I bought Sonic Racing Transformed from my local video game store today. I was gonna play it on my 360, until I realized it's compatible with Xbox One X as well...Man that was a great surprise.
Seems Xbox knows a gem when they see one.

Dropping the Sega All Star characters and tracks from the previous 2 games was the worst decision Sega could've ever made for team Sonic. A backwards step for absolutely zero gain.
My sentiments exactly! I played team Sonic Racing a couple times and It just wasn't the same without the other Sega characters like the monkey trio Aiai Mimi & Amigo (always getting in the way) I will say Rogue the bat chick was nice to drive around though.
Facts!
Sega, you should NEVER act like the Sonic universe is completely separate from the rest of the Segaverse. Not only does it let down your fanbase, it's also bad for business.
Your rival Nintendo added characters from outside Mario's world into Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, you know.
I just wanted the dynamic courses back at least... a 3-lap race is heaps of fun when the layout changes every lap.
In terms of graphics alone, its sad to see that the older version definitely had more care put into it. the cars look only slightly better in the new sonic game. but the older game definitely had better background textures, and everything looks so sharp and vibrant. this new one seems like it has some instagram filter over everything. you can really tell that the newer sonic rushed its texture work when you look at the small rock formations that the track has. the new one a lazy geometric mesh. while the older game has this really nice brick-like texture.
Team Sonic Racing is humilliated just for the fact that is being compared to an 8 years older game and still loses miserably in content, gameplay and some other apects. My suggestion for those with a decent PC and Transformed is to add the famous Reshade plugin and it can look even better and not so far from how TSR look.

Vesperkai Luminious idk how but for some reason when I downloaded it on my iPad it never went away so I can still play:)
Thankfully I play on PC, so I can still play it without buying or keeping an older gen of console around.
Me and my friends have been having a blast playing it every night for the past week.

@@Ominous_Eclipse It’s not Perfect, but I do prefer Transformed because the racing more exciting and the character roster was much better, plus Team Sonic Racing is VERY Basic and standard and they get rid of everything that was good. (Crossover character, fun levels and the transform mechanic for example)

There is no doubt that sonic team racing looks better, but it feels like there wasn’t as much love and care that went into it as Transformed. The animation for the characters, the way how the stages are altered after each lap, the way how you feel like you’re going so fast all in a game that came out 2012. This makes Sonic team racing feel more like a downgrade then an upgrade.

not enough to push me into paying £31.99 when I have transformed which is either just as good or in some aspects better, the team racing game lacks the water and air transformation and it lacks character selection, so to me its a downgrade from transformed, also put transformed in 4k and it looks better than team racing anyway.on a side note the track side animation and graphics do look very nice team racing,i think they should have gone for a transformed 3 instead really.
Team Sonic Racing is really just the first All-Stars game with transformed cars controls, and new stages without SEGA characters.
Also don't forget TSR has fucking denuvo

Team Sonic Racing Emphasizes on Dynamic Lighting and Brand New Shading where as Transformed just used the Regular Lighting that last Gen can Handle and Shades had to be Manually Put

Yeah... As soon as I saw that Transformed was on sale for the winter steam sale. I bought it, and the Dreamcast collection... Still, can't get Jet Set Radio to work with my Switch controller though😔.
In all stars racing your able to transition between car plane and boat sections....my choice is easy
I think TSR is not completely a bad game it's just a "mediocre" one i mean i can just simply enjoy it as a very cooperative game but above all it is sad that they just don't putted a lot of effort in terms of variety of characters (I mean having a lot of characters in the Sonic Franchise) Transformed has more variety indeed and all the stages are very memorable in terms of game references and songs. Both games are very fun to play but transformed will be better because the quainty of things that it gives you, stages, characters, missions, gameplay, etc.

seems like you have trouble with the "hot rod" power up in "Sonic and All Stars Racing Transformed" if you detonate the Hot Rod even when nobody is around you, you could just use the boost from the power up
and i made mistakes like the ones you made in carrier zone, and you also seem to not know the timing of the stunts in both games, if you time it just right, you could go against the HIGHEST difficulty opponents in both games (S class in "Sonic and All Stars Racing Transformed" while [possibly] hard in "Team Sonic Racing")
The soundtrack in Team racing has more metal. The soundtrack in Transformed has more arcade remix. You know, i prefer Transformed. But no lie, Team Racing soundtracks are bombing but i missed the remix they used to put in the game.
WoW TSR now kinda looks like a cheap and downgraded version of ASRT.

