Thanks alot. Ben.
Hi mate I think they are 12BA or 10BA nuts - I usually get mine from ebay
@@RailwayManiaNet Thank you very much I will get searching right away.
Can you buy the base chasis without paying for an entire engine? Is it cheaper?
Not to my knowledge. With my ones I bought the loco and then sold the body as soon as possible on eBay.
Do you have an idea when this will be available?
They're out now dude, link's in the description!
This is amazing, Will this engine have anything to do with Sudrian Histories ? Great build, I do quite like industrial tanks.
Thanks mate! Yes it is now a proud member of the Tidmouth Docks Authority’s fleet
@@RailwayManiaNet Sounds good, whilst we're on the topic of Sudrian Histories would you include 98462, 87546 or ether of the two unnamed red engines in the project?
I'm not sure, probably not the first two but I'm sure some red Furness Railway interlopers will make an appearance :)
@@RailwayManiaNet Ah I see can't wait to see more amazing content
Thank you for always being so supportive!
Nice result.
Total overkill on priming for a tiny model.
Had to mute it. Music is killing me! Nice build tho.
Hehehehe! I knew it wouldn't be for everyone ;) Thanks dude
@@RailwayManiaNet - Can't please 'em all! Prefer your narration ones.
Loco looks mint tho.
