I love the 10 24 lens but was always frustrated by not having a numbered aperture ring. As soon as the mk2 model came out I updated and am very happy I did. The wr and extra stop of ois is a bonus. Paired with my xt3 it is a match made in heaven.

I have purchased about $20,000 worth of gear over the past 5 years from the Camera store and I will continue to do so in the future. Love the service and the people. I actually met you the last time Dave when I got a Peak Design Tripod. Cheers from the North.

5:42 now that's a user experience statement I haven't really heard in other camera/lens reviews but I agree. The lens settings are on the lens and the camera settings are on the camera. Fujifilm got that absolute right. Why don't other manufacturers get that right?

    • @opalyankaBG
      @opalyankaBG 3 роки тому

All manufacturers did so 40+ years ago so it's not a novelty.

I am happy with the "old" one. Not enough has changed to bye the new one. I sure would like the normal aparture ring, but I live with it. I mostly shoot looking through the viewfinder. It is better with the new one, but not to pay a lot of money. The mark I is still a very nice lens.

I 've had the 1st gen version for about 5 years & it's been around the world many times. Had to have it serviced once as some dust specs had accumulated - all to be expected with a lot of use. A well worn but not abused lens that has proven itself but for me the upgrade to the new version is worth it to gain the weather sealing as I've missed some shots in the past because of very bad weather that I wouldn't take a non-WR lens into.

Thanks for the video. I would like to see a comparaison against the Venus Optics Laowa 9mm f/2.8 Zero-D Lens.

I have a Laowa 9mm. The vignetting at 2.8 is horrible. I think its overpriced for what it does.

Great review of an excellent lens. I’ve recently bought one (in regional NSW Australia, where I live) after switching from Sony full frame to the Fuji XT4. I’m still to give it much use, but enjoy the reviews I’ve seen and yours gave really good advice as to how to use the lens to best advantage.

I have just traded my old 10-24mm for the new WR and it actually is better in use in every way even if the optical quality may be the same.

Lack of WR was the major downside of this lens for serious ladscape adventures. Fuji 10-24 was already one of the most popular lens, now with the weather sealing it will sell like hotcakes :D

The new variant addressed the 2 issues I had with V1 (that I sold) WR and hard stop aperture ring. Bought the V2 as soon as I could.

So no real image quality difference compared to the previous lens? Would have liked to see the purple flare/dot issue tested as at 10mm mine shows that in strong light. Also a tendency to sometimes have slightly blurry areas in the photo. Think IOS or something. Andy mumford also showed this. Not dealbreaker but still. If these are not present in the nee version than yes I would upgrade and even sell the 8-16 as it is huge in my bag, but an epic lens still.

Great video! Quick question as I'm looking for recommendations. I have the Fuji X-T200 and primarily use it in video mode with the standard lens. As vloggers, it is hard to stand the camera up and back far enough while we are doing a food review for our heads to still be in the picture.. So thinking a wider angle lens might just do the trick.. Our other big issue is we cannot use the flip out viewscreen in conjunction with our Crane M2 gimbal so I am wondering if built in stabilization from a lens like this could allow us to discontinue using the gimbal? Ideally, we want stable on-the-go vlogging as well as the ability to stand up the camera on a joby to get us and the food in a shot at once! It's been a tricky problem so far!! Thanks so much! :-)

Tbh not sure if ill buy this or the previous one. I do like the idea of the weather resistance, but ive also see the older 10-24 used for half as much. At that point I almost feel like its worth the inconvenience of avoiding shooting in the rain to save up. I could buy another lens with the savings

I'm selling my original 10-24 largely because there's no aperture ring! Shooting real estate is super annoying w/o the ring and I bump it all the time! All the other features of the new design are great too! Just bought a new model today and putting up the older one on ebay soon!

Fuji is not the only camera that uses filters. Olympus cameras have implemented filters since the more than 8 years ago. Some of them are usable some of them are not, but they also do it.

It is good to see Fuji adding R and WR to this lens. For me this lens was too wide and not long enough, so I have sold mine. I would love to see some kind of 14-35/2.8 lens.

Very good review. I noticed that the OIS switch has been omitted on the new model. Given it will be used on a tripod a lot for landscape work, does it switch off automatically? (I have XT3 with no IBIS)

The Red-badged ones are, if where it is made really matters to you.
      .
Hint: It doesn't. What matters is Fujifilm's Quality Control. Even the lenses Made in China are good.
