Last months of World War II in April 1945. As the Allies make their final push in the European Theater, a battle-hardened U.S. Army sergeant in the 2nd Armored Division named Wardaddy commands a Sherman tank called "Fury" and its five-man crew on a deadly mission behind enemy lines. Outnumbered and outgunned, Wardaddy and his men face overwhelming odds in their heroic attempts to strike at the heart of Nazi Germany.

The only real problem I had with this scene is that they didn't think to bring the boxes of ammo inside before the battle began.
exactly
The only two real problems with this scenes are: only americans think they can win a 200 vs 5. And in real life the KD was exactly the other way around.
5 People didn't kill 200 tanks you are crazy sir @@m.k.403
ps this is satire internet police, lighten up
Second problem: The germans shot their Panzerfaust at the tank. This was a HEAT warhead (High explosive Anti tank) This type of ammunition is a special one. it was developed at the start of world war 2. It doesnt matter how far away the target is, it will always have the same penetration capabilites. it doesnt even have to travel at all. But this type of ammunition penetrates the armor and then explodes through the hole in the tank. So the whole tank should be full of fire. All of the should have burned. But the way it was presented here was that it just overpenetrated the whole tank wich is very unlikely and not how heat works. As in a earliere scene when they go ambushed by a panzerfaust: The whole crew jumped out burning. thats way more realistic than this scene
they had limited time to prepare but yes i would prioritize stg like this. The panzerfaust over penetrating a @gamingfreak2103 mentioned is more unrealistic but i guess it was needed for the plot
I was born ~40 years after the war. I asked my grandfather.
- How many people did you kill in battle?
- None; - he said to my disappointment. ;- we were just patrolling on a boat going up and down the river.;- he added
~20 years passed. I talked to an Iraq veteran. He said, veterans never talk about killing anybody only among themselves. The outsiders who did not live that terror through would not understand.
I love you grandpa and envy you for your braveness.
right
stupid question, you re a no brain
I grew up in Russia. People of the generation of your grandpa did not like to tell anything about the war they had been at. They suffered so much. Surely not a word about killing. There were individuals who used to go to officially organized meetings with schoolchildren etc., and told their war stories, they enjoyed attention. Yet so many veterans openly despised them for that. The only thing they all unanimously agreed about was NEVER NEVER NEVER AGAIN.
Wow.. I’m not kidding a guy I know in that war says the same
mY GRANDPA SAid me that same : i donˇt know - everythink was too quick.
The machine gunner kid goes from crying to wide eyes. I liked that part
"MaCHINE!"
He would have been commanding it within a week!!
How it feels like to play Hell Let Loose with a full tank fully communicating
Underrated
One problem I have with this scene...the most damage they could have inflicted on the Germans was when they were all double file 3 or 4 hundred meters out ...the strength of the tank as in all tanks is forward ...why they waited to open fire until the Germans had surrounded the tank seems like a bad call to me...still a great scene
I think the entire plan was to catch them off guard and create chaos close quarters and that's why they set the dead german up on the tank
American b*llshit. German soldiers returning from the eastern front would not be that careless.
And why did they left the ammos on the tank instead of inside 😅
@@Sameold87 my thoughts exactly. if you have a tank that cant move, and the only thing protecting 5 guys vs 300 is its armor, why not put ALL ammo inside?
Exactly.

I am German and can only laugh at this scene. In Hollywood films the Germans always fight like Stormtroopers from Star Wars. If the Germans had really fought like that, the war would have been lost by 1941 at the latest.
i did notice that the Art Director had the uniforms and helmets correct during the marching scenes so it's supposed to me a hastily formed, mixed unit of Fallschirmjagers, Volksgruppen and Wehr officers on horseback...and others
This movie is a massive propaganda piece. Germany had one of the greatest armies this world has ever seen.
is that why the French had the best tank on the field in 1939? is that why the germans invaded russia with short-gunned PzIVs? is that why the German needed so many "sub-humans" to fill their Eastern Army? is that why the germans split their forces and FAILED to take EITHER Stalingrad or Moscow? is that WHY, because they were so "great"? the Prussian Germans were the smartest DUMB GUYS in the room....all the Big Thinkers in the Nazi Party had Masters Degrees...they were so smart they wasted 25 million germans, that's OLY germans, on a 50/50 bet....yeah, GREAT military minds...rommel lived his life on the back foot...guderian could never get his plans approved and model was stuck following the orders of a former CORPORAL (hitler)@@jimmiesrustled1359

All those Germans couldn''t surround that tank and kill anyone who pops out of the hatch? No way.
No. We germans are always drunk and don't understand the concept of military training, tactics and common sense. Also we are retarded. Thank you Hollywood, for teaching us so much.
I could never get over how irrational this movie is. If the enemy stumbled upon a lone tank, it would likely just evacuate the area until it had the means to neutralize the threat. It would definitely not keep sending scores of men directly towards its guns especially without heavy explosives. The crews decision to stay with the tank instead of evacuating also never made sense with me to begin with. Then there's the naive German soldier at the end who chooses to let Norman get away for no good reason after just watching Norman kill a bunch of his german countrymen. I know it's overly dramatized on purpose, but still!
🤓
And to top off the tactical idiocy, they left most of their 30cal ammo on the outside of the tank. 🙄
@@jameshegeman5660 This always gets me... They are preparing for the fight well in advance, yet haven't got a single reload for the machineguns inside the tank.
The War was already lost. Nazi Germany was on the point of collapse. This was a fanatical SS Battalion not a Wehrmacht made up of ordinary conscripts. They were looking for a glorious end and that's why they were singing their battle hymns looking for a fight. They got one.
Well, anyone trained, this "early" in the war, likely yes, but later there were Luftwaffe infantry units, and all kinds of crazy things, with officers who had little understanding of tactics and time tables they had to stick to,
This is most unreal battle that I ever seen in a war movie. Those Germans run in front of a .50 caliber like Muppets while holding panzerfausts. This scene is even funny....
But the problem is you enjoy watching this movie right? Movie is just a fiction

