people complain about the drums? they're awesome! even the hollow sound of the snare, i think it gives a more modern and industrial vibe. if anything, i think james' lyrics are a bit weak in this album.
Everyone contributed lyrics on St Anger, it wasn't only James. It would have likely been a bit more sophisticatedly written, but I think what we ended up with still sounds really cool
The snare is what makes me avoid this album. I still think it's their weakest album musically, but it would've been tolerable without the snare stomping on your ears
I've been a fan of Metallica for a long while, however I barely ever heard this song (23 years old at the time of writing this, probably because my parents didn't have this cd which could be why) and I just heard it on July 1st at Rock Werchter and I must say, I'm likin' this song, I'm actually glad they played a few lesser known songs to me, got to add a few more to the playlist, thank you James and Co for another amazing experience, and with the hint you dropped last night, hope it means you'll be back soon, if so let's hope I can make it again to have seen you guys 5 out of the last 5 times you've been in Belgium (if of course you come back soon as implied)
@@mrthorian8096 Hearing Metallica since 2008 and saw them for the first time in Rock Werchter! A big fan from India, and it was an amazing concert! Yeah, I have heard most songs of St. Anger but somehow had missed this one. Loved reading your comment!
This song is literally a Bible verse Matthew 7:3 Why do you look at the wood chip in your brother’s eye? And ignore the tree in your eye? In this song, James is the human embodiment of that verse, going around judging people while ignoring the bad he has, I just found this out today. (And they say metal music is anti Bible..)
Who says metal is anti-bible? Sure, there are a lot of anti-bible and anti-Christian lyrics, but many bands have completely other lyrics. Even when writing in some way occult, satanic or just gruesome lyrics that doesn't mean anything because some do it for entertainment, like not all people who make horror movies are satanists or anti-christian. It's usually more often the Christians that do not like metal because of the lyrics etc. But there are also Christian metal bands.
In my humble opinion, this is the only Metallica song ever written that is truly bad AND has no redeeming qualities whatsoever. Even Purify, which I think is pretty bad, has a few solid B tier riffs in there. Even St. Anger at least had raw emotion and double pedal firepower. To the people who somehow hate Load and Reload, you have to admit they atleast had proper production going for them. But this, I just can’t make an argument for- not even as a Metallica super fan. From the super repetitive Drum intro that is about 24 bars too long, to the cringeworthy “(Random word)- Tector” chorus, to the unbelievably stupid sounding “iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii” section- I just want this song to end the minute it starts. Die hard Metallica fan to the end, but this is the one song that I just can’t digest. Just my two cents, I know someone has to agree. But it’s a hell of a feat to have a 40 year career with 10 albums and have only one truly unredeemable song out of that entire catalog.
Wth do you mean badly written? It makes 100 percent sense what he says if you are smart enough to understand him. Also you cant say it makes no sense when there is a song called 2x4..
This is Definitely not a commercial album......This is about feelings and I appreciate that. That's why St. Anger is a good album.

James Edward Russell I headbang nicely to this
am I the only one that loves the raw sounding drum tracks?
Nope.
Dead Dogs no, I love it so much man
Nope, you aren't alone

There are honestly songs I dislike more on Load and Reload than this