in my opinion, I think that STR tried to do the same gameplay as Mario Karts games, the gameplay is a little slow, the sound effects are kind of "cartoons" mainly the Stunts, and you don't It has that feeling of speed, as in my opinion in the Mario Karts games, it cannot be denied that the graphics of the TSR are AMAZING, however it is as if it were S&SASR remake, without much new thing.
However, the S & ASRT graphics are not bad. On the contrary, for that time the graphics were out of this world already, and you can have a lot of fun playing.
I definitely prefer Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, one of my favorite passion games :b
SaSRT with reshade (HDR; SSAO; Screen Space Reflection and motion blur). when you set those 4 properly, the game looks good as new. [that's my own reshade setup]
Looks like All Stars Racing Transformed suffers from a lack of ambient occlusion.
Luckily, Reshade SSDO is here to fix it.
Where can I find it?

I like both but between All Star Racing, Transformed, and TSR, Team Sonic Racing is my least favorite. It definitely appeals more to a casual Sonic crowd (I guess) but the first two did it better for me. I love all 3 of these games tho, just wish TSR wasn't lacking so much in terms of content. That's my biggest gripe with the game overall besides not caring for the team mechanics.
I like both. The franchise is not one to rehash but try a lot of things in which I usually end up liking a lot. Sonic and SEGA All Stars Racing, Sonic and All Stars Racing Transformed, and Team Sonic Racing are of my favorite racing games now. So much appeal. I did not really play much of the first one yet but got SART on PS3 and PC and Team Sonic Racing on PC, Switch, and soon PS4. I only wish TSR had more stuff in the campaign bc not enough of the game modes are featured in the campaign. The gameplay and characters are brilliant but there were less new things to expect like surprising characters, overly imaginative worlds, and impressive special moves per character. I would be cool to have each character have a unique team ultimate trait or at least by character type. Still great game.

Someone at Sega thought it was a good idea to put ocean view from sonic and all stars racing transformed and almost all sonic tracks from sonic and Sega all stars racing into an actual sonic game and it worked
You can see that in 2019 and all of the old charaters are literlly the car literlly are not the same beacuse they do not dersev to do that car again and they need to change all the charaters car and thats why the car are not the same.

Remaking, sonic, Transformers, All-Stars
Take Sonic All Stars racing Transformed, give it more customizing options, maybe add some more sensable characters to that roster (LIKE FINALLY MAKING RISTAR PLAYABLE, PLEASE SEGA) whilst also keeping the absurd options before, but maybe cut some of the more annoying nonsensical characters, get some better voice acting instead of reusing clips, and maybe some small gameplay changes for more fast yet controllable racing, and that's my idea of the perfect Sonic racing game

I only recently got to try it out and well... I get why it’s so loved. You can go crazy fast and get those insane boosts! I can’t really play other kart racers because they all seem so static now, I like getting a boat or doing flips in a plane!

I have both (transformed on my old ps vita) and team racing on my switch. I still to this day prefer transformed over team racing. But team racing is still fun to play. it just misses that little something transformed had.

I see Team Sonic Racing fixed the issue of tight roads (for the most part), and small item boxes that are easily missable.
It also has no water sections, which have AWFUL controls, so that's a plus. You can also collect rings, which was missed in Sonic Racing Transformed.
Overall TSM seems nicer to play, but SRT has better character selection, that can't be denied. If TSM had the other Sega characters it would be the best Sonic racing game no question.

Out of the Modern Sonic Racing trilogy, I'd have to say that Team Sonic Racing is my favourite.
SAST felt too weak and boring to really be compelling to me and I stopped playing it like, a month after it came out.
ASRT (note that I only have experience with the mobile version and the PS3 demo, though I plan to get the full version on my PS3 one day so my thoughts could change) was hard to navigate in and felt like a poor attempt to copy SAST.
TSR on the other hand, I can't stop playing. It's just so fun to jump in and start racing. Sure it doesn't have as good graphics as it's predecessor, the lack of stuff that made people interested in the previous games isn't great and the tracks can sometimes feel too long and wide (eg, all of the Casino levels and Sky Road) but it's such a fun time that I couldn't really care, plus, the amount of replay value with the parts system and kart customisation is waaaay bigger than SAST and ASRT.
That's just my opinion though

i’m in the minority here but i prefer TSR’s handling and overall feel. also like the team mechanics much more than the transforming. transforming always felt out of place and fucked with the pacing imo
