    Thanks for providing us with this first look! Great comparison between the old and new version, definitely helps with a purchasing decision!

    I am quite excited to see this update to the 10-24 as it was a great landscape lens that is now even better. Fuji has fixed the two main issues I had with it, being aperature ring and WR. Since I currently don't have the old one any longer, this new one is now pre-ordered...

      yes hopefully this is the first in a series of mark II versions of some legacy lenses. I want to see the XF 35mm f/1.4 next for an update :-)

      @Honkus 3 роки тому +1

      @@bigheadtaco Yes, that would be a good one to update. I'd hope they could keep the same optical formula while updating its focus motors for smoother operation and its body to be WR and enclose the moving parts.

      @@Honkus they better not mess with the optics of the XF 35mm f/1.4. They might add more rounded aperture blades, but that's about it

    I bought the 10-24mm last month for £849 in the UK, sadly didn’t realise there was a new version on the way or would have likely waited. The 10-24mm is a great lens for sure. The WR is a big plus point on the updated version (but I rarely shoot in the rain) and the aperture ring is a very nice addition (although I don’t mind the unmarked ring). so both would be nice to have but not essential to me. The MkII is going on sale at £899 in the UK so for the extra £50 it’s a bang up to date version and the MkI is now selling for around £799... yes little disappointed but the 10-24mm MkI is still a great lens that delivers on the image quality so not that downhearted by the update.

      exactly. Both Chris and I have the Mrk I and don't think we'll upgrade immediately..... but if I accidentally drop it... or if my wife wants it ;-)

    They missed a trick keeping the text white on the front. Should have greyed it out for landscape filter users.

    I rented the original a few weeks ago to do some real-estate photos and I took some sample video with it and landscape and the OIS is a treat on a gimble. Looked really good. I'm hoping I can scoop up a nicely used version of the OG one once these hit the shelves. Sure WR would be nice, I don't really care about the Aperture dial marks eh not a big deal really and If I can pick up a used one for half the price then I'll be set.

      For sure, my videographer Chris also has the 10-24mm and we both are keeping ours until we actually need to upgrade or we wear out our lenses :-)

    I got the Mark I a couple of months ago on special cashback offer. The Mark II will be nearly twice the price I paid, so since the optics are the same I will keep my lens, I think.

    I have a LOT of dust in my mark I so I'm excited that this lens will be much more dust resistant.

    • @bigheadtaco
      @bigheadtaco  3 роки тому +1

      for sure, in dry conditions and in places with lots of dust, WR is a great upgrade. Vancouver is pretty even for moisture, humidity, no extreme temperatures. WR is a bonus, not a necessity for most of us here.

      If you don't me asking, where did you see the dust? Just ouside of the cameras?

    I don't see the missing OIS switch as "improvement" - never ever changed that switch accidentally.
    But now you have to turn it off/on for tripod use in the menu, that sucks. Is the "auto tripod detect" (or how they call it) 100 % reliable?
    I just bought the MK1 some weeks ago for 550 € new, so I'm happy that image quality remained the same :)

    • @bigheadtaco
      @bigheadtaco  3 роки тому +1

      I haven't tested the auto on/off OIS on the XF10-24mm but I do have it on my XF16-80 and it works great. I have accidentally switched OIS and Auto aperture plenty of times so for me it's a welcome change, but I guess it really depends how often you switch lenses or how you carry the camera-lens around. If you can get a good price on the mrk I, go for it. It's a good lens.

    Standard Fuji: NO security seal from the factory on the box. Who knows who may have had the lens out of the box before you bought it. Bought a Viltrox 56mm lens recently and there were 2 factory security seals on the box. Buy a $10 item at Walmart and usually the package is sealed. Buy a $1900 100-400mm Fuji lens and no security seal on the box. I did not mind as much before my last Fuji lens purchase when I received a defective lens.

    Is fuji XS 10 WR?

    • @bigheadtaco
      @bigheadtaco  3 роки тому

      No it is not. Fujifilm wouldn't do it as it's a 'pro' feature, and considering the price, I wouldn't expect them to. If you need WR and other pro features, I recommend the X-T4 👍🏼

    How to disable ois ?

    • @Reddepex
      @Reddepex 3 роки тому

      On the X-H1 you can choose OIS modes in camera, Continues, Only when Shooting and Off. I assigned the button on the front, next to the lens, to do that.

    • @bigheadtaco
      @bigheadtaco  3 роки тому +1

      You'll have to do it in-camera, or else allow it to auto-detect. For instance, on a tripod the camera will realize there's no motion and will automatically turn OIS off. This is the new way Fujifilm wants to implement OIS into their lenses. The new XF 16-80mm R OIS WR works the same way.