They are fighting a Batallion so they have at least 108 anti tank weapons, not counting mortars and anti armor coy, only light infantry, it's imposible that a tank blows a batalion, i'ts hillarious LOL
Awesome movie beginning to end. The story line, the action and the acting all come together in this.
1 damaged tank vs. 300 infantry. I don't know if this scene is sci-fi or fantasy.
Yeah about that Audie Murphy, a famous Medal of Honor recipient actually held off several tanks and two hundred men with an M2 Browning from a damaged Hellcat.
this scene is completely and definitely stupid
This is Hollywood......ridiculous!
@pascal2050 stfu history stickler. It's an epic ass scene who gives a fuck
I don't know. There certainly were some weird moments during world war 2.
A german soldier killing around 1000 americans on D-Day, another one defending all alone against dozens of soviet tanks and hundreds of soviet soldiers on an anti-tank gun, repelling the attack, killing dozens and destroying several soviet tanks,
also undercover missions you wouldn't believe they were true, aces that destroyed hundreds of tanks, air crafts and thousands of infantry men with just their crew or co-pilots.
However, you will find much more about succesful allied soldiers to not glorify the german army, which is mostly due to it's atrocities and therefore terrible reputation.
But those things happened ... even if it's portrayed poorly i have to admit. The whole situation, a single tank with people inside, standing on an open crossroad, would have taken a sudden end within the first minute.
Hollywood movies always make it seem like the enemy had zero military training, basically peasants that have an average IQ of 70 while the protagonists are highly efficient killing machines that are also able to foresee every step of their opponents. You have to remember that those movies are primarily for the american audience, which wants to feel proud and boosted by those movies. The creators just give them the certain satisfaction they are searching for.
one of the best scenes in cinema, but very out of reality.
You would know huh?
@@levigivens I get what you are saying here, but in this case, it's not hard to know that this scene is pretty unrealistic, actually very unrealistic. A disabled tank would not stand a chance against an SS group this size. It makes the Germans look inept, which is not the case. The Germans would simply need to flank the disabled tank and fire a Panzerschreck or two and be done with it.

@@stray_dog3960 It was never different. The only difference is that americans are starting to reflect more because with all the woke nonsense they are the targets themselves.
Germans had to deal with anti-german propaganda, that made them look like retarded muppets, for decades.
Probably "all we have left" meaning quite literally that, all of their panzerfausts were it including the ones carried by soldiers. They more than likely didn't want to waste munitions on a already effectively killed tank in the middle of nowhere as at that point in the war especially that far into the fighting they could not replenish anything consistently enough, realistically they would have probably just swarmed the tank and at that point the crew would be done as the infantry could do many things to them at that point.
We watched a man burning to death while screaming in pain.
But thank god nobody said a bad word.

@@petermitchell8844 Now go back and count how many the SS were just carrying on their shoulders while marching down the road. They were filthy with them.
Historical fact: the germans were always short on anti tank weapons that'smainly because they figured movies will be made and the tanks should get a chance. In a real life scenario however, this scene may have lasted 5 minutes TOPs , with everone in the tank burned by the end,
The entire plan to hide in the tank made zero military sense. They could have accomplished their goal of stalling the Germans for a lot longer by taking a few long-range shots from the tank and then abandoning it in favor of skirmishing on the run. Brad Pitt should have been court martialed for stupidity.
To be frank it was towards the end of the war when Germany's industry was obliterated by both the Allies and the soviets, also they blew up a truck with anti tank weapons first soo by the time they got anti tanks weapons they were already decimated and in chaos

there's a finite amount of space inside the cramped interior of a tank ya dingus, otherwise tanks would never run out of ammo and just bring a massive surplus on every mission

@@delphinazizumbo8674 It was a bit different though. The tank in the movie was encircled and attacked by soldiers with RPG's. Also they were very well armed.
Audie Murphy killed around 50 people with the 50.cal. I personally can't imagine how you can do that without getting killed, though, but i guess in war people can lose their heads and do extremely stupid things, like running into machine gun fire. Overall Murphy claimed to have killed more than 250 german soldiers during the war ... but it's hard to confirm such claims. But the americans loved their heroes so nobody ever dared to question his claims.
Same things happened when Heinrich Severloh defended his position on D-Day, killing around 1000 americans. Don't even know how you count something like this. And i don't know if it's part of forgotten nazi propaganda that somehow survived or if it's real. However, Severloh didn't hate the enemy and even became friends with a person he wounded himself during D-Day. They met a long time after the war.
There was another guy, can't remember his name though, who repelled single-handedly a soviet attack by destroying dozens of tanks and killing a huge amount of soviet infantry in the process.
It is, however, extremely hard to find informations about german aces since their legacy was, of course, not carried into the german republic.
Unlike many allied legends the german legends are mostly forgotten. Especially if they were Nazis.
More than everything germans remember their heroes for their compassion and their resistance against the Nazis, not for astonishing war achievements.
With some exceptions, like the ace Hans-Ulrich Rudel, for example, who became a major of the Bundeswehr, the german army after the world war, because he wasn't a follower of nazi ideology.
There are many stories like this ... in the end we will never know if they are all true or exaggerations.
This scene is only possible the other way around. Few Germans against few hundred Americans/Brits or Russians. That would be plausible.
Not really, as soon as the ambush started on British troops they would have just ordered artillery or a typhoon strike on it
