It's amazing. I grew up there. Almost drowned in that lake. Lol

I bought a new house in Lake Stevens back in 1997 and lived there till 2010. It’s a nice community and many of my friends still live there. It has grown a lot, especially in the last 10 years.
Reason I moved however, is because I work in Everett and drive to King County on a regular basis. Commuting on the trestle (HWY 2) just kept getting longer and longer as the population and traffic kept growing.
I still think it’s a good place to live if you don’t need to do the commute across the trestle.

My son bought a home on a 5 acre lot in Lake Stevens, his home is not a new build but nice, in a gated community, but he is allowed to have and has a small flock of chickens. So far he loves it there. He lived in Seattle, Everett and Monroe in the past. He grew up on the East Coast in rural settings so he wanted more space and 5 acres is a good size for him. He works from home so for the most part the terrible traffic congestion isn't much of an issue for him. I hear it can be tough for people commuting out of Lake Stevens and for students, it can add hours each day to commute times. They really need to do something about the roads.

Grew up there from 2001 till i graduated in 2010. And it was so difrent back then as a small town. I witneseed all the crime and drugs come in over night as a teenager. So many mansions around the lake had drug dens in the basement floors and the parents had no idea. I remember the stores didn't need cameras or security back then and they stayed open over night (haggens, safeway). People could leave they're doors and cats unlocked before 2007-2008

My honest opinion being a resident of lake Stevens, we need better sidewalks and honestly this amazing place was way better before all of the roundabouts. In the past 2 years we’ve gotten more than 5 roundabouts. The only plus we’ve gotten is getting a Costco and having the Lake Stevens Vikings have the best football team in the state. Still I wouldn’t wanna live anywhere else. Once you get to know the place outside of the main downtown area it is an amazing place with everything you need to live a nice life, and it’s not too small with about 40k people. These are my opinions about Lake Stevens.

Living in Lake Stevens and the lack of good infrastructure for the roads... Traffic is a nightmare and the Trestle is becoming unusable. The congestion is horrible. For the price, its not cheap enough for us to be willing to deal with the commute into Seattle/Bellevue.
